  1. KVD 1.5s are my go to cranks. With Arashis coming in second. I did pick up a couple KVD 2.5s a week or so ago. Threw one a couple time last time I was out. Didn't catch anything in the short timeI used it but did have one follow it all the way up to the boat and swipe at it at the last second.
  2. Yep, if they don't work for you then no need to use them if you don't want. No fun forcing yourself to throw a lure you have no confidence in. Personally, I feel like I can catch a fish on a wacky rigged senko in a mud puddle lol. You can catch em so easily in some of the lakes around here with those that sometimes i feel like I use them TOO much and don't work on other techniques I like enough.
  3. Can you imagine how boring the Classic would be if they didn't have fish to bring to the stage?
  4. I like em all. PB&J, Blue Craw, Blue Bug, Bluegill, green pumpkin, pumpkin seed...all good colors. I could go on and on lol
  5. Strike King KVD 1.5 in Sexy Sunfish
  6. I like it. It wasn't one of my go to rods, last year but when i did use it i had no troubles. I use it for some cranks that run in the 6-10 foot range. Haven't caught any monsters, a bunch of 2+ pounders and a few pike in the 20inch range.
  7. I've got the St. Croix Triumph, haven't had any problems with it. Only had it for a year but its been fine. Would also recommend the Veritas.
  8. I have been using 10# fluoro for the last couple years. This year I'm switching to 15# braid with 8-10# fluoro leader.
  9. Here is a picture I took. From the left: Rage craw, baby craw, chunk, DB Craw
  10. Looks like you are in the same city as me. Lived around Flint my whole life and have never fished the river, just Mott and Holloway. You did hear about that warning to avoid the river a few weeks back right? From the Flushing area to Montrose?
  11. I always have a dropshot rig out on the deck of the boat. Yup, the line holds in the little pinch just fine. They do save some time if you are changing the leader length from hook to weight. I use hooks with the line clip on the bottom of them also.
  12. Catch a 4+ pounder. We (my dad and me) have never fished Erie, we are hoping to get down there at least once. Other than that, fish as much as I can and have fun doing it.
  13. My "cheapest" as in the combo i spent the least on is a 7ft Skeet Reese crankbait rod that I bought brand new off of my cousin for $20 and a $50 Black Max reel. Add 10lb mono and a KVD 1.5 in sexy sunfish and it was probably my most productive setup last year.
  14. I think the format is fine the way it is. It being different is, IMO, what made it so popular. I can't imagine how boring the show would be if they went to the 5 best fish. It would totally change the way the look at the lakes, change the way they fish, and will make a 2+ hour show unwatchable. Might as well just watch the Bassmasters of FLW TV shows.
  15. First off, that article is dated March 22nd, from what I have gathered from all of this that has been going on for a while now, it that the NCR doesn't gain the authority to vote and change anything until the 31st, meeting and possible vote to change to the seasons is next week on the 9th. The NRC Did however order that the DNR write up another recommendation without th CDR part. As to the tournament part of the changes, again from what I have read and understand, is that most people, including the writer of that article are not worried about the entire state waters, they are all lake st Clair people who don't want "their" waters messed with. I believe there is/was another meeting in Grandville today. Will be interesting the hear what was said and how it went. Honestly I'd be happy with just catch and release year round, and I think in the end we'll get at least that, which will include lake St Clair. They have a chance to vote on the 9th, hopefully I'll be out fishing on the 10th
  16. I switched to those hooks last year, haven't had a problem with them yet. Not sure about using them in saltwater though since I don't fish it.
  17. I fish senkos a lot, and since Yamamoto doesn't do the bulk pack in the 5inch baby bass i decided to stock up and try to at least have 10 packs of them before we started fishing this year. Ordered my last 3 packs with this sale, along with a couple of the new shadow raps. My order should be here tomorrow
  18. I'm pretty much like everyone else. I primarily wacky rig them, soI'll use a Senko just about anywhere under 8-10 feet. We got one lake around here where you can take this canal back to a pond. Talk about a confidence booster for senkos/stick baits. You can throw just about anything out there, crank baits, dropshot, or anything else you can think of and maybe catch a few fish. Throw a wacky rig Senko and you won't stop catching them.
  19. Berkley XT and Bass Pro Excel are my choices for mono.
  20. Got another order in about a week ago, thought we should get this thread going again. Left: Punchin jigs-Blue Bug(Top),Blue Craw(Bottom) Middle:Grid Iron Brush Jigs-Blue Bug (Top), Summer Craw(Bottom) Right:Grid Iron Arkey Jigs-PB&J(Top), Green Pumpkin(Bottom)
  21. Good question. Skipping docks and other cover is something I am planning on working on this year. I have bought a few Siebert arkey head jigs. Just need to know if there is a certain line I need to use. I was looking to go to about 15lb fluoro. As soon as our pond out back thaws out, I'll be out there giving it a try.
  22. My #1 last year was a KVD 1.5 in Sexy Sunfish
  23. Its just wrong to post in this thread and not include a picture Haven't had a chance to use them yet, but I can't wait to try these swim jigs out Top: Blue Shad(I think?) Bottom Left: Pumpkin seed Bottom Right: Bluegill
  24. Yup, thats all I use for crankbaits in either 10 or 12 lb.
