  1. Yes have it on in the background at work..shhhh!
  2. I have the crankbait version (MH/MF), definitely agree overall. This ain't a pretty rod, but it does it's job and balances ok with my BPS PQ.
  3. Actually Pike like weed beds too. Bass and Pike can co-exist in the same area. Pretty much others have covered the topic.
  4. FYI - THUT has a trade in event happening now. You can trade in your rods and get 60% retail value towards a NRX, which can take a decent chunk off retail, plus I think you can trade in as many rods as you want.
  5. x2 And this is the one everyone says G Loomis stands out.
  6. FYI - I own a GLX 853C, it can handle up to 1/2 oz without a problem. So I would think the 893C wouldn't have an issue either.
  7. I haven't pulled the trigger yet for a NRX, but the one that gets all the rave and the most OMGZ is awesome is the 893C. This is the one everyone says. When I finally pull a trigger on a NRX this will be it.
  8. I have the 7'6" H/XF Aetos and it's my pitching rod. Sensitivity is very good. I didn't mention Aetos because they aren't in your price range. So if you can swing it, Aetos is an awesome rod.
  9. Well your post and CGrinder has given me some guidance. I am most likely going to pair it with my GLX 894C or 854C. Maybe this will help narrow it down. After further thought the Aldebaran may have a problem balancing with this rod, so I may have eliminated this one out of the running because of it being lighter, I probably will get a conquest eventually, I hear so many people rave about it. Just not sure if this is what I want yet, I am researching on doing my own custom rod later this year (requested for my 41st birthday). So maybe that will be the time to get a Conquest 50. I
  10. Get a Veritas (MH/F 7'3) or a Carbonlite (7' H/F). It would also be helpful to know what weight range of the jigs you'll be using.
  11. The way I see it, I'm assuming the Carbonlite H/XF will be a 7' plus rod? Assuming this, I'd think the PQ would balance better. Of course I don't know it personally. The MH/F 7' Carbonlite I have, balances better with my PQ than a lighter reel. So I think it would be safe to say that is true for your heavier powered rod. This would matter to me more than the lighter reel or if you already have another reel that can balance better on the Carbonlite then I'd go for the Carbonlite reel to put on another rod.
  12. So, I decided that my next reel is going to be my first dive into JDM Shimano. I know everyone says go for the Conquest 50, it isn't out of the running...but I'd prefer to try a low profile frame first. These are the ones I was considering. What would you guys recommend first? Exsence DC Scorpion DC7 Aldebaran 50HG - Leaning towards this one! Or is there any others I should take a look at?
  13. On top of that Goose will have an awesome review!
  14. All are good suggestions. I would add my hat with the citica RW posted or the PQ. Further I found it easier to learn with braided line, it is also easier to pick a backlash out. I would avoid learning on floro first. Very hard to learn with right off the bat. Mono or copoly would be my next choice but not all lines are made equal. Big Game or XL is what i would use for mono. For copoly Yo Zuri. Remember to start with a 12 lb diameter too.
  15. Nice, never been to that lake. ATM I fish from Kayak, I'm saving up for a bass boat. Still need a few k more! Maybe I'll take ya up on it when the season finally gets here.
  16. Dude I'm going to be hanging out with you on your new bass boat, I want a chance at one of those big smallies!
  17. I bought a previous version and it wasn't that great. I don't know about the new ones.
  18. I like them just as much as the E series. I also feel like I can cast further with a G. Never done a detailed test or anything.
  19. So the family and I are ready to book a trip to Lake Berkley Resort. The house we are renting has a convenient small body of water in the back, so I'll be doing some bank fishing there when I have time (early in the morning and evenings). Anyway, I wanted to get some help on what lures I should bring? We will be there for one week in late April. RIght now I'm thinking of bringing 2 rods with me - 6'9" M/XF Fenwick ET rod spooled with 15lb braid - Symetre 2500 FL 6'8" MH/F Cumara spooled with 50lb braid - Chronarch 50 MG I was also going to bring a Citica G6 with 30lb braid and possibly another reel tbd for spare. Probably a Curado G7, just to have back ups. Unfortunately I can't bring my full arsenal! Lures to bring: 1. 3700 case full of jigs 2. White Pearl Super Fluke and Watermelon Red 3. Small box of cranks (square bills) 4. Zoom Trick Worms 5. Yum DIngers/BPS Stik-o's 6. Buzzbaits Should I bring anything else for that time of the year? I'm also looking up a guide, since my wife is open to it for a half day bass fishing trip. The few guides I've seen take you to Toho. Would this be a good idea? Or if you have any other guides that may offer better services. I am working blind atm with no referrals. A lot of the guys I see are advertising shiner fishing, since I'm not a live bait guy anymore I was hoping to find a guide who would be more aligned with my beliefs. Would it be an issue if I told them I'm not into this? I don't want to offend! Or get talked too. Anyway, looking forward to everyone's input and having a chance at my first DD and hopefully easily break my PB.
