  1. south florida is for real! everyone knows that the best athletes come from our great state of florida. wait another year or 2 and the hurricanes will be back.
  2. the only mono i will use is big game. i have braid on half my gear, and big game on the other half. like some have said, if it aint broke don't fix it.
  3. tpayne- find a new club. sounds like you are a great angler. any club would be stoked to have you as a member.
  4. just deal with it. you are not the only one in your club who is chapped i'm sure. great advice from the previous response, clear your mind and wax everyone ***! if your club has made last minute changes in the past, then perhaps you should start looking for a new club.
  5. if you have peacocks following your lures and they aren't striking, you are reeling too slow. also try making erratic moves with your bait. i have never seen a peacock that wouldn't take. if they follow it, they will eat it.
  6. do your jigs have an enclosed eye? sometimes power pro will slip thru that tiny space in the eye. also check the guides on your rod, they may have a nick that is causing your power pro to snap. i use pp on 3 spinners and 2 baitcasters and i use 10, 20, and 30# with 65# on my flippin stick, and i have never snapped my line setting the hook. i also use a palomar knot.
  7. great reels. i just switched to shimano because i got a deal of a lifetime. i still have 4 spinning reels from quantum that i love. both shimano and quantum make great products. some people like ford some like chevy. personnal preference.
  8. IMO the best trailers on the market! i flip the baby paca craw and i use the chunks when i am swimming a jig. i love them!
  9. i agree with george. go salt. there are lots of snook on the beaches. live bait if you can, if not flukes or jerkbaits.
  10. if i am fishing a tourny on my boat, i will have 8-10 rods rigged and ready. when i fish from my partners boat, i try to only bring 6 rods. my rods tend to get beat up more on ther peoples boats. this is usually the lineup: 1. hollow body frog 2. horny toad/ cane toad/ flappin shad/fluke/senko/ wacky 3. texas rig 4. flippin stick 5. crank bait 6. spinnerbait 7. slender pointer 8. carolina rig (mainly in summer) 9. spook 10. jig the funny thing is, usually i'll find a particular bait that works, and you fish that rod all day long. but just in case, i bring the whole garage.
  11. not sure if you have them up there, but ficus berries kill them down here in florida.

for swim jigs, outkast by a mile.
  13. bass pro makes a killer 12" worm that crushes big fish down here--especially now with it being brutal hot. i also make a 14'' homeade worm that i call the "big nasty" it does damage when all others fail.
  14. i like your thinking BB! croakers are THE best bait for snook.
  15. never tried storm swimbaits for bass, but the croaker color is deadly for snook.
  16. definitely use braid-power pro 65#. i have a rule of thumb when fishing frogs, rats, lizards etc.. keep your rod at 12 oclock, wait until the fish pulls it down to 3 oclock, them wack'em!
  17. i never leave home without a couple of bags of black trick worms. i have had more success with black than any other colors combined.
  18. i totally agree with sam--fishing in the rain is great! when it rains down here in florida, that always means frogs on top. i love to fish in the rain.
  19. solid 6 pounder. did ya let her go?
  20. blue crawfish everywhere here in florida. one of my favorite colors is okeechobee craw. blue with some green pumpkin. it is a killer!
  21. 10, 20 and 30 pound on all of my spinners. my flippin rod has 65#. i will sometimes use a flouro leader when fishing my pointers or other crankbaits. i love power pro in moss green. imo there is nothing better.
  22. avid i would love to come fish with y'all, but my club tourneys are the second saturday of every month. it seems that is when you guys have your get together. one of these days i will be able to make it.
  23. every year i try to take a couple of my students fishing with me. here are a couple of pics. those kids were stoked when they landed those fish.
  24. there is a stretch here in florida when the mouse catches BIG fish. i use them a lot, but when the nose rips, they are done. you can repair them with super glue, but for around 2 bucks i just buy more. great bait when its on.
