  1. A few years ago when dad was still alive, he saw my plastics bag and laughed. He said "I know where you spend your extra money". I've cut back some since, but I think about that sometimes when I'm grabbing a few packs at the store.
  2. It's the only knot I've used for a few years since I saw it win the Knot Wars show.
  3. If I where using braid, I'd just go braid..weight, two glass beads and a two way swivel with your leader of choice.
  4. Great spinnerbaits.
  5. Day or night I like to line watch and feel. Why not use every sense? If I could smell them, I would try that too.
  6. I see a bunch of letters but I can't understand anything you just typed.
  7. I agree...day or night I watch my line with jigs and soft plastics and I know I've caught fish that I never felt after seeing the line move....especially on the fall with semi slack line.
  8. Of course I know we're not watching this live but Alan seems to be winning the mind game.
  9. I use Mccoy Clear Blue Florescent. Stren, Trilene and several others make the CBF also. Stren also used to make a CBF fluorocarbon, maybe they still do...not sure.
  10. Mostly ribbon tails, but I always have some straight tails ready.
  11. He seems like a good guy, it's only our third practice for fall ball, but just ignorant like you said. His own kid was there. I think a lot of people in general underestimate lightning. Sure, I know its a long shot, but why risk it? When I coached my son in Tee ball about 4 years ago, I had an opposing coach try to "get in an inning" before the storm arrived. I told him I was not putting my kids in the field and he gave me a strange look. Of course, the parents thanked me and got to their cars before that storm hit...that storm was way worse than today's but lightning is lightning. No game or fish is worth it. I'll fish all day in rain, but if I hear thunder and see any flash...I'm gone!
  12. Ok, so I pull up at the ball park for my son's baseball practice and see the dark clouds closing in. We walk onto the field, he starts warming up with about 5 other kids. We hear thunder and then see some lighting. My phone goes off with weather alert. I walk over to the coach about it and he plays it off...even makes a joke about the kids standing by the fence. I got my son and left the field without saying a word to him. Minutes later, we're in the truck and everybody is making a dash to the parking lot with rain, wind, and lightning. I just don't get it???
  13. I fish a T rig, Jig, or a C rig about 90% of the time. Those just fit my style. I struggle branching out with new techniques and throwing faster lures.
  14. Very nice!
  15. I've been using 20lb Big Game for my CRig.. why? I found a new spool of it floating in the lake a few weeks ago. I've never bought line that big but apparently the fish don't care. 20lb line + Pro-Jo/MOJO style weights = Less Reties.
  16. I just bought rod gloves at Academy last week for all of my baitcasters and they are great..no more rod box tangles. For the spinning rods, they have another one that works pretty good too.
  17. My bait monkey thanks you.
  18. I've tried fishing uphill some, but not enough to really compare. Fishing a c-rig down, letting the weight fall off the next drop while your plastic slowly falls seems to get me bites, you can't do that uphill. Also, I've never seen any prey try to escape to the shallows...they all go deep. I did a lot of fishing uphill back when I didn't have a boat..lol.
  19. Louisville here, grew up in Southeastern KY. Taylorsville, Nolin, and Cedar Creek are the three I hit the most.
  20. Become a line watcher, clear or clear blue fluorescent works best for me. You'll catch fish that you'll never feel with any type of line.
  21. Wow...no love for the old ball and chain.
  22. I took my normal PB&J on Friday and threw in 2 bananas and had a great day on a lake that I don't fish much. So the bananas thing has been debunked..lol.
  23. I tried the Pro-Jos in 1/2 oz today for the first time on Tom's recommendation above. Gotta say I'm very impressed. I fished the rig most of the day and didn't lose one. It comes through cover as good as anything I've used but I could really notice the difference in feeling the bottom. All of my keepers came on the rig today. I'm sold.
  24. Big Bite Trick Stick on a C Rig in 12-18 feet has been my ticket to bigger fish in the last two weeks. My "new" boat only has sonar but I'm fishing all the main lake cuts which are easy to see and I'm working those ditches out toward the main channel.
  25. I'm glad you went there....and yes you saved him!
