Before I got really into bass fishing and multiple rods that I got to be technique specific, I got by just with doing it with a couple rods. That said, a 6'6-7 M F would do all of those things. Not necessarily exceptional, but would do it all. A dobyns champ 702 or something along that line would do fine.

Brand and model aside, for a do it all cranking rod, I personally like a rod closer to the 7' length. I like to be able to roll cast and handle the rod more accurately at close range than a 7'6 or 8'. And the power of the rod wholly depends on which depth I would use it the most in and what type and density of vegetation or cover. A 724 or 725. 725 would be good for both shallow squarebills ans has power to set the hook when fishing deep.

Adam, I'm not gonna say its night and day, but its clearly the better rod. In all categories, it surpasses the Powell... But like I said, the Powell hold its own well. I really need to try a champ series rod to see where I think the endurance stands

Just the one DX. Got it on sale for a ham sandwich. Less than what u would pay for Champ.

My next Dobyns Dx is gonna be a M or ML spinning rod. They are terrific rods. Im super pleased with my DX. But for 150 bucks, Powell is the next best thing.

Yup. I've caught bass in 35+ fow with these rods. I've also used these rods jigging for crappie.

Bass trix are good, but for a lesser cost the Shadalicous are pretty close.

I've experimented with A lot of different brands while I was figuring out alotbof the nuances to hollow body swimmers ans softbody swimmers... And they are not all created equal, but really all of them mentioned above are pretty good. I really like the keitechs, and I really like the shadalicous

Don't forget to pick those tulies apart. Sometimes ill pitch 10+ times to one small section. Often times its the second pitch within a few feet of the first will get bit

Also keep an eye out for isolated tulies out away from the main section ans any isolated tulies or willow that create even a slight water break. Those often hold fish too. As for how long to let it sit, or how long to work the lure.... You are just gonna have to try a few different things until u can narrow it down. I gotta believe that NC fish are no different, in that it can change from day to day quick presentation they desire Often if its heavy vegetation, ill use 1/2-1.5 oz and it will be pegged on braid

Can't go wrong with a Powell Endurance 724 cb and Lews Tournament Pro or a Lews BB1. If you plan to use it for shallow squarbills and Lipless cranks as well as mediums go with the 6:1 ratio, if you plan to use the set sole for medium and deep divers then the 5.4:1 may be a better choice. If there's a lot of heavy cover and weeds I would up the rod to the 725cb If you buy them where I get them from, this combo can be had for 260-300 )depending on reel choice. And is a 400 combo at list price.

Jigs- hop them, drag em, dead stick em, skip docks, swim them, stroke them, fish em deep, punch them. The only thing that really changes is the trailer or type of trailer and the weight and the head shape.
