  1. i have never had the paint chip off right out of the box, but i have had the paint come off after catching a bunch of fish. i have over 20 traps, but i always throw the same one that has been beaten up. when i get home tonight i will post a pic to show you what i mean.
  2. go to wal mart and for $11.74 buy yourself some power pro braided line. i suggest 10# or 20# test. i don't know what you fish for, but this should work. braided lines work very well with spinning gear imo. i also use it on my baitcasters.
  3. as usual you guys are the best! thanks fellas.
  4. is there a tool i can buy to attach my spool to a cordless drill? the spooling station i have works great on baitcasters, but for spinning reels the line goes on twisted. there is a bait and tackle shop by my house that will put line on your spools for 5 bucks, but there has to be a way to do it yourself. please help.
  5. hildebrand and war eagle. the thinner the wire the better.
  6. 9.6 on a swamp donkey i also got an 11.7 at stick marsh. it wont allow me to put that pic up, i guess because it was a scanned pic.
  7. all i have to say papa tom is WOW! . those jigs from brovarney are HOT! i will be placing an order tonight.
  8. i love swimming a jig. not a chatter type jig, but a swimming jig with a trailer. i have great success with a bitsy by strike king with a paca chunk. i don't believe that bitsy is a "so called" swimming jig. can anyone anyone recommend a good swimming jig? thanks fellas.
  9. well said shadmaster. i too would like to read that "scientific study" to actually believe it. i use braid in both fresh and saltwater, and only in salt do i use a flouro leader.
  10. i guess it depends on where you live. impo i believe a falling pressure is best, and steady to be the worst. i would always fish this gated community when the pressure was moving either down or up, i never went when it was steady. however i have caught fish with all 3 types of pressure. there are times when the wife gives you the green light, and the pressure is obsolete.
  11. i totally and respectfully disagree with avid. there is no need to use mono backing when spooling a baitcaster with power pro. like some of the others have suggested, double sided tape works, and i use electrical tape when spooling mine. i have 8 of my baitcasters spooled with pp and 5 spinning rods spooled with it. the only reason a couple of my reels have p-line flouro, is when i fish a clear water lake, and here in florida, that is rare.
  12. walker cay chronicles w/flip pallot spanish fly i watch all of the bass shows with roland martins being the best. i just love how that guy exagerates the weights of his fish----4,5,6,7,8 pounder wooo son.
  13. i bought a male bg from matt lures about 6 months ago, and i still have not caught a fish on it. i am throwing it on 65# power pro. i usually just use a steady retrieve and vary the speed, but i still can't get bit. i am not so sure that they work here in florida. the canal system that i am fishing most of my tournys out of is really starting to heat up with big fish. i know a monster will hit this bait. am i doing something wrong? i know fourbizzle fishes them a lot, please someone help.
  14. rebel pop r zara spooks (in all sizes, especially the big one) jitterbug
  15. the only time i peg a weight, is when i am flipping. when i am using a texas rig, i just let the weight slide up and down the line.
  16. great story LBH. being a fifth grade teacher, i have seen first hand the amazing compassion that some kids posess. when a kid "overthrows" the ball to make another feel accepted it truly comes from that kids heart. some kids just have that "loving nature", some don't. fortunately for shay and his father, ALL of those kids on that field that day had it. now let me go wipe my eyes so my students don't see me crying. again, great story.
  17. he is famous for his "4,5,6,7,8, pounder" quote. and it is a 3 pounder.
  18. sandler(played golf with him--great guy) breasts or butt
  19. without a doubt the garmin72---IMO

i agree with LBH, sound definitely penetrates water. i have been in the keys in 10-15 feet of water and you can hear/feel the vibes from the radio in the boat. however, my friends in the boat have the music blasting, but you can definitely hear/feel it. i have also heard the constant pinging of a boats electronics. thank god for ipods.
  21. i just want to thank the person who started the thread about the slender pointer. i picked up a couple and used them yesterday for the first time during a tourny. i was blown away by the amount of fish i caught on this bait. i caught over 40 bass (mostly 13.9 inches and it was a 14 inch min) a pickeral, mudfish, cichlids, bream. i love this bait! will this bait catch bigger fish? i was using the ghost shad with the red hooks (which are amazingly sharp) and i was using a steady retrieve with the occasional twitch. kudos to the starter of the slender pointer thread.
  22. the original chatter bait is the only one that does not have a split ring. i use both the original chatter and the swim blade. i like them both. you are right about the gambler trailer being gummy. i always put a different trailer on when i fish the swim blade---i like the small ugly otter as a trailer.
  23. thank you fellas. i called my marine center and a new fuel pump is only $40. i was told it is not that hard to install, and i have the engines manual, so tomorrow i am going to give it a go. thanks guys.
  24. being a fifth grade teacher, i think the show is great. any program that allows someone to gain knowledge is ok in my book. trainwreck is bit much burley. just curious what is a "non trainwreck" show that you watch? oh by the way speaking of trains, who was the person who built the railroad through florida all the way down to the keys? that one is for you burley.
