Favorite Crank Colors...just Curious...

Featured Replies

I know that you should use different colors and rattles on crankbaits for different situations but what is your overall confidence/favorite color for a square bill crank, medium diving crank, and deep diving crankbait? just out of curiosity. rattles or no rattles.

thanks,

The 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait in Bluegill

And second place isn't even close . . .

Norman middle N spring craw. All time best crank for me

Three main colors or variants I use are bluegill, shad, craw. Cant go wrong with colors of that sort regardless of depth range. If I had to choose one color though, it probably be a sexy shad.

Bluegill/Perch, something Shad, and Chartreuse Black Back. With Bluegill/Perch getting most of the work.

At risk of greatly oversimplifying, I'd say, bluegill, sexy shad, blue/silver....

but, I can't just leave it at that...I'm not going out without couple of different depths that have orange throat or belly....and a couple of depths that are fairly dark (black, brown, etc.)

The Neon Orange & Chartruse color is my most

Hated color, I love to throw these with anger & hostility

I try to destroy these, throwing them in hard rock

Areas,etc.. Never underestimate the power of Ugly!

Anything with an orange belly seems to do better where I fish.

Anythjng bluegill

My three favorites are firetiger, baby bass, and trout.  All of which I airbrush myself.

I've had the most success with Sexy Shad.

Chartreuse/black

TN shad

red/craw

tilapia

plain shad

I throw a variety of crankbaits but a few of the favorites and Spro little jon, a variety of norman's, rebel deep wee r's and  Marty Burns balsa baits.

Anything with an orange belly seems to do better where I fish.

It is really funny, my dad being a mostly lake erie fisherman his whole life just about refuses to throw anything orange colored and it has kind of rubbed off onto me though I do use some. Seems most people love their orange colored cranks.

I like any variations of bluegill/craw/shad at any depth. The biggest thing that changes the variation is water clarity/sun.

I fish mainly on Lake Martin in Alabama.  Theres a lot of "sun fish" is what we call em, basically bream with an orange belly and orange gills.  I caught a catfish with a perch colored x-rap last year, that was definitely a first.

yea those dang catfish will get ya. There are plenty of orange belly gills and perch up here too. I own one of the perch x-raps too. I just need to not hesitate to use orange as much as I do.

Yea that lure caught me a lot of fish.  I caught the catfish off the dock with 8lb line, knew it was too big so I gave my rod to my brother while I ran to get the net.. he tried to pull the fish out of the water for some reason and the line snapped... lure gone.
