New to Side Imaging
Well, I finally made the purchase. BPS marked down the Humminbird 899 CI HD SI Nav combo to $499 and I literally got the last one, other than the display model. Does anybody have any tips for this model? I'm looking at the swing arm mount, is that the best route for spinning around and viewing from the front of the boat also? How do you use SI along with your Sonar? Thanks...

Strange Times
I've seen a lot of things...random tree falls, one really big one. Saw some guys in a tournament going so fast that they hit a wake and co-angler got ejected. He climbed back in and they kept fishing...crazy. Last summer I saw a Local Fire and Rescue lifting a sunken pontoon. There's a lot more and I haven't even got to the fish stories...lol

Spinnerbait Blades?
I got some help from my nine y/o son and we made up about a dozen. Here is the finished product. I went with a fluted nickel willow and a hammered gold Indiana. I plan on making some more with the other tips given this Winter. I lose a lot of spinnerbaits slow rolling.

Spinnerbait Blades?
Thanks, I like those, they don't look like most other willows I've seen. What size and color would you throw on a 3/4 head?

Spinnerbait Blades?
I'm going to make up some spinnerbaits. I've got some 3/4 oz heads, skirt material of the colors I want, and all of the hardware ordered except I haven't decided on the blades. I fish mostly stained water, shad based forage. I'd like to be able to pitch em up in shallow cover or slow roll deep. What's everybody's thoughts on Willow Vs Indiana? Smooth, hammered, or fluted? Nickel or Gold? Single or Tandem? Blade size? Ah, the options are endless...lol Thanks, Todd

Jig Fishing Questions
Yeah, you should be fine loosening the tension unless you're talking about deep water and then it doesn't hurt to strip off some line slowly. I mostly fish 3/8, but am loading up on some 1/2 oz for next year. I got away from the jig some this year and I think my big fish numbers show that.

Jig Fishing Questions
You can loosen the tension, just remember before you stop pitching and start casting. What weight is your jig?

Ultra Light Spinning - What Kind Of Line ?
Mccoy copolymer is all I use on spinning gear. No memory and great knot strength. Having said that, I don't think there is a line that will keep you from losing lures.

Bass Pro Shops Vs. Walmart
I have a Cabelas and BPS both around 30 mins from my house. There is now an Academy about 5 mins away and I like it a lot. Not really a need to go anywhere else, except a little local shop (also about 5 mins from my house) that sells Mccoy line and I'll grab some plastics and stuff there too to support the local guy.

Do Bass Strike The Blades Of Spinnerbaits Commonly?
According to Berkley research from the book 'Knowing Bass' page 188, only about 10% of spinnerbait bites are aimed for the blades, 90% aimed at the skirt.

Need Some Advice
Hard to beat a T-Rig worm...it's how I was taught many moons ago. I always have one tied on. Like Mike said..vary the retrieve but usually a lift and drop will work.
