Beginning A Serious Fishing Log. I Will Only Be Using Flies, But This Pretains To The Information.
Used to flyfish a lot but have long since given it up for various reasons. Loved matching the hatch and such and tying my own flys. Dave Whitlock was an author who had a lot of good patterns I tied and was quite successful with. Tight Lines

Rain Gear Test!!
Fished a small Heartland yesterday here in Tennessee. Had a major rain front come through. From what I hear we had three inches in one day. Well I musta had an opening in my suit as I got two of the three inches in my suit!! Even in Oregon the land of mist and rain where I came from doesn't dish it out this fast I don't believe. Fishing was tough but more fun than mowing the yard! Tight Lines

Can You Remember The First Time (Bass Fishing)
I used to fish Gales Creek a lot. Even rode bike from Hillsboro once or twice. Caught lots of slime rockets there. Sooo glad to be away from the salmon/steelhead/trout mentality of the west. Love the fish....not all the attitudes. Tight Lines

Favorite Tubes?
Just had to put in two cents for Dry Creeks double dip 4inch tube again. AWESOME. Used them the other night and won a wildcat on a local lake. Probably got two doz fish...lotsa dinks...but seven good keeps. Tried a jig which was good the previous week but that was a no show for me. (I won't say color..but Brad might!!) Tight Lines

Can You Remember The First Time (Bass Fishing)
I remember back in the early sixtys I would ride my ten speed 3 miles out to a farm pond north of town in Hillsboro, Oregon. I remember fishing nightcrawlers and such and this guy comes walking by flingin weightless worms and rippin on em. He was nice enough to give me one floresent orange six inch worm and it has been down hill ever since!!! I remember when I got home that anything plastic in my box was modified. Took a lizard I found ... I remember it being a clear brownish color. I cut the legs and head off and just ripped on em the next saturday I rode out. Ohhh the good ol days and the memories. I remember red and white daredevils were good too. Don't believe I even own one of those now. Tight Lines

Wildcats
At least thats what I think they call em. We didn't have em in Oregon and since moving to Tennessee they are all over. I gotta say it's a lot of fun during the week to take three or four hours and have a short tourney and meet new people. I tried a couple last year and this had me wanting to do more this year. Last year did poorly and this year started with a second so now I'm addicted. But it's hard for me right now to not want to go back by the ramp for the last hour or so. Even though I know there's lots of fish in the area they get hammered. Gambling on a little longer run seems to have worked for me on the first one. Sure do like all the options in the eastern part of the states. Tight Lines all

Bummer
OUCH... Got a fish story for ya. Fished my first Heartland yesterday. We were catching fish and a boat went by...I tripped and thought I was headed over the side. Chin hit side of boat (thought I had been punched) Thumb caught on something and ripped a large chuck of skin and flesh off. Shook it off and kept fishing...was a good day. Got home was invited to son and daughter in laws house for dinner (awesome)(get to play with 2 and 5 year old) Was playing with 2 year old and ripped the toenail off the big toe on right foot!!! Kids saw all blood and I know they were thinking glad its not me. Kind of a brutal day. You get well soon and plan a fishin day at the end of your doctors orders

Calling It Quits
Have fished some of these types of fisheries. I like a small rapala quivered on the surface very patiently on light line...then twitched gently under. (gold or silver) A three inch YUM Dinger fished slow with no weight.

First Light Fishing (Shade Or Sun?)
Not having ever been there I can't believe the fish swim from one bank to the other for the rising sun. They may relate differently and have to be fished differently. Every days a good day and I personally like to fish all day when ever I can. Tight Lines

How Many Times Have You Taken A Hook To The Body
Have done it several times in the hand. Rattle traps and spots every time I hear them remind me of the times they've bit me in the hands. Worst was on Clear Lake California. Had a treble in hand and on the other treble the fish was still wiggling. Dannnnnnnnng it hurt....fish didn't make it!!!! Tight Lines
