Used to use a slinky (western steelhead/salmon sinker) on a drop shot. Made my own sizes.....very effective. Tight Lines

Silver Thread Fluro has a band around the spool. I tie a knot to make a small loop and then slide over handle near bottom. Cut off a little on the short end so that I have an easy grab...works for me. Tight Lines

Out west I've seen people keep salmon that were so turned (black) that I thought there heads would come off the bodies as they carried them!!! UGH

Head up to Hood River and fish the humps downstream...you probably know where they are and points. Amazing for big fish in the fall. Tight Lines

Out west there have been people pull guns on others for standing on their rock for salmon/steelhead fishing! Didn't matter that they got their first. When I bank fish now I kind of expect company and conversation. If I'm in a boat I try to head to quieter places. Usually too the earlier ya go the quieter it is. Tight Lines...good luck

Was born in Astoria many years ago. The farther up the river I believe the better. I used to fish a lot of sloughs and have won many tournaments in the Scappose area. There is a slough just up from Astoria called John Day I believe and sturgeon fishermen head down under a trestle and bass fishermen head up. I like the high tide to the low with the low being my favorite. Learn to love current. Glenn is right on....be carefull sandbars, deadheads and other @#!$ can leave you stranded. If by yourself take safety measures. Most all the sloughs have some good fishing and keeping secrets is the name of the game for the pigs that live in this area. Our best five in a tourney was just shy of 25#. Come may or so head up to Hood River and fish from there up to the Dalles. AWESOME smallies. Big wind area and six footers and higher not uncommon. Had a cocker once who got excited when my dad came over. My dads shoes were leather and had these ridges on the toe section. My dog had ticked on his shoe and made a perfect puddle in those ridges. Yelled at dad not to move so as not to have to clean it up on the floor. (Cockers have a good aim!?) Tight Lines

Thank you .....good restaurants are awesome. I like the little hole in the wall places. I guess we will be at Westin Hilton Head Resort. This will definitly be a new adventure.

When I lived in Oregon I fished the mighty Columbia.....ohhhh so awesome for nice smallies. In the fall you could almost have the river to yourself as everyone was chasing slime rockets. Awesome times.

I feel your pain. I got accute pancreatitus three months ago and have only fished once and that was sitting in the back of a boat for four hours....I paid for it with pain for the next three days. Doc says my pancreas is like jelly right now and to take it very easy...food and exercise wise. The thing has got my whole core messed up. Lower back included. Take care...be patient and listen to a good Doctor. Future tight lines

About two or three times a year since I moved to Tennessee I put the ol OFF spray on the hose and spray around and on my house and yard and trees. Has really kept down the bugs.....

I hope I get this right but the end of October some time my wife and I and maybe my son,his wife and my two grandsons are heading to Hilton Head. We have a good deal on a condo and so were going to go on a much needed and hoped for vacation. Would like to do a little fishing off the bank for either salt or fresh to kill some time as I haven't done any fishing since I got this pancreas stuff three months ago. (did go last week for four hours for bluegill and overdid it!!) Anyway, not asking for seceret spots but can a person be entertained off the bank with light tackle. Would love to be in the bass boat but that ain't happening for awhile accorded to doctor. Will know more a little later where we will be staying for sure. I just know its a condo by a golf coarse!! Will be my first time seeing the Atlantic Ocean. I've only seen the Pacific. Tight Lines

Daughter got oral cancer and after having to watch her go through that and see it return three times was awfull. She asked me to quit chewin so did. Been bout eight years now and can say I finally don't really miss it. Seeing it on the sides of walls on most fast food drive throughs doesn't do much for me either!! Tight Lines
