  1. Right on the money
  2. to be the broken record here, you have to be totally honest. i would try to fill in what you've been doing in the meantime to keep you up to speed/up to date in the previous occupation and make certain they know you haven't lost any skills while working in the unrelated field.
  3. congrats to you man. hope you keep things moving in a positive direction!!
  4. it really is an awesome product and flyfisher, i wouldn't let the weight factor deter you. best part for me is with two wing nuts i can have the whole unit (screen, battery, transducer/transducer arm) off of my kayak and into the back seat of my truck. this would help you a TON with transporting on top of your jeep as described. helps me keep my mind at ease when i have my kayak in the back of the truck overnight or stopped somewhere on the road. i dont' have to worry about any theft or damage from sitting out in the open. j, i thought the same about the battery at first until i realized just how compact the whole unit is. i have no doubt that someone with more engineering skills than i could come up with an equal or better way of mounting. but for me, this thing just meets all the needs. good luck to you, hope you get it rigged up just the way you want it.
  5. also known as grounds for termination in the e-commerce world.... were you able to buy any at the $10 price?
  6. their cellblok really is the ticket man.... awesome little product. they do make quality stuff, if you can afford it....
  7. all good stuff above. couldn't agree more that the 20# braid is NOT suited for the baitcaster. I find 40 and 50# braid to be the most suitable for baitcasting. also, while everyone wants to cast as far as humanly possible, it is more important for me to be able to hit the targets dead on. Focus on gaining a little more distance, but not sacrificing any accuracy for increased distance.
  8. I'm looking to put together a new combo that could split time between some topwater action (spooks, sammys, poppers) and some jerkbaits. I'm looking for some opinions on what the ideal lengths, power, actions, specs of this rod would be. Also, what would your preference be for the reel (slower or faster IPT)? Thanks.
  9. those things are sticky sharp too, borderline dangerous for a guy like me
  10. the mustads are alright, but of those choices i would go with the gamakatsu. i'm just not a big fan of the vmc hooks myself.
  11. ^^agreed. great game from them last night and wow was the crowd into it! i was a little skeptical after the first at bat, but they got back quickly.
  12. the fact that over 80% of states no longer require it in the curriculum means that in a generation's time it will be obsolete... there's not much of an argument that can be made against that.
  13. preferences are: 1. tank at bass pro shop 2. lake 3. river 4. pond
  14. flyfisher, i'm a moron about the fish finder itself so i'll let wayne continue to be the expert there. i've pm'd him on a couple occasions and received nothing but intelligent information in his responses. as far as the mounting goes, i just wanted to offer my input. i have a ride 135 with the slide trax and my fishfinder is a Lowrance 4xHDI. i bought the yak attack cellblok and 3 RAM mounts and used that to mount the transducer arm, screen and it holds the battery internally. at first i was skeptical of the purchase, but afterwards i was very pleased!! kind of like what hanover says, i have mine as far forward in the trax as it will go to keep it in front of my paddle stroke as much as i can. i also have it bent/curving down as close to the hull as i can get to get it close to the center line. my favorite part of having the screen on the ram mount/arm is that i can position it any way i want and can even use it while standing up in the kayak which is really nice. i considered a mount through the scupper holes, but considering the fact that i like to hit the river and didn't want a big hassle to remove it that plan didn't seem to fit the bill. good luck either way.
  15. not to just be a total d bag, but my "end of season"/winter list looks like this: 1. wake up a little later than usual and allow it to warm up as much as it's going to 2. fish (and i don't mean ice fish, i'm talking soft water) 3. get home before dark 4. watch UNC tarheels beat opponent
  16. started just fishing with my dad.... for everything he could catch on camping trips to the lake, we would fish at night for catfish. during the day, target bluegill with bobbers. other times we would hike in and trout fish often with spinners, plugs and crickets. good times for sure.
  17. perhaps the most legitimate first post ever.... welcome to the forum!
  18. was just curious.... i had an inflatable and hated how long it took me to set it up/take it down (which really wasn't even all that long, i'm just impatient). now i have a kayak, just drop it out of the truck bed and go! nice engineering on your rig though....
  19. i would think that paint or powerpoint would be adequate enough to illustrate your point
  20. more engineering than my brain is capable of!! only question i have is how do you transport it and how much time does it take to set it up at the ramp?
  21. you might also try twitching a fluke in that same area.... little slower retrieve might get them to commit...
  22. is this kind of like the "i spy" game?
  23. i think tonight should be far better.... i would say not only out-pitched, but too many fielding errors and some wild swings of the bat. all in all the whole team just looked uncomfortable last night. i hope they even it out tonight and keep this series tight
  24. but this will have you thinking next year the fish will be in the same place, same pattern, same behavior, etc. which is just not always true. it's a novel idea and frankly only works with a bait as versatile as a spinnerbait, swimbait or plastic. reason being is that one couldn't set out with only a topwater bait all year long or only a deep diving crank all year long. the reason the spinnerbait will work for year round is you can really cover the whole water column with it. otherwise you're missing out on a lot of fish. you shouldn't need more than a month or two to really learn the bait itself. then you need to spend the rest of your life trying to understand the fish....
