Part Three: Suggest Your Favorite Fishing Line(3)

Featured Replies

Thank you all for the answers and feedback in the topwater and finesse presentation section! Please, continue to answer those if you haven't already to keep up some great discussion. Next, we will be focusing on fishing line

Everybody has their opinion(which they claim to be fact) on which fishing line is the greatest.

For this, I'd like ya'll to suggest ONE brand of each line. Mono, Fluoro & Braid

Monofilament: Suffix Clear Elite

Fluorocarbon: Seaguar InvizX

Braid: PowerPro Sprectra

Mono: Sunline Super Natural

Co-poly: Izorline XXX

Fluorocarbon: Sunline Super FC Sniper

Braid: Seagar Smackdown/Powerpro Maxcuatro

Braid is power pro

Flouro is Tatsu

Mono is whatevers on sale because I only use it as backing

Braid:Power Pro yellow

Mono:CXX

Fluoro:Red Label (leaders for the braid when necessary.)

Mono - Sunline Defier. Simply no substitute.

Fluoro - Seaguar Tatsu. Need I say more?

Braid -  Maxima ultra green braided line. This ones a real sleeper, and I highly encourage trying it. It's good stuff

Mono: Berkley Big Game

Fluoro: P-Line CXX

Braid: Power Pro

Mono: Berkley Big Game

Fluoro: Aint convinced why I need it

Braid: no brand loyalty; Power Pro & Spiderwire too stiff, most others to limp

Mono:Cajun red , looks good on a black reel with gold spool.

Flouro:Yo-zuri hybrid

Braid:Cajun red, pick up a bunch at 10 bucks per 300yd.

I hate paying retail.

Mono- Maxima Ultragreen(only used as a leader)

Fluoro- Berkley Vanish(Again only used as a leader)

Braid- Daiwa J Braid(new convert)

All I really need is CXX and Smackdown but if I did use a flouro again it would definitely be Tatsu.

Monofilament: Berkley Trilene XL or Big Game

Fluorocarbon: Yo-Zuri fluoro leader material

co-poly = Gamma PolyFlex

Flouro = Toray Super Hard Strong

Braid = Gamma Torque

Monofilament: don't use it for bass

Fluorocarbon: Seaguar Tatsu

Braid: Tuf-Line

Mono - Sunline defier (Berkley trilene XL and big game = runners up)

Flourocarbon - Seaguar Tatsu (Sniper and Invisix = runners up)

Yo Zuri and whatever braid is on sale - mostly PP and Cabelas RipCord8 (but it looks like Cabelas brand has changed, and I haven't used the new RipCord yet.  The old stuff was as good as PP and when on sale, far cheaper.)

Mono: Berkley Big Game

Co-poly: Yo-Zuri Hybrid

Flouro: I hate 'em all.

Braid: Nanofil

Thought this was interesting. Two guys with many years of bass fishing under their belts and their personal preferences are nearly 100% opposite. Just goes to show there are many ways to achieve the same result. Neither line preference is right and neither is wrong its just what they choose to use or what has worked best for them.

I am just glad we have all the options we have nowadays to pick what we like.

I tried floro and didnt care for it . Then I started reading about it . Florocarbon does stretch but unlike mono it is not elastic and does not regain its original propetries .. Once it is stretched you are literally fishing with damaged line . At least thats the way I interpret it .

Can't believe y'all buy tatsu. That's just too much money for line IMO.

Mono- any version of trilene

Fluro- bought some and hated it. Using up what's left for the occasional leader

Braid- spider wire stealth braid. But after everyone on this site using power pro I just picked some up to try
