Charlie Moore
well said cajun. i have noticed a lot of butt smooching on this site lately. especially when a new member is selling or promoting a new product. oy vey! i personally don't care for mr. moores show, but hey opinions are like butts-everyone has one and they all stink.

Holiday Park
let me guess--you are with the club the "bass holes". you say you caught a ton of fish, but i don't see you sharing what you caught them on or where. try changing your approach and i am sure some guys will be more than happy to help out.

Braid for spinning gear
i know a lot of guys are telling you to put some mono backing on your spool before loading it with power pro. i disagree. i load all 150 yards on my spool using electrical tape to hold it down and when it starts to fade and get frayed i will load that same line onto another spool, only this time i will put the faded and frayed end at the bottom of the spool and the "fresh" power pro will be on top. hope that makes sense.

anyone ever tried eating peacock bass?
during the summer i will take some of my students fishing for mayan cichlids because they are soooo easy to catch. i will keep about 30 of them and give them to the ladies that work in my schools cafeteria. i have kept a couple of peacocks (about 2 pounds) and gave them away as well. they told me they are delicious asked if i could get them some more. i tell them cichlids first with the occasional peacock. i personally would never eat anything out of my fresh waterways unless i was on survivor or something.

IMPO, this is just uncalled for :-(
in the florida keys back in the day, tarpon fisherman would catch, kill, and hang bullsharks from the bridge pilings in belief that the other bull sharks would get the hint and leave the hooked tarpon alone. don't know if it worked, but i sure was ticked when 6 400 pound bullsharks destroyed my 150 pound tarpon right in front of me.

Official BR.com Movie Review thread
INTO THE WILD one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. true story. it is a long movie, but sean penn (the director) does a super job replicating this kids (chris mccandless) life. it was so good, i had to buy the book and i read it straight through. give this movie a go, you will not be disappointed.

The Big O
the water in lake okeechobee is low, but it is up 6 inches since last year. the fishing on lake O is red hot right now. you and your guide will be fishing in the rim ditch-guaranteed. he will probably have them, but bring some giggy/shakey heads with dark floating worms. also bring some lipless crankbaits like the spro or lucky craft variety. there are some big fish being caught in the ditch right now. some anglers are venturing into the lake, but with extreme caution. you will catch fish with your guide. believe it or not, but the artificial bite is BETTER than the shiner bite. good luck and i hope you get a toad.

Harris Chain?
kissimmee chain 4-10 thru 4-13. had a 2 day on the k chain and finished 5th. fished hatch and caught a boat load of 2 pounders, but just couldn't get the big bite. big fish on saturday in my club was 5 pounds and on sunday was 8 pounds. the same guy caught both big fish. he weighed in the 8 pounder with 2 dinks. my partner and i caught more fish than our entire club combined; however, the fish we caught were all 1.5 to 2 pound fish. senkos, senkos, senkos, and senkos caught 99.9 % of our fish. we just couldn't find the big fish.

snakes and crocs oh my
absolutely incorrect. been fishing the glades for 30 years and never had a problem. you will see many gators and maybe see a snake or two, but they will not mess with you if you don't mess with them.

any peacock bass fishermen in here? i need some tips!
redline robert is correct as far as a topwater bite is concerned, but that only works on peacocks that are in south america. i have never caught a peacock on a top water bait here in south florida. don't know why, but all of the peacocks i have caught down here ( i have caught 100's of them) came either burning a rat l trap or ticking them off when they are on the bed. the main thing to remember is to burn whatever bait you are using as fast as you can, and make the baits movement erratic. i like to use either a chrome and black trap or a yozuri silver minnow. if you can see them on the bed, that is when they are easiest to catch. just rip anything across their face at a fast clip and they will eat it. the great thing about a peacock bass is even if you hook one and they jump off, you can still catch that same fish when they return to the bed. i don't use expensive baits to catch them because they WILL beat a bait up. have a good pair of pliers with you, because you will have to re-bend your hooks after catching one. hope this helps.

Dead fish avatars
good question dave. this whole thread could have been avoided if the people who have dead fish in their avatars were pm'ed instead of brought to the general bass fishing questions. some people need to heed their own advice.

great peacock session
the thing you have to remember is to be polite. and also note that EVERY residential area that is on a body of water, their property line ends well before the waterline. so technically they can't kick you off because you are in what is called an easement. the homeowners can still call the police and what not, but if you are polite, most will let you stay. that particular lake i had to be extremely careful becaus i didn't want anyone seeing me catch those fish because before you know it they will all be out there catching them and eating them. it has happened more than once for me and it really sucks seeing a lake go from loaded with fish to empty.

Lake Walk in Water
good luck. i hear that lake is super tough lately. the last time i fished it i caught fish in the northeast corner. i was looking for those arrowheads with other vegetation around. i was throwing a 7 inch gambler junebug ribbon tail. i did see a guy throwing a watermelon seed fluke and he was stroking them. what club do you fish out of? lee be careful what you say about the canes, the U is gonna right that ship this year.

great peacock session
i found a sick lake that is LOADED with bedding peacocks. there are 3 or 4 huge males on each bed. every photo is a different fish. i caught a couple of females by accident ( they would come out of nowhere and slam my bait). i was targeting the males and they were super aggressive. caught about 20 or so, all of them were the same size, around 3 to 4 pounds. this is without a doubt the best peacock lake i have ever found. enjoy the pics.

loxahatchee
it is way too shallow over there glades. lox has been red hot lately. on monday i went out with a friend and we had honestly 25-28 pounds for 5 best fish. we caught them all in about a 200 yard stretch. every fish was caught on a rattle trap believe it or not. if you or bassin have any time off next week, let me know. i have the whole week of and i am thinking of doing lox a day or two. let me know what you guys think.
