  1. Pretty sure i'm in need of a new battery for my trolling motor, mine won't hold a charge like it did before and i spilled some acid out of the thing a couple weeks ago. I've been using a deep cycle marine battery to power the thing but god knows that battery is heavier than i'd like. are there other battery options that i could look at to power my trolling motor for the day that don't weigh 50+lbs and won't break the bank? Thanks!
  2. pretty sure you'll run into this in every state. i just registered my kayak a while ago because i added a trolling motor. SAME exact requirements as your state. I could not produce a bill of sale either so i called the DNR and they waived that requirement. Good luck, but it is what it is.
  3. i've heard of smallies in the broad river as well. is that maybe closer to you?
  4. i think jocassee is your best bet. pretty sure that's where the SC smallmouth record was caught.
  5. Here's one with my nephew from last year.... Need to go buy me one and decorate this week!
  6. I've fish a t rig on 40 and 50 lb braid with no problems. Sometimes i like a leader just to help me with breaking off when i get jammed. otherwise, i'll fish straight braid. I would prefer the braid in this situation vs the stretch of the mono, but that's just my opinion.
  7. did the guy have any more curado's and need any more wives?
  8. So i just bought a camera.... somewhat on a whim, but not really. i've been thinking about one for a while now and just haven't pulled the trigger because it's just one more thing to set up on the kayak before i take off.... but i was browsing around academy sports, known for some just stupid deals sometimes, when i found a garmin virb elite. i know i've seen Glenn talk about using them with ease and bluebasser talked of the same. let's hope so for my sake! now to figure out the best way to rig this thing up on my kayak..... oh and i guess buy an SD card too!
  9. i broke a gen 1 *** casting rod i had like a moron.... went through the oops replacement and got a different spec ***, but was gen 2 for $50. not a bad deal for me. rod components and everything are a step up from gen 1, full cork handle is nice. BUT, whoever put these guides on was still drunk from the night before. they wobble back and forth like me on some crown and sprites. i mean not terribly bad, but noticeable for sure. anyhow, had to fish it last night and managed a tiny guy in this dumpster looking overflow at some apartment complex near my house. *** black 7'1"MH lew's TP 7.1:1 big game mono 15lb war eagle spinnerbait
  10. what you're looking for is just "clear" it's not clear with blue or anything of that nature.
  11. i like to just retrieve them steady and just fast enough to feel the constant vibration of the blade. be on the lookout to get bit when they're on the drop too, they'll get picked up on the drop much like a jig will.
  12. another reason to move to canada......
  13. last weekend it was all they wanted with my buddy and i... all dinks, but only biting the spinnerbait. white and chartreuse was the ticket 1 gold willow blade 1 silver willow blade last night only managed 1 fish at the pond, but it was on a spinnerbait. i had thrown a wacky worm and jig right at him a few times, but no luck. 1st cast on the spinnerbait and had him on....
  14. you may have a pretty tough time locating smallmouth in that area of SC. mostly find spots and largemouth around. up in northwestern SC towards the area around GA and NC you may locate some smallmouth, but not in abundance.
  15. best overall outfits are probably pointer brand and i like carhartt too..... but really take a while and look around and you'll see there as many "answers" (opinions) on this matter as there are members.
  16. "season" is not a universal term in the fishing sense.... we fish 365 in the dirty south, so no end to season really, just different patterns for different seasons. this brings me to another relevant point, which is that it would be mighty helpful if you put your location information into your profile for getting answers to questions such as this!
  17. no auto orders here. but i will try to stock up when i find a great deal on something. that saves money and ensures i have extra on hand.
  18. i would gladly trade my DI capabilities for the GPS.... my 4xhdi doesn't have the GPS and i wish it did. not because i'll get lost, because i would want it for marking waypoints.
  19. went to dick's sporting goods today during lunch and they had clearance lures buy 2 get 1 free.... found some rage blades with a clearance price. ended up with 3 more rage blades for $11, not too bad.

  21. LOL, check you local regulations.... Metric may be outlawed, could be SAE only. My waters would require at least a 1/2 if not a 3/4 to target the big ones....
  22. i have a favorite for different types.... but i like netbait, rage, missile, keitech
  23. Private water bass are so snooty.... Always looking down on the public water bass.... No, they don't behave differently per se.... but receiving little or no fishing pressure should make them much easier to catch with conventional methods.
