  1. Thanks for the advice. So where are the bass and reds hangin around during the winter? Deeper or shallower?
  2. My mom's boyfriend is driver for an RV company so we will stay in that until he delivers it. So that's nice. But I should use bigger baits for em right? And any recommendations on where to find the fish down there this time of year?
  3. Alright I'll look into those places. But what kind of tackle would you use for reds?
  4. Hello, I live in Illinois and I love bass fishing. I'm gonna be taking a trip down to Orlando and I could use some advice on where to fish, maybe even go for some redfish. Anyone know the area and think you could help me out? And I will be fishing out of a kayak. Feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks. -Will.
  5. Is a Transducer arm a necessity for a Lowrance fish finder on a kayak? I'm not sure if i need to by one or now for my setup. Here is the link to the transducer arm I'm thinking about buying. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! http://www.yakattack.us/CBO_SB1_316_18_TRA1_p/cbo-sb1-316-18-tra1.htm -Will
  6. Welcome! I might be visiting Canada this summer for a camping trip, you do any muskie fishing?
  7. Welcome!
  8. Welcome to the forums, Are you experienced with a jig?
  9. You could run a smaller crankbait to find where the fish are located, but i usually look for grass, muck, or branches that might hold fish. I also like to find big branches and lay them out in the water and stack some branches on and around them, then next time you visit the pond it could hold fish. Kind of like a fish crib, I like to call them Bass-Tats. (Bass habitats) -Will
  10. I have now! Thanks Glenn it helped allot. -Will
  11. I fish a lake in Illinois where I rent boats and they have the option of adding a fish finder, and the one they give you to use is the fishin buddy. It isn't bad or anything but its about as simple of a fish finder I've seen but in that aspect it still works great and finds fish! As for the other one I am not familiar with it, and i do not ice fish. hope the incite helps! -Will
  12. I've been searching for a small size simple fish finder to fit to my kayak. I have found that the Lowrance Elite 4x is probably my best choice. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it and what their thoughts would be on it. Can anybody help me out? Thanks. And here is the link if anyone wants to take a gander, http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Fishfinder/Elite4x-en-us.aspx -Will
  13. Hello Illinois dwelling companions, i have been on the hunt for a good fishing club/team in the Chicago area. anyone got any good suggestions for me?
  14. I've been looking to get into some kind of bass fishing team or club but haven't had any luck finding any in my area, does anyone know of any? -Will.
  15. Oh, and when you did use it you used a flouro leader right?
  16. Well it's good to hear other side of the product, but I've heard only good things till now. So do you find it just less strong or what other problems have you found?
  17. I had a Great Blue Herron come and take a bluegill from between my feet at a pond once, pretty cool.
  18. The only reason I'm not really sure is because it feels much smoother and a little wider than most of my other braid, so I just wondered if you could use it as more of a flouro with the strength benefits of a braid. -Will
  19. So I just spooled up my new baitcaster with some flourobraid (Spyderwire), and I was wondering if it digs into itself like traditional braid or if it is more like flourocarbon in the aspect that it does not dig into itself. And is it necessary to tie a Palomar knot opposed to a regular clinch knot, also should I still use a flouro leader like regular braid? Or any other helpful info. on it. Responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Will
  20. Thanks for the notice!
  21. I love all these responses, they make me feel better about using so much of my and my parents money. But it's all true no use in fighting it, it will always come back even worse. I've found the best way to control it is to just stay out of the big stores and try to go to shows and flea markets where they have better deals than these large corporation stores. (Bass Pro, Cabelas, Dicks, etc.)
  22. I like fishing square bills and that's what I usually do early on, along with deeper cranks and jerk baits. But I wanted to try and start jigging the bottom more, any tips for jigging or techniques used by some of you? -Will
  23. Winter is beginning to slowly end, and that means the season is about to begin. But I thought it would be helpful to share some of your favorite techniques and methods to catching these early season bass. So I guess my question would be what are your favorite, or cost-effective methods for catching bass right off the bat? -Will
  24. I LOVE fishing ponds, hence the name Pondlvr.
