I picked up an SX40 and it is the smoothest spinning reel I own. I actually like it better than the Revo Premier.

my only thing is they are twice the price of the products I currently use. Hopefully someone will run a sale on them sometime and I will order a lot online.

I am a big crankbait and lipless crankbait guy. I mainly use Bandit and Strike King Red Eye Shads. Spro has caught my attention and I also find myself using everything Russ Lane uses since we live in the same area. I really like the Cellmate color. They have Little Johns, Fat Papas, and Aruku Shads. Anybody use these and had any luck with them. JP Derose tested a few crankbaits the other day and these tested out well.

I am not to familiar with that style but I catch fish on everything from Netbait I have tried and love them.

I purchase all of my Ram Mounts through Hook1. It might be a kayak site but I get my stuff within a week.

I just picked up a 6'9" Medium Light fast action spinning rod. I am going to use 8 lb. fluoroclear for my line.

Shad Raps have one of the tightest wobbles of all crankbaits (compared to a Bandit which has a wide wobble). This is perfect for water below 50 degrees. Minnows and Shad swim tighter in colder water and the shad rap mimics this. Great for trolling out of a kayak as well.

I use them 100% of the time. I bought a ton of them on buy one get one free deals or on clearance at Academy. I do not lose fish once hooked. They are super sharp. Best thing is that they are MADE IN THE USA!

Abu Revo SX is pretty solid. I use it, a Revo premier, and a Quantum Energy.

use 7 gear ratio for worms, topwater, buzzbaits, pitching jigs. Anything you want to burn or have slack line in. a 6.4:1 ratio is pretty standard for everything. I do tell a difference with a 7 gear when reeling in something. I do not use any 5 gear ratios although some of the round spooled Abu Garcias are 5 gear ratio. Those are better for deep diving cranks, although I still use a 6.4:1 for cranks.

I have stopped using braid except for heavy pitching. I always use a leader except for pitching heavy cover. Fish can see braided line. You will still catch fish but overall catch more fish with a leader.

I prefer Fluoro for cranking as it gives your crankbait added depth. I only use Mono for topwater and spinnerbaits when I don't want to slow roll them.

I tie straight palomar for braid.

I don't use O-rings and never had a problem. Too much hassle if you ask me.

for straight up Texas Rig, use a 7 foot fast action rod. for dropshot, shaky head, finesse worm fishing, use a 6'9" Medium Light rod.

for #2, do not lube with WD-40. WD-40 breaks down elements, not lube them. I mainly use WD-40 on things that lock up on me such as a door hinge, etc. You spray WD-40 to loosen up the grime, etc from the hinge. I would not recommend using WD-40 on fishing gear.

google the model number . You can also push the rod tip down on the floor and see where the rod bends. If it is not much bend it is fast action. If it is flimsy like a Ulgy Stik, it is probably medium action.

I eased into braid by starting on one baitcaster. At first, it can be tricky with backlashes until you get your brakes tuned properly. Once I got the easy casts under control, it was easy. I am in the process of switching back to Mono or Fluoro for everything except for my pitching rod. When you get a tangle in braid, you will not get it out. I had to cut line deep in the spool multiple times. Mono is easier to deal with as far as tangles, etc cause diameter is normally larger.
