  1. for me the only places to buy lures in Montgomery, AL are Bass Pro Shops and Academy Sports. Both carry about a 10% sales tax. No local tackle shops other than those big box stores. I buy all of my lures from TW now. over $50 and free shipping. No sales tax.
  2. I started by making 2 molds out of plaster with various lures I had laying around. I think it turned out pretty decent for the first time but I need to clean up the pours a little bit and get better at trimming the lures. I also damaged some of the arms on the craws trying to pull them out of the molds. I did have vaseline in the cavity's, it was just a tight squeeze. I think for my next molds, I will pick my favorite two and make like a 3 or 4 craw mold and possibly a trick worm and shrimp mold. the Fluke turned out difficult due to the tail. Also, when I underpoured the first one, it made the lure concave on one side. The white ones I overpoured and had to trim a lot.
  3. update, I just bought a *** Medium rod and a Powell Diesel Crank rod off the flea market page for $115 total shipped to my door. I will use the *** for spinnerbaits and use the Diesel as my crank stick. Thanks guys.
  4. it was really weird. Me and a bud were fishing Weiss Lake from kayaks. He passed a pier and something broke him off. I followed and was fishing a Bandit 200 crankbait. I hit something hard and set the hook and whatever it was completely sliced my line and popped my rod. I think it had to be something sharp like metal or a rock. Next cast, it completely broke. I didn't pay much for it so it is not worth the $30 warranty and $20 shipping to replace it. I can get a new one for cheaper than that. I am going to get a *** Black Heavy 7'1" rod next.
  5. I just got a Revo Toro for the Bull Shad. Love it.
  6. Bandits! Preferably size 200 in Mistake or Rootbeer colors
  7. I got a free subscription since I am a Bass Pro rewards member. I love it. Very good magazine.
  8. I don't understand why everyone cares so much about JDM stuff. The US Revos look better anyways. Are they made differently or something?
  9. I broke my Wright & Mcgill Rick Clunn S-Glass this weekend. I am needing a new rod. Is it necessary to have a crankbait rod if you are not fishing deep divers? Say I only go up to Bandit 300's in size. This is easily manageable on a regular rod. I know the Little John DD's and Bandit Ledge's are a little heavier and it is nice with a crankbait rod, but I fish from a kayak and hardly fish deeper water where those are necessary. I am considering *** Black Powell Inferno Ugly Stik GX2 Any other rods I should look at in the 100 range? I am thinking of not getting a crankbait specific rod since I don't throw deep ones often.
  10. I went to the Dollar Store and grabbed two plastic storage bins that fit perfectly on a shelf.
  11. but seriously, who advertises their product on their website and it starts with bashing a competitor like that?
  12. when Vendettas went on sale for $30 a few months ago, I got 4 of them. They were the Vendetta 1s, not the newer updated Vendetta 2s. All 4 broke on me around the same place for no obvious reason. I will never use the Vendetta 1s again, even if they were $5. Now Vendetta 2s are awesome. Feel much better in my hands and haven't had one break.
  13. all I fish from is a kayak. Could care less about moving back to a boat. very inexpensive. No gas to be purchased, maintenance, etc.
  14. I heard if you shave your legs the bugs will leave you alone. hehe
  15. for big water yes. For moving water/rivers/creeks, I will take the Jackson Coosa any day of the week.
  16. you ever bought a mold from there? Wondering what kind of quality they are.
  17. I am wanting to make a shrimp mold and was wondering if anybody has done it yet. I could use a gulp shrimp as my mold but I am thinking of designing my own out of clay and baking it. It would be a one sided mold so I would have to be creative.
  18. Just picked one of these up at Bass Pro. I was looking for a silent crank in the 8-14 foot range but they don't carry silent Bandits. Once I got in the truck I played with it turning the rattle off and on. Very cool idea and implentation. Can't wait to use it.
  19. I recently ordered one of these on sale. I have read a lot of complaints about the handle being to big and during casting causing the reel to engage thus stripping gears. Can I not swap out handles back to a standard dual handle like on the 300E? I am going to be using this reel to throw Bull Shad swimbaits and the occasional A-Rig.
  20. anything from BTD? I am wanting a Bull Shad swimbait and they have one in stock.
  21. I placed an order and paid with paypal. It gave me an order # but I have yet to get an email from *** and my order does not even pull up when I search it on the website. Not sure what is going on. I want to look at what I ordered but can't get the list anywhere.
  22. isn't this the case with most rapalas?
  23. all reels will have breaks. it is funny how we stick to brands. I only use Abu Garcias cause I have never had a problem with them. I have had lemons in Shimano 2 out of 3 reels. A Curado and a Spirex and I haven't used Shimano since. Have you contacted customer service? They will replace it for you.
  24. I am using two new methods this weekend. I got some Luck E Strike Scrounger jig heads and pairing them with Netbait BK Swimbaits. Get a little deeper action on the soft plastic. Also, I picked up some of the Stanley double hooked frog hooks. Going to try out some soft plastic frogs. I got the following ones I am going to try out. Zoom Horny Toad Rage Tail Stanley RIbbit Netbait Paca Toad Big Bite Baits Top Toad all are similar. Trying to see which one I like the best.
  25. never broke a bill on any crankbait. I mainly use Bandits though.
