i agree with you in the sense that the weekend golfer should be more a game of accuracy. But i think the current state of the PGA shows that the long ball/accuracy combo is what you need to consistently win. Ultimately a solid fundamental swing will provide the adequate amount of distance required to play well. Like i said before, i've been waxed by guys that i outdrive by 50 yards everytime.... big difference is from 100 yards and in their accuracy beats me everytime. right now, i would trade some distance for accuracy. i wish it were more like playing Tiger Woods on xbox where i could spread my attributes around for putting, short game, accuracy and distance!!

Braid With Leader Vs Braid Without And Why
probably the best reason i've heard for using the leader..... this is a very good point. you will bend or pull the hook out before you can break some 50lb braid. i had this happen once on the little tennessee river.... it basically ended up spooling one of the two reels i had with me which really bummed me out for the rest of the day fishing!

Good Deed While Fishing Or Any Good Deed
came here to say this except to add that i do not feel it is a good deed so much as a responsibility we should all share.....

Interesting Psychology/vision Experiment
honestly it depends on water clarity and time of day for me

Tip Of The Day
darren, as a kayak guy you can appreciate this one..... never leave your kayak seat at home!!!! i drove about 1h15min to the lake once to realize i had no seat for my sit in kayak i had at the time. it was impossible to fish without the seat so my day was pretty much ruined!! yeah it was a sickening feeling just for the fish finder..... i can only imagine the batteries to power the boat!!!!!

Taylor Swift: Style
Just like most of those country singers these days, they all want to be pop stars. along the way someone tells them if they twang it up a bit and use some country cliches they have a shot in nashville. i can only say bravo to her for deciding to vacate the easy paycheck (country) and venture into pop. those names mentioned above are now in a genre labeled outlaw country. and LOL @ anybody liking hank 3 .... he's a disgrace to his grandfather's name. the only entertainment i've ever had from this clown was him picking for jesco white as jesco dances on a picnic table. and if you are wondering who the **** is jesco white, you need to watch the film "the wild and wonderful whites of west virginia" back to the topic here, the song is decent and since my wife is blasting her 1984 album a lot lately i can say she has a couple catchy tunes on there....

Tip Of The Day
one other crucial tip that i learned on a recent outing...... if you plan on using a battery to power your fish finder in the kayak, you should probably make certain you re-charged the battery from the last couple outings.....

Tip Of The Day
lol @ putting your keys on stuff..... when i go on a fishing trip, i typically stash some drinks and snacks in the fridge the night before. i then write a note to remind me of the food and drinks and put my keys on that note.... ridiculous i know, but it beats getting on the lake to realize i've left my goodies at home! aside from that, my tip is to wear a life jacket and always let someone know where you're going.

Bass Have Huge Appetites
saw about a 4lb bass with a roughly 6-7 pound catfish sticking out of it once on lake norman.... although it was dead, it was quite a site to see.

Casey Ashley Planted Over 50 Brushpiles On Hartwell!
^^ yeah all good ways to use them in water that doesn't average 50+ feet deep such as Hartwell, which was the topic of the conversation in fact for all the reasons you listed above, i would think the i-pilot would be more efficient, but that's just my thinking....
-
Casey Ashley Planted Over 50 Brushpiles On Hartwell!
^^ i'm sure the same could be said for minn kota i-pilot.... fluke was making the point about using them for fishing in a lake where the majority of the year bass will be caught in upwards of 20' of water such as hartwell. given his proximity to the lake (and unneccesary to mention his experience) i would be inclined to believe the man when he says they aren't used for fishing except during the spawn.

Go Wolfpack
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lame stuff man, but nice game to the pack..... about the same score as a 10 year old rec league game, but that just speaks to our inability to put the ball through the hoop!!

Casey Ashley Planted Over 50 Brushpiles On Hartwell!
perhaps you're aware that topography would allow for different depths at different geographical locations? if you're fishing a lake where average depth is above 10' the probability is that you will not use them much unless you are fishing right on top of the bank. A lake like Hartwell where average depth is 45' is a no brainer that most water would not allow you to use the power poles. Let alone a lake like Fontana in western NC where depth goes above 400' and the average depth is 135'. Just saying don't be so definitive in your "so wrong on that statement"

Lake Fork Tackle Plastics
had some of those hyper worms myself, but never gave them a fair chance and i think gave them away. as for the magic shad, i have some of those as well and do like the action, but haven't really fished them enough to give much of a thought. the only thing i would say is they seem to have a lot of thicker plastic material in them, but maybe that's just my take on it.

Golf Clubs
i hear you Lund, but from his follow up post it sounds like he swings for the fences regardless of age, therefore the newer innovations should in fact make a difference. technology in clubs is astounding. my best friend works customer support for Taylor Made and has seen first hand how they are literally sitting on technology waiting to release it after the buzz dies down about the previous model. all i'm saying is that those advances in technology can benefit anyone, any skill level, any age. i still think the only way you will put this to bed once and for all is to get out and demo as many as possible and make your own comparisons.

Golf Clubs
i can't for the life of me remember the specific model, but the clubs i won were some mizunos. like i said, i thought i was in love with the steelheads until i branched out and tried something new....

Daiwa Tatula Alternative
i don't think i've paid actual retail on a rod or reel in over 2 years..... and honestly i cringe a bit when paying full retail on terminal tackle, line or lures but sometimes you just have to do it....

Good Sunglasses For Fishing & Just Being Outside?
costas are nice... had mine over a year now, no scratches at all. also, that lifetime warranty is awesome. i had some maui jims once that were awesome, lightest weight glasses ever, but they were also not as durable as my costas.

i would respectfully disagree with Lund. For nearly 12 years i played a set of callaway steelhead irons that i got from my mother when she worked in a pro shop. i loved them and thought they were untouchable. then i won a set of irons in a raffle at a charity tournament. some new mizuno cavity backs with nice heavy soles. it was an eye opener! every iron was averaging 10 yards longer than my steelheads. i would have friends hit both irons and the response was the same, about 10 yards more on each club. and not to put any age talk on it, but i'm a well built and mostly healthy guy in my 20's so i don't think aging is playing a role here. although with that said, the old saying of play the course not the opponent should always be your mindset. if you think you need to hit further and harder to keep up with the guys you're playing with then you are in fact playing the opponents and not the course. honestly i can't tell you how many times i've had my a** kicked by some retirees that couldn't hit as far as i could on their best day/best drive. However, those guys are poking it about 200-225 off the tee DEAD STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. you should just remain focused on straight/smart shots and really sharpen your short game to start shaving strokes off the end game. i would highly suggest finding a place where you can demo some clubs. take your current clubs and do some side-by-side comparisons on the new vs. old. This should give you a pretty good idea if it's the user or the equipment..... Good luck and enjoy the game!

Are You Surprised?
just like in every final for every major sporting event, i just want to see a close race.... be it the world series, super bowl, fedex cup, march madness, i don't care which sport i just like close races! so i don't care if they're weighing in 10 pound bags or 30+ pound bags as long as the race isn't decided until it's over.... but that's just me.
