Temps Next Week
pretty sure long johns and old guys is redundant hootie..... long johns is the old guy term. now they call them thermals or base layers or whatever the he** and charge the most ridiculous price ever! and the old school "long johns" (although sometimes scratchy) typically keep me warmer.

Older Shimano Cumara Vs Newer Rods
gotcha. i probably hold mine a little odd so the handle doesn't seem too short. and the aesthetics (red) are no problem or concern of mine. i'll readily admit the pflueger patriarch blue and cumara red clash like none other, but in your hands that combo is as light as a balloon. now i'm wanting to find a gen1 and see what i've been missing!

Fishing Clothing For Babies...twin Babies!
congrats! my best friend just told me he's having twins.... though my wife and i have no kids of our own, my brother has 2 boys almost 3 and almost 1. they are awesome! the older one calls me "unk" and always asks me "when we goin fish unk?" i've found him plenty of fishing related clothes and always buy them when i see them! that and UNC tarheels gear is about all he gets from me! here we are last year with a little river carp we caught or as he called it the "big'un" (and his chicken vest as he calls it AKA his life vest). they are so much fun and remind of what it was like to be a kid in awe of everything! enjoy the times and best of luck to you and the wife.

Are You Insured?
When my wife and i bought our house in july, we were shopping for home owner's insurance..... she was so mad, but my first and only question each time was in regards to my kayak/fishing gear!! even when we rented, i made certain the renter's insurance would cover any losses due to theft/home damage.

First Impressions Of Dvt
he straight up told me that overselling was not in his business plan. i asked him about worthwhile upgrades/maintenance on 2 curado 51e's and a chronarch ci4+ and he came back with his suggestions, none of which included frilly upgrades to pad the bill. good guy to work with.

Rod Snapped
having watched a few MLF episodes lately, i think i've counted 3 broken rods in about 7 or 8 episodes i've watched so it's not just the weekend warriors. i've broken 2 like a moron myself, but just last weekend had one break on the cast. i just had a 6'10"M *** black casting rod "break" (more like cleanly separate, no sound whatsoever) on the 3rd or 4th cast on the debut. i was tossing a lc pointer 100 on 10# yozuri hybrid so i was within the rod specs. i called *** and have already shipped to them for review and hopefully replacement. we shall see if they take care of me in the same way. and i have heard NOTHING but stellar reviews on Abu customer service. most stories i hear involve them going above and beyond just replacing the rod/fixing the problem.

Older Shimano Cumara Vs Newer Rods
hooligan, just curious what it is that's unique about the reel seat? i recently bought a newer (red) cumara and it has a "clicking" or locking (not quite sure) reel seat (or rear threads), but not sure if that's what you're referring to. and OP, i absolutely love the newer version cumaras i recently picked up (6'8"MH casting and 6'8"M spinning). if these guys are all saying the older version is even better i would have ran back and bought it by now.

Siebert Jigs. Favorite Colors?
mike, what color is the jig in your avatar? is that the green pumpkin/sapphire or maybe the blue craw?
-
Wacky Hooks
just picked some of these up on sale a few weeks back and really like them so far
-
Yamamoto Crawdads ?
to answer the initial question, i don't think the yamamoto's are worth twice the price. i got some on sale a while back and they're good, but i prefer the rage tails which can be pricey as well, but you have to buy on sale! to answer the question about jigs, look here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12403-jig-fishing-questions/

Skeet Reese New Rods With Double Trigger
^^ i've thrown a crankbait model of the yellow W&M rods a few times and it felt like a wet noodle. i could launch a 1/2oz crankbait forever, but don't think i could have fought a fish over 2 lbs

Memphis Is Closed
J, i suffered through the hard times and severe dusting of flurries we received and actually worked all 3 days as brutal as it was. however, i can assure you that each and every one of my employees was begging me to pull an inclement weather day or two!

Full Moon
sam, in tidal water the moon may impact water levels, but in a body of water regulated by dam/water flow it will not have any impact on water levels.

They're Wakin' Up, Boys!
senko, what was the temps in your area yesterday? just curious if you had a warm day like we had here in GA? nice catching btw....
-
They're Wakin' Up, Boys!
check that, supposed to be 27 degrees by 11PM tonight. was literally 79 degrees yesterday at 5pm when i left work! and supposed to be back up to mid 60's by sat/sun. these fish aren't going to know what to do!!!

Full Moon
you couldn't be more right about the deer. i find that deer and other land animals seem to relate to the lunar charts a bit more than fish. as a kid i remember my dad not even taking us hunting during a full moon period as he typically saw it as a waste of time. now as far as chatuge goes, i would expect that water to still be fairly cold and though you could look i wouldn't expect to see any/many bedding fish. i would look around some bedding areas and look for them to be staging somewhere near by. if the weather/water clears up a little bit i would probably be looking to catch some on a drop shot (although i am admittedly not a good drop shotter)

Bladed Swim Jig/ Chatterbait Question
i have some bladed jigs that bluebasser made and i want to say they are 3/8oz. i think the fall rate/retrieve speed with the 3/8 is about perfect. i've had some heavier ones in the past, but did not like the heavy weights. i'm sure clayton can explain his reasoning, but whatever he does to the blade makes it vibrate HARD. i like it because you can really feel your bait moving through the water. this year i'm focusing more on bladed jigs/swim jigs and a little less on the spinnerbaits.

Thinking About Buying A Kayak
i had an ascend fs10 before upgrading to a wilderness ride 135. the ascends are VERY WELL MADE. solid boats for the money and are WAY above the models you will find at dick's sporting goods. for 300-500 the ascend line will be your best bet in my opinion, unless you can score a sweet deal on craigslist. just don't forget to factor in a decent paddle and a comfortable life jacket into the budget. good luck and don't rush into it. you will love it once you get out there!

Local Weather
it's about tv ratings too.... if they got it right everytime, it would be boring and would not keep you engaged in the broadcast nor give you anything to complain about to co-workers.
