  1. I'm a righty...switched to LH reels years ago. IMO, the ONLY disadvantage is a lot of times you won't be able to find a certain "on sale" reel in LH as the demand apparently isn't as high for some reason.
  2. My old boat had breakers, which I like. My new boat has 30 AMP fuses, they have popped a few times for various reasons and I have to make sure to have extra ones.
  3. I fished with an older gentlemen a few years ago that almost fished them exclusively. He'd just cast and do a steady retrieve. Some days he'd smoke me on it.
  4. I never throw a pegged t-rig. When I want that application, I just pick up my jig rod.
  5. It's a sign, I'd use a cricket shape crankbait...lol
  6. Ok, not going with the freebie. Besides a low thrust, the shaft is bent. It's a little rougher than I thought. I think I'll go with a Minn Kota Edge. I've always owned MGs but figure I'll switch it up. Thanks everybody.
  7. The best day I had on this technique was right in the middle of the day..hot sun and about a million pleasure boaters on the water. It was probably a fluke because I've never been able to reproduce it like that. It's not a technique that I see used alot here. I don't use it enough. Spinnerbaits come thru cover better than most think. Keep bottom contact with the occasional pop or fast crank off the bottom and it can be deadly.
  8. Ok, thanks. Definitely not my only option, but it was the only free option, lol. I think I'll throw it on and see. The one that's on it now is a 43lb. I sometimes think it's too fast even on the lowest setting. I'll let you all know how it does. Thanks
  9. The smell is from the motor housing. The screws that go into the housing were charred black. So my old motor is definitely toast. Is a 25lb thrust enough to move a 175 Aluminum boat?
  10. Ok, my ex father in-law gave me an old 25lb thrust Motorguide that was collecting dust in his shed. It came on a boat he bought but he had a bigger, newer one that he put on. So..the question is..will it be big enough for my 175 Bass Tracker?
  11. Yeah, I guess I was just wondering if it could be repaired...probably not worth it anyway.
  12. Open water, even in the garage, it'll spin a few times and blow the fuse. I removed the two central housing screws and they are charred with a burnt odor.
  13. Ok, my "new" boat has not been kind to me. I posted in another thread that I fixed a problem with the motor, which was a cheap fix (plugs and fuel filter). Now the trolling motor is blowing fuses and has a strong burnt smell in the central housing. Am I looking at a whole new unit?
  14. Replacing the fuel filter and both plugs has fixed the issue. One of the two plugs was extremely loose, so I'm sure that wasn't helping. Thanks for the help.
  15. ATV Arkie, goes through anything.
  16. Yeah, I'm concerned about that. The previous owner said he always put in Enthanol treatment. I buy Ethanol free when I can and add treatment as well.
  17. OK in the fuel filter there was some orange gunk...not a lot but maybe that's the problem. I've cleaned it all out and will put it back in tonight after work and test. Is there a reason to replace it? Looks clean now.
  18. I don't know when but I'll check it. It was on the high end..thanks.
  19. I bought a 2003 Bass Tracker/40HP earlier this summer and it's ran great until yesterday. It started ok, but about 20 mins in, I started getting intermittent power. It would drop down, then return to full power within a few seconds. It did this the whole time I was there. I'm going to start with plugs and hoses I guess, what else should I look at? Thanks
  20. If they release my purchases at least you guys will know what not to buy.
  21. I agree...he almost seemed a little sad it was over.
  22. I stayed up late to watch it. I thought from the beginning Mitch and Alan would be the final two. I was close...Alan just had the best mindset and food source. Sam was a trooper though.
  23. So if you find Bass let's say at 20ft in 40fow, you move to the closest structure at 20ft? Or you just graph different structure in the 20ft range and fish only if you find fish near bottom?
  24. Tonight is the finale? I'm gonna have to stay away from this thread. I won't be able to watch until the weekend.
