My revo sx arrives today and I will be putting it on a medium vendetta 2 7' rod. What line should I use? I currently only have cheap mono and vermillion red 50lb power pro. Should I look into seaguarfluoro or yozuri hybrid? I plan on throwing nearly every lure in my tackle box with this setup.

If you plan to use it as an all purpose rod I would go with an all purpose line.  Something in the range of 10-15 lb test.  If I were to pick one it would be 15.  Will fish most 1/4 - 1/2oz baits easily.  Not too big.  Not too small.

As for the line.  Seaguar Invizx.

I have yo-zuri hybrid 12 on all except 1 reel and it has braid.  I really like the hybrid line.

How much experience do you have with bait casters? If none, use the cheapest stuff you can find. When learning a BC, backlashes will happen and ruin line. You don't want 20 dollars worth of line being trashed.

If you are good with one, I'd say Izor XXX in 15 pound or some Yozuri in 12-15

Hey man, I prefer braid for all around use with a 2 ft fluoro leader, it depends on your fishing conditions, water clarity, etc. There are going to be many different opinions on this topic, but that's what I prefer. I use 30 pound power pro in moss green with a 2ft P-Line fluorocarbon leader and I fish it with most of my baits, and setups, braid is at its best for pitching, heavy cover, and top water since it floats, if im not using braid I use fluoro, especially for Lake George here in FL. It has the clearest water of all of the waters I fish. If you want the best of both worlds like I do, tie a 2ft or 3ft leader on. Clearer water use Mono, or fluoro, stained and muddy/dirty water, use braid. Hope that helps, search around the internet and find the most common opinion, but keep checking this too there are some people on here that know what their talking about.

I'd go with 12# monofilament or copolymer if you plan on throwing every bait in your tackle box. Braid doesn't stretch making it easier to rip treble hook baits out of a fish's mouth. Fluoro sinks, hindering the action of topwater lures.

Fluorocarbon is going to sink. That rules out any presentation where you need the bait to float. Even yozuri sinks to an extent and would not be my choice for topwater.

If you won't be fishing any topwater style presentations then I would go with either seaguar invizx or fc sniper for mid-priced fluoros.

If you will be fishing topwater style presentations then mono would be my choice. It can fish just about any presentation.

If you are familiar with using a baitcaster, then tie on the 50# PP and use a leader. Otherwise, I would look into a cheaper line to start with, like a Yozuri 12#, or a Trilene Big Game 12#. I like the YoZuri better because its stronger and doesn't seem to break or get weak if you get a birds nest that kinks the line.

You have a good point on the braid.

If you're looking for a good budget flouro, I'd go with P Line or Seaguar Red Label. It really depends on what technique you'll be using the rod for mostly. I use my 7' m rod more than almost any other. I like it for worming, topwater, underspins, spinner baits. 12 lb flouro is good for all of these.

12# Yo Zuri. It will be more versatile IMO. FC sinks = no top water.

Dylan, you can simply spool it up with your braid, and use a leader of mono, or other line...

15lb P-Line CX.

x2 or I would go Yo-Zuri in the same range.

Does it have a lot of memory?. I hate changing my line after every outing. It's time consuming.

Some memory, nothing crazy. Some people out that line conditioner on it but I dont use anything. Its 12bucks for 600yds. I just spooled some on my mono reel so I can make it all purpose.

I'd spool it up with the 50# braid you have, and use a leader when needed.

If you're rippin lips with braid, you're setting the hook way harder than needed, a wrist flick and you own that puppy.
