  1. i have made holes in my plano boxes and never have a problem with rust. Where are you storing the actual boxes when not in use?
  2. back to the point though, of all the baits listed i think the harder one for me to walk is the sammy. one that is a great walker for me is the River2Sea Scott Martin Rover it's nearly effortless. of the ones listed though, the spook is hard to beat in terms of ease of use.
  3. honestly, i'd say most appropriate verb for what i'm usually doing in the garage .... with the fishing equipment..... i tell the wife i'm going to the garage and there's usually a sigh or eye roll, but she reads her book i fondle said fishing equipment....
  4. the dog loves it... he's my fishing compadre man... and has been since he was about 4 months old. he is so used to it now that he just rides on the front of my kayak like he's the captain. he doesn't even pay any attention to the fish, he loves to just stare over the side of the kayak and look down into the water for hours on end. he also likes to go for a swim when you have a ball or something for him to fetch. and he never ever complains about how long we are out there, unlike the wife....
  5. ^ They'll have some live coverage on bassmaster so you can really see everything. The bait, color, how fast they're working it, how deep, etc. I'd say it may be the best scouting report you'll ever have going on a lake
  6. but are they handing out sponsorships?????
  7. thanks man, the swimming action on the swim jigs with the Cut R worm is nasty. nearly makes me want to jump in and eat the bait....
  8. no, most ridiculous thing i've ever heard of..... only doing it before your season i mean.... i fondle my fishing gear in one way or another at least every other day, it's a disease i believe.
  9. i thought the most interesting part of his article was saying he starts with bigger topwaters like frogs and buzzbaits, then switches to poppers later in the spawn period. i usually have done the reverse (with not so stellar results really) and will now be trying the hackney route....
  10. you can fit either 13 or 14 per row and there's 3 rows so roughly 40 jigs. they fit like a glove too. the only ones that slide at all are the smaller finesse jigs, but if you have a trailer on there, they won't go anywhere. i usually flip the box vertical and store in my kayak crate and they never move around on me. it's the best way to store them so that i can see them all in one glance. i made some drain holes in the plano box so that the water drains and evaporates and have never had one rust on me.
  11. Just read an article on this very topic.... http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/hackney-lets-talk-topwater
  12. Yessir. I use the black and gold almost exclusively on the little tennessee up in western nc not far from eastern TN. my dad uses smaller floating rapalas and typically catches some bigger fish, but on that black and gold i can outcatch him about 4 or 5 to his 1.... those smallmouth love that thing when you pull it through the breaks in the current, it's as close to a sure thing as i have in the tackle box.
  13. Greg Hackney Derek Remitz Ott Defoe Kelly Jordon Paul Mueller hoping for a much better result than i had on sabine, that was a flop and half for me.
  14. the checkerboard part of the cork is sick!
  15. ^ yeah I'd never want to toss those on 20# braid on a baitcaster. one backlash and say adios to the bait. and with 20# braid on a baitcaster i'd expect to backlash a time or two.
  16. choice #1 would be the black/yellow/gold panther martin spinner either 1/8 or 1/4 oz choice #2 same lure but the yellow/red/silver combo you will catch about every type of fish that's in the water on 1 of these 2 lures. the lightest action rod you have with like 6lb mono is all you need to have a blast. i'd suggest getting a couple of each of these for the inevitable loss, snag, break off.... they're about $4 i believe and i find them in walmart or dick's sporting goods no problem. i went fishing on lake fontana in western NC for a bit on my bachelor weekend and we had a great time! have fun!
  17. All Siebert jigs with the exception of those nice bladed jigs from Bluebasser! A mix of finesse, arky, football, swim and brush jigs. Good jigs from a good dude.
  18. Welcome and Go Heels!! Also, as a former UNC Charlotte student and since they've dominated in fishing the last 2 years ..... go 49'ers
  19. Walmart assortment vary widely from store to store. that said, you can always find some Yum trailers for a decent price at the Walmarts around here....
  20. WHOA. nice fish Paul!!
  21. as a heels fan it pains me to say it, but Duke played well last night. more specifically, Coach K proved why he is the best in the game right now with some big decisions to sub out key players at the right time. That was a great game, and i genuinely felt bad for the Badgers as they just played hard as h*ll. they just had about 4 or 5 minutes there towards the end of no scoring that killed them. my fingers are locking up a little as i type this, but Congrats Blue Devils....... way to keep the ACC on top!
  22. a little different game, but we used to hunt wild hogs with southern black mouth curs. nothing gets the adrenaline going like running some 300-500 pound hogs through the florida swamps with a good pack of dogs!
  23. good luck in the dating pool buddy, you're going to need it.....
  24. Can't believe nobody hit you up with the "pics or it didn't happen".... congrats man!
