  1. Pure fishing was not the parent of Shakespeare before Jarden bought K2 Corp which owned Shakespeare. Then Jarden bought Pure Fishing and put all fishing related businesses they owned under the Pure Fishing umbrella.
  2. You should get flamed. I hear of people doing this all the time. Its taking advantage of a company's liberal policy concerning returns. Keep it up and soon they won't quite so liberal. Then, we'll have tons of threads complaining about retailers not providing customer service because they won't do refund or exchange for legitimate returns. People like you will ruin it for us honest folks.
  3. I seriously doubt you can get anywhere near $1500 for a twnty year old 40HP outboard. Around here, about $500 would be the max and that is taking into consideration the low hours.
  4. KVD Line and Lure conditioner is better than WD-40. ;D
  5. Think of it as basic training. He was being a hard a** to emphasis what you have to do as an inspector. Thats his job. A large counterfeit inspection ring was just busted a short while ago in Dallas.
  6. "The Girls All Get Prettier at Closin' Time" I worked with a guy one time that said he picked out an ugly woman at 10:00 so he could beat the midnight rush.
  7. This is considered Falcon's "all around rod", recommended for spinner baits, worms and jigs.
  8. In Texas, when you put that trolling motor on it, it has to be registered and the numbers have to be on it. If your caught, you will at the least get a citation, and you will have to remove the boat from the water. They can also confiscate the boat since you can't prove ownership. Those TPWD tickets are not cheap either, you probably are looking at at least a couple hundred bucks if not more.
  9. There is this factory somewhere in South Korea that makes reels. These reels have very familiar names on them. Some look different and have different parts, but they all come out of the same manufacturing factory.
  10. I prefer Zarda's. Only problem is they don't sell it online anymore and I have to have it sent to me by my brother.
  11. From the article RW linked: "Although the smallmouth bass / spotted bass hybrid is not the original mean-mouth bass, it has acquired this name over time."
  12. Gene Autry's Horse = Champion Sky Kings Plane = Song bird "Penny to Song Bird, Penny to Song Bird, come in Uncle Sky".
  13. Hammer and chisel, making a roman numeral "VII" into marble slab. "A Mark VII Production."
  14. Yes, Clem was a Red Skelton character, kinda of a goofy guy.
  15. Yeah, but what was his horse's name? What was Roy Rogers' horse's name and his dog's name? Dale Evans' horse? Robert E. Lee's horse? 1. Silver 2. Trigger; Bullet 3. Buttermilk 4. Traveler And the Red Skelton Hobo wasn't Clem Kadidlehopper, the Hobo was Freddie the Freeloader, Clem was a different character.
  16. First, let me make it perfectly clear that I do not condone what JGR crew members did. However, this has absolutely nothing to do with the engine set up for qualifying, practice or the races. They were trying to show less horsepower during a dyno test. Only an idiot would think that the race team would want to reduce horsepower during the races. I do not agree that owner or driver points should be taken away. Fine the pants off of 'em but don't penalize the drivers for a stupid move by some doofus in the garage for something that has nothing to do with the racing.
  17. Actually, new models are coming out and the current ones are on closeout.
  18. Back to the original question. I don't have any personal knowledge of that particular ATV, but it is made in China and I would have second thoughts about putting my child on a piece of machinery made in China without having some independent reviews, etc. on the build quality.
  19. There was an article in Field and Stream earlier this year, march or April I think, that had this information about Maine perhaps banning plastic baits. There was also some statements about private areas already banning some soft plastics. But, the biggest concern for plastic baits is not that they specifically will be banned in some areas but that the chemicals used to soften plastic for production may be banned entirely because its use in other soft plastic items such as baby pacifiers, teething rings, etc. is harmful. If the chemicals are banned, it won't matter how many fishermen use soft plastics, they won't be available until someone comes up with different softening chemicals. Remember, lead shot got banned and every shotgun hunter in the world was using lead shot.
  20. Bennet is divided into three areas: Fly fishing only, artificial lures, and natural bait. Be sure and read the brochure that is available at the park store for the rules and regulations; abide by them 200%, the game wardens will cut you absolutely no slack in the park. For bait, you can't beat salmon eggs in pink or red. For artificial lures, small Mepps, Rooster tails, and other small spinners work well. As far as tackle, Ultra light spinning is the way to go. Don't use line heavier than 4 pound; I always had better luck with 2 pound but you really have to be careful of breakoffs and retie often. Buy your permit the night before. The trout fishing really slows down about mid morning. At the end of the Spring branch is the Niangua river. The river has small mouth and large mouth bass and several varieties of pan fish. You can rent a canoe or jon boat in the park and paddle around the river fishing for them if the trout get lock jaw. There are also trout in the river. Good luck.
  21. Yes, it is blatantly breaking the law, as far as operating the boat. IMO, they are not "poaching" if they are using prescribed methods to take fish. They are, however, breaking a boating law, since the are violating the horsepower limit on that lake. In my area, there is a lake with a horsepower restriction but you can use the trolling motor to fish the lake. You do have to have the big motor tilted out of the water.
  22. BPS does not take back broken Loomis, St. Croix or Falcon rods due the manufacturer's policy, not BPS policy. There are signs posted in the customer service and fishing areas of every BPS I have been in that state this fact. They will exchange them or give a refund if they are unused and you have tags and receipts for the rods.
  23. Its not just your SSN you need to worry about. In May, I went to my bank to withdraw some cash using the ATM. When I got my receipt, I noticed that my balance was about 3 thousand less than it should have been. I went home and looked online and found that 11 checks had cleared my bank in the previous few days that I had no idea what they were. Looking the checks online, I discovered that the checks were counterfeit. The thing was that they had my name, my wife's name and our address on them and the scumbag had written my drivers license number and my date of birth on the checks. Since it has been years since I wrote a check to a business with my information on it, I was and still am at a loss as to how these people got all the information they had on me. I live in Dallas butr the checks were all passed in the Houston area on one day. It was also almost impossible to get a law enforcement agency to take a report on this crime. I first called Dallas PD. I was told that since the checks had been passed in Houston, I needed to call the Houston PD. When I called Houston PD, I was told that since the checks appeared to have been passed in suburbs of Houston, I needed to contact those PD's. After voicing my displeasure, the Houston PD agreed to take my report. I went into detail as to what had happened, where the checks were passed, etc. When I got a copy of the police report, here is what it said: "the compainant stated an unknown suspect obtained his personal information to write fraudulent checks." End of report. I didn't lose any money, since I caught it quickly, reported it to my bank and the money was credited back to my account. However, I had to change my bank account, notify two places that make automatic deposits to my account each month, and fill out four affadavits.
  24. Since you stated one type and not one reel, spinning gets my vote. Spinning is much more versatile than baitcasting. with spinning, you can get reels in diffrent sizes that can cast lures from 1/64 to as heavy as you want to go, not so with baitcasters. However, I use baitcasters 90% of the time for Bass and would hate not to have them available. But if only one type of reel was available, I would have to choose spinning.
