What's The Best Bass Boat And What's The Best Bass Boat For The Money?
Ask this question to 10 different people and you will get 10 different answers. Stick with any major brand and you will be getting a very good boat. Look at tritons, skeeters, nitros, rangers, and champions and see which you like best. The best overall brand would have to be a top dollar brand, like bass cat, Allison, Phoenix, etc. sounds like you don't want those though. Ultimately, look at the major brands, find the layout you like best and you can't go wrong.

Fishing In Strong Current
Everybody here should know that there is only one correct answer to this question- you need power poles. You can run from the bait monkey, but you can't hide!

I Need Help Selecting Swimbait.
If it were me, I would be buying a wake bait like the ms slammer or a floating spro bbz-1. I bought a huddleston (rof 12), mattlures ultimate bluegill and mattlures baby bass this time last year. They all got stuck too easily so I never throw them because I don't want to lose a $30 lure. Get a floating swimbait and you can fish it above and around the thickest, nastiest cover, where the big bass live.

Don't forget the ramp doesn't open till 8 am. They opened it around 7:40 this morning but normally they wait until exactly 8. Caught a few on a jig there today, nothing special though.

How Does Each Brand Ride?
You asked how each brand rode, and no one seems to have talked specifically about Triton. I have a 18'6 Triton. I went to Lake of the Ozarks this past weekend (Yes, the weekend!) and rode in the main channel at 3pm on a saturday. Huge waves were coming from every direction and I didn't get a drop of water on me. I was only doing 30mph trimmed all the way down. My boat has a fairly large freeboard and can stay on a plane at low speeds. In my opinion my boat rides great, but that is obviously biased. The only other glass bass boat I have ridden was a 22' BassCat which rode excellent, but it was way bigger. I will say, however, that champions were the most prevalent bass boats I saw at Lake of the Ozarks, if that means anything to you. Good luck!

Kc Area Bass Resource Fall Meet Up
Let me know what you guys decide. I can't justify driving to Johnny's tomorrow night as there is a good chance I won't be able to make the fall meet up, because I don't know my fall schedule yet. How late can I decide to go to the meet up? I would just be driving and not staying the night.

Boat Options Around $35K Or Less
I'm a little confused about what you're asking here, are you just asking what bass boat we think you should get for 35k?

Sounds like you're in Jackson county, too. I fish Blue Springs lake and Prairie Lee lake often. Never fished longview, though. BS is a tough nut to crack. Never caught good numbers there but have caught a couple 3lbers, and I have only fished there a few times. PM me if you want more details, and if you ever see a white Triton out there thats me! Nice boat, btw!

Frustration Setting In (Success From Shore Not Translating To Boat)
Have you considered that maybe the fish just aren't holding deep? I have done a fair amount of research on structure fishing, and I understand that it is all the rage on the forums right now. That said, it is not always the predominant pattern in a lake. If I understand correctly you are catching fish shallow from the bank but not catching fish deep from your boat. Why not just fish shallow in your boat where you catch fish? Just a thought, good luck!

2014 Go To Lure
Black and blue jig. I started out using the strike king pro model jig , but I got some siebert outdoors jigs recently and they are better and cheaper than anything you can get from bass pro. 1/2 oz black/blue brush jig specifically.

Summer Time Fishing From The Bank
Personally, if I were going to be fishing from shore this time of year I wouldn't bother with trying fishing deep. Yes, fishing deep is all the rage right now on these forums, but it is very impractical for shore fisherman. Even in a boat with side scan, down scan, sonar and topo maps those deep-water sweet spots are hard to find. That said, here is what I would be doing: Set the alarm. The fish are going to be shallow and most active in the early morning and late evening. I prefer mornings. Try to be on the lake by first light. Try fishing buzz baits, poppers, chuggers, or really any topwater. This is also a good time for T-rigged plastics. Depending on the day, the fish may stay shallow where you can catch them all day, or they may pull off the banks as soon as the sun rises. Good luck!

What Should My Next Combo Be?
Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my arsenal of rods and reels. I find myself quite confused, however, when it comes to which rod to choose for which technique. Here is what I currently have: Baicaster: BPS ProQualifer 6.4:1 reel 7' BPS ProQualifier MH Fast action rod Spooled with 50lb braid w/ short mono leader Spinning: BPS Johnny morris spinning reel 6'6" Berkeley lightning rod Medium power (doesn't say action). spooled with 12lb YoZuri Hybrid I usually use the spinning for throwing T-Rigged plastics, drop shots, and a shaky head. I usually throw crank baits, topwater, frogs, spinnerbaits and jigs on my bait caster. Based on what I have and what I throw, what do you guys suggest I buy? Should I get a completely new setup (if so, what kind?), replace both of the rods I currently have and keep the reels, or something else? Looking to keep it under $220 or so. Thanks guys! Brian

Tournament July 12! Any Tips Or Advice?
Lol. I bought my boat used from a relatively successful tourney angler. The very last thing he said to me was "always carry your rain gear." I thought that was funny given all the other important things he could have said. He was right, nothing ruins a day like having to make a run back to the ramp in the rain without even a jacket to wear. Brian

Tournament Wins
Here is my helpful hint: get a new partner. Fishing tournaments is gonna be tough and you don't wanna be with a guy who acts like that when things do get tough.

Trailered Width, Am I Sol?
I know most john boats are narrower than a bass boat, so those might fit. That said, I have a bass boat and would suggest one over a john boat. I can measure the storage width of my '07 triton tr186 this evening. I store it in a two car garage and there is still room for a car in the garage when the boat is there. Good luck!

Removing Second Console
Hey guys, I am thinking of removing the second console on my Triton Tr-186. The second console was added by the previous owner, meaning the boat was bought new as a single console. What are your guys opinions on this? Will I want it back on as soon as I take it off? Also, what could I do about the holes that were drilled to put the console on? Thanks! Brian

Can I Recommend A Spot For The Dec?
I think this assumption of whether or not people are legal based on appearance is what is causing some feathers to be ruffled here.

Lake Of The Ozarks
Is it really $175 to enter? It sounds fun but that seems pretty steep.

Lake Of The Ozarks
What color jigs do you like for LOZ? I tried out a green pumpkin jig when i was there with no luck.

Lake Of The Ozarks
Do you catch many big fish on the buzzbait? I mainly get dinks on them. Also, how heavy a jig are you guys using to fish the docks?
-
Lake Of The Ozarks
I hardly feel qualified to answer this, but I took a 2 day trip there june 1-2 so i'll give it a go. If I were there in october for the Bash I would be throwing a Spook or senko on a spot remover. Hopefully I could jump between coves fishing the dock that protrudes most, which i have heard is supposed to hold the most bass in the fall. If I were to go now it would be a 12" worm in 25' deep brush piles or a big flutter spoon in the same spot. Brian
