  1. has anyone ever swam these baits? how do you like them? where do you get them? i just bought a 4 pack for $6.79. they have to be cheaper somewhere else.
  2. you are not alone rolo. i always hook my pearl, watermelon, solid colors upside down. i use a 5/0 gama ewg though. great bait.
  3. how do you transfer photos from a phone to your pc?
  4. i love them. i will work them on top, and when i get to an opening in the pads, i will let it drop. okeechobee craw is my favorite color.

i use a gama 5/0 ewg and i put a little bend in my frog so that the nose rides up a little. i love swimming a horny toad. imo i think they are the best soft frog on the market, with the cane toad a close second.
  6. hey smokers, what do you do with your ciggarette butts? my partner just flicks them in the water, and i hate it when he does it.

does anyone know of a company/store that sells portable livewells? i am looking for a well that is big enough to keep 5 bass alive on my flats boat. i have a livewell on my boat, but it is way to small for 5 bass. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  8. thank you gentlemen. great advice as usual!
  9. i have heard many shimano users say that they have upgraded the ballbearings on their shimano reels. i have a couple of questions: 1. is this an easy thing to do 2. does it really make that much of a difference 3. will shimano consider the warrantee null and void after doing this change 4. where do i purchase these bearings, and how much should i expect to pay thanks in advance.
  10. go with power pro 10# test. i believe it has the diameter of 4# mono. i have never used backing, and like pond hopper said, electrical tape will prevent slipping. once you make the switch, you will never go back.
  11. raul said it best. i just got an amazing deal on 7 rods and reels, and 1 of them was a g loomis glx803 with an chronarch 50mg, and it is without a doubt the lightest, most confortable outfit i have ever used. almost makes me not want to pick up my diawa sol and my curados which are fitted on johnny morris 85 millions. the bait monkey is already knocking at your door.
  12. from quantum to shimano. i came across an amazing deal that i just couldn't pass up. here is what i got: 3 shimano curado 200's 1 shimano curado 100 1 shimano chronarch 1 diawa sol 1 quantum pt500 all of the curados came with johnny morris 85 million rods (4 of them) the chronarch came with a brand new g loomis glx 803. the diawa sol came with a woo daves bass pro rod, and the quantum came with a telescopic bps flippin stick. i got ALL of this for $750. after pricing everything, it came out to be $2,280. i think i got a steal. oh yea, all of the reels were spooled with "like new" 20# power pro. the flippin outfit was spooled w/65# pp. 3 of the outfits had lc slenders on them. the fella i bought this from, just decided to give up fishing. his new hobby is a harley. talk about the right place at the right time. i am soooooo stoked!
  13. went last week and hammered 3 overslots. all fish caught on giant mullet. you have to catch the right tide.
  14. ryan do you have a boat? our club (south florida bass club) has openings for new members that have a boat. at this time we are not taking in any non-boaters. go to southfloridabassclub.com for contacts. our club has 24 boats, and we have our club tourny every 2nd saturday of the month. hope this helps.
  15. fished my club tourny today and i was anxious to try the fat ikas i got in the mail yesterday. i caught 15 pounds by 7:30 and was culling by 8. i decided to throw an ika, because the bite slowed a little. i threw it tigh to shore, let is sink pulled it up once and let it fall, BAM--5.7 pounder. to make a long story short, we finished 3rd with 20.27 pounds. i went thru the only bag i had in about an hour. love 'em and the bait monkey already made me buy 10 more packs. i was using the black/blue color with a 5/0 gama ewg. those baits are super soft. am i using the right sized hook? anyway the ika is the real deal.
  16. i have been using them for over a year now, and i love them. i use the chunks (senior, tiny and regular) on my jigs and chattterbaits. i will occassionally use the baby paca as a trailer, but only when they won't hit my chunks. i love to flip the baby, and the regular paca's which are huge.

ok gentleman and ladies, i have been reading nothing but great things about the fat ikas. i just ordered some and i know to rig them upside down, but living in florida i don't know exactly how to work them. i will be fishing them mainly in the everglades, which has lots of pads. any suggestions on how to work this bait will be greatly appreciated. i intend on rigging the ika upside down, with a small 1/32 screw in weight and just dancing it through the pads. will this work? any suggestions? you all are great. can't wait for the responses.
  18. bring a surfboard and surf the south shore. diamond head and ala moana bowl are 2 great breaks. be respectful though. those hawaiians take their waves super serious.
  19. hey mekanik those chiclids work really well for snook, especially at a lock where fresh water runs into the intercoastal. in lake worth, you can't keep a chiclid in the water longer than 5 minutes before an oversized snook blast the noise out of it. i catch those chiclids all the time and give them to the ladies who work in my school cafeteria, they love 'em. try using a 3 inch split back rapala in trout color on ultraa light tackle. it is a blast! a great way to get a kid hooked on fishing.

please help me out here-- how is that even possible to have that big of a sack and not have a big fish that is top 9? the 9th biggest fish was 8.12 i am assuming that is around 8 pounds 2 ounces roughly and the winners had a sack of 44.92. someone please help me on this one.
  22. the boga grip works great. i believe it is IGFA approved as well.
  23. are there any ficus trees that are near the water? if there are, ficus berries are the best bait. if there are no ficus trees near the water, find one and pick as many berries as you can. make sure you pick green ones, red ones, and the juicy purple ones. you have to find which one they like. i will catch carp only if the bass/peacock/chiclid fishing is slow. my biggest carp bottomed out my 30# boga grip. they are a blast to catch. good luck
  24. black trick worm w/5/0 gama ewg. i run it on top. deadly in the summer.
  25. being born and raised in south florida, i truely have been blessed with both salt and fresh water fishing. i lived about 10 miles west of the beach, and my house was on a fresh water canal. when i was young (from 4years old to 15) i would fresh water fish at least 5 days a week catching bass, bream, gar turtles, small gators, and just about anything i could. my dad had an old 23 foot aquasport that he would take out about once a month to go dolphin and king fishing. when i bought my own house at the age of 30, i refinanced 3 years later and bought my pathfinder flats boat. i was heavily into snook and tarpon fishing, and i still do go occassionally. about 3 years ago i started bass tournament fishing, and needless to say--i am hooked. i am now in a bass club and fish every second saturday of the month in my clubs tourny. i also fish between 15-20 other tournaments a year as well. unfortunately imo i think the ocean is fished out. case and point-the last time i went dolphin fishing(about a year ago) i was thick in a school of about 20, 15 pound dolphin and i proceeded to catch 5 and that was plenty for us to take home and eat. before long, 5 other boats showed up and started fight for the remaining fish, which is no big deal, because it happens all the time when you get into a good school. about 20 minutes into watching all of this go down, another school of dolphin showed up and they were small, i mean they were no more than 12" long. there were about 50 of them. these idiots in the other boats, continued catching them, and they kept EVERY one of them. that was the last time i went offshore. it saddens me still to this day.
