  1. Mike, i think you may have a 3rd winner here man.... the obvious thing wrong with the picture is you're driving and snapping a cell phone pic at the same time....
  2. trolling is standard procedure for me a lot of days in the kayak.... when moving from spot to spot, i will throw a small crank out and let it roll. if i get bit, i may fish that spot for a minute or two before moving on. i remember one day catching at least 8 in about 2 hours just paddling with a KVD 1.5 tied on... actually had 2 of them out, but only got bit on the gizzard shad pattern i think it was and never bit on the sexy shad.
  3. daniel, my only input is to act a little less like this is a negotiation so to speak. if you get picked up, you will be at the mercy of whomever picks you up, PERIOD. just from your initial post, you seemed to think a negotiation would ensue over costs, position of boat, technique, etc. go into the situation open minded and looking to learn from someone and you should really enjoy yourself should someone pick you up.
  4. they don't get much bigger than that fish in your avatar pic!
  5. hey greg, don't forget to fill out your profile info so people can help you down the line with your posts.... i'm looking forward to fishing on eufala next year, i've made up my mind that i'll make a trip down there in the spring at some point.
  6. hey scott, thanks for your service sir!
  7. welcome, i would love to get out to NoCal for some fishing .... snowboarding isn't bad there though!
  8. VURRRRY nice fish maine. is it just me or do the top and bottom fish have some odd color spots on their sides?
  9. saw the post from comfortably numb and reminded me i've been wanting to pick up one of these for a while. I'm looking for opinions and experiences with both of them and which you found to be more productive. I seem to have better luck with smaller size poppers, but maybe it's just me and the ratio of smaller to larger that i have. lastly, specific colors that have worked better for you than others? thanks.
  10. i have a vengeance and a lightning rod. i actually really like and prefer the lightning rod... just my opinion, but for the $ they are excellent.
  11. i would start here: http://www.bassresource.com/seasonal-fishing-articles#fall
  12. i would say jigs as well as spinnerbaits. i was never comfortable with them but reading everyone else's success with them made me go back and give them another try. i've caught a lot of my fish this summer on a spinnerbait....
  13. no matter what, it's a nice fish!!! really all a guessing game from pics
  14. i don't think it's that hard to follow what i said in a separate post as crankinstein seemed to have grasped it. i said that every retailer has the vast majority of their reels already set up as left hand retrieve. while i fully understand the reversible nature of the reel, i seriously doubt the average joe does. this is why i ask the reason they are already set up for a left hand retrieve yet the majority of bait casters are set up for right hand retrieve and the vast majority of the bait casters on display are RH retrieve.
  15. well i for one really want to hit santee cooper... that's on my list. my fishing buddy lives in charlotte so i think that may be a springtime halfway camp/fish spot. everyone i know fishes there for catfish, but i'd like to target some bass down there myself. i've also heard some good things about lake robinson in greer.
  16. i had a 7'2"MH casting compre and traded it off because it felt like a true temper broomstick... just my opinion though. given the no questions asked lifetime warranty at that lower price point, i though it may be by design. just got a used crucial and haven't really put it to the test, but it feels a bit better in my hands than the compre did.
  17. i'd say simply for the sinking factor of the flouro.... while i personally think that is a microscopic difference, it's the valid one that comes to mind.
  18. personally, i would agree with all these guys and say you should buy this tatula i have for sale.... under $100.... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/145279-daiwa-tatula-100h-for-sale/
  19. nice addition Clayton! who better to police the forums than the police.... nice fish pics
  20. dont know about strongest knot.... that's a subjective term i think given the variables Tom mentioned. i myself use a palomar knot nearly all the time....
  21. i'm not arguing the dominance of right handed people. and if you read through a lot of these "lefty" guys are admitting they are actually right handed... as far as the spinning outfits go, when you go into most any retailer, the ones on display and attached to a rod as a combo are about 98% left handed retrieve. That's why I'm saying it is really odd that baitcasters are so overwhelmingly off balanced with the lack of LH reeels.
