  1. Thanks....sounds like the difference would be trivial at best between 10 and 15 lb.
  2. I see a lot of posts comparing lines, but what if we are talking about the same line. For example, which would transmit pick ups better Line A 10 lb or Line A 15 lb? For me, it seems there would be more line movement (for us line watchers) with 10 lb when a Bass sucks in the lure, due to less drag...maybe not, but thicker line might carry vibrations better...not sure. Yeah, just curious. Plus I'm waiting on two jobs to finish at work...lol
  3. I watch it as close as I can to the water. Depends on what's in the background.
  4. Good point....I just came across this...I put Trilene XT on one rod to compare to Big Game. I had to go with 10lb test (.014) to get close to 15lb BG (.015).
  5. I go a little heavier..I don't get good "flappage" on the fall with lighter weights with this craw. 1/4 to 3/8
  6. My new color of the summer has been California 420 from Zoom. Dark top with Watermelon red bottom. I've caught LM, SM, and Kentucky's. Literally have caught fish in stained water at night to clearer water in the bright sun on it.
  7. Was able to get out last night until about 2AM...I fished the WP again for about an hour...had 3 blow ups but only connected once... in the 4lb range , shook off half way to the boat. Jury is still out for me. All of my keepers were on the good old T-Rig....
  8. I have a local BPS and Cabelas, but do most of my shopping at Academy.
  9. My 130 in Loon came in the mail yesterday. Took it to a close trolling motor only lake that I rarely fish because I usually just catch shorts, but wanted to try it out. I've seen the videos....I know it'll produce..in the right situations but here's my take after about two hours. Weedy lakes with a lot of overhanging trees are not a good place to throw this. It is not a weedless bait. Plus the price, for me, is enough to keep me from throwing it in places where I throw a buzz bait. I didn't get one blow up..fishing it exclusively for two hours around sunset. Straight retrieve..stop and go..didn't matter. I caught a few dinks earlier on the drop shot at the dam...but that was it. Again, this is a small fish lake with the occasional 2-3lber, probably needed a 90 here. I love the sound and the wake it puts off. At my normal lakes with bigger fish in a little more open water, I think it might be a producer.
  10. Any chance you just got a bad spool? I fished another brand for years but got back to back bad spools ...bought at different times back in the Spring and broke off several nice fish at KY lake. I contacted the company, didnt get any help...so i switched to Big Game and haven't looked back. Ive pulled some nice fish out of some nasty wood. 15lb is hard to break off....I'm seriously thinking about going to 12lb so i quit pulling in my Bass Tracker when i try to break off.
  11. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ones mentioned, I'm sticking with All Star....final answer.
  12. Mine are the 6'6 Worm rods. I've looked at the Carolina Rig rod, it'll probably be my next rod. I like 6'6 for Texas rigs, drop shot, jigs, etc.
  13. Bait monkey wins again I guess. My record against him is not good. Thanks everyone!
  14. A buddy told me about the Whopper Plopper and after searching for it here I don't know how I hadn't heard about it. I'm not a big top water guy but I do have a couple Buzz'n Frogs that I've had a little action on. The bait monkey is telling me to add the WP as well. They do about the same thing....any reason to listen to the monkey?
  15. Around 5 is my best guess.
  16. Recently converted to Big Game and am very happy. Don't let the price fool you.
  17. I'm guessing the AST, I own about 5 of them and they seem to last longer than anything else I've bought. I've owned one for over 10 years. I've paid anywhere from $50 to $70 over the years ... depending on the sale
  18. I'm an All-Star fan..haven't bought one in a while but Academy should have them close to that.
  19. Mono: Big Game Fluoro: Don't use it anymore but Cabelas was my favorite for the money. Braid: I equally hate all brands.
  20. You don't always have to stick with one brand..unless you sponsored :). Like the previous post, the red eye has a slow wobble on the fall, rattle trap sinks like a brick but sometimes that's what they want. Ever watch a Cordell spot hit the bottom? The back half floats up. Grab a few of each, if you can. Colors...chrome/blue, some reddish color craw, and chartreuse. These are all I use. Retrieves....burning, and my favorite, yo yo off the bottom with the Cordell spot. I keep it pretty simple..I think..lol One more tip, if you keep getting hung up, take off back treble. It won't effect your hookups as much as you think. Lipless cranks are underrated...IMO Good luck..
  21. I use 15lb Big Game with a Carolina Keeper...on heavier weights put on two. Mojo or Pro-Jo weights work great but I'll use egg sinkers too. Works for me...
  22. Reminds me of the time my non-fishing brother in-law was burning a worm across the pond with a 33 from my dad's shed. I think I was in mid sentence on why he was retrieving it wrong when the biggest bass I'd ever seen in the pond attacked his worm. I stayed quiet the rest of the day...lol
  23. Thanks everyone, I think the external antenna with heading sensor is what I need to prevent that flickering of boat direction when I slow down to cast. Unfortunately my fun fund at the moment is allotted for other purposes....lol, vacation. Knowing why it's happening (going less than .6 mph) is very helpful. I'm going to try the buoy at the edge of the ring before slowing down.
  24. Interesting, so it's more accurate than the internal one?
