  1. I agree with you, this is the reason I haven't ever been black friday shopping before. I think what I will do is show up around 6 am, if they have them great and if not oh well, its only a 10 minute drive anyways!
  2. Uh-oh. You think it is even worth me going? Thanks for the quick reply btw!
  3. Hey guys, I just say my local BPS has the Pro Qualifer combo on sale for $70 tomorrow. I've wanted this reel for a while and really want to get it, but haven't ever black friday shopped before. Sale is 5-11 am, limited quantities, no rain checks etc. When should I get there? 5 am? Earlier? Thanks! Brian
  4. Good point, I didn't think of that. Only downside to that is the fact that when I troll and fish (aka no wind haha), even 1st gear on my 30lb TM is too fast to fish even a spinnerbait. I feel like a 70 or 80lb tm would be strictly for going from spot to spot and would be too fast to fish while trolling in first gear. Either way B.O.A.T. holds true!
  5. First off, welcome to Bass Resource! Stop by the Introductions thread and introduce yourself. I personally only have one TM, but I have seen some guys in the same boat you and I have with two transom mounted trolling motors. I don't see why you couldn't do what you are saying (one TM in front, one in back). As for running 1 or 2 batteries, I personally would start off trying to use only one battery, and if you need more run time go buy another. This way you can see whether or not you need another battery. One thing to consider is how you would steer both motors while they are both running, it could be a little tricky. Ultimately though 2 TM's sounds like a good idea, both for speed and battery life. Brian Edit: Added bonus to having the 10E model is that you can wire both Trolling motors to one battery without running cords all over the deck!
  6. Thanks or the advice guys, I have decided to call the guide to book the trip some time this week. I will make sure to post pics after. Thanks again!
  7. Sounds like a good time. I will definitely need a guide. Never fly fished for trout in my life and I only have a day to be there. Thanks for all the advice, I will post after the trip about how it goes.
  8. Thanks for the reply. We ski at Beaver Creek, one of the Vail resorts. Did you have a guide or were you alone?
  9. Hey guys, my family takes a ski trip to colorado each year after christmas for around a week. We go to colorado, like the title says. This year we plan to take a day off skiing to do other things. The rest of my family is taking a snow-mobile tour, but last year I picked up a winter fly fishing brochure. I am considering doing that, but I have a few questions: 1. Is winter fly fishing for trout even productive? Or is it just to target the uninformed (about fishing) skiers? 2. Would I have sufficient skill to fly fish? Over the summer I learned to cast a fly rod (thanks, flyfisher), but that was without gloves, nothing behind me, not aiming to land the fly anywhere etc. etc. Any advice would be appreciated. If nobody here knows much about trout fly fishing I will probably ask this on a fly fishing forum, but I figured I'd ask here first. Brian
  10. Hey guys, looking for a new BC reel in the price range of $120-130. I am experienced with bait casters and am open to all options, however i do need to buy it new. Thanks! Brian
  11. Thankfully my worst "the one that got away story" can now be laughed at. My brother and I were new to fishing, and looking for more challenge than bluegill, turned our efforts to bass. We watched every video and read every article we could. We bought an inflatable boat on Walmart.com to get off the dock we had access to. After paddling across the lake and back, we were fishing from the dock when my brother caught our first ever bass on a crank bait. I was 50 ft away on the boat, so he decided to just let the fish sit in the water (on the lure) while I paddled back. We both got a good look at the fish, and it was a solid 2lber (or so i know now). Obviously the fish immediately got off with a slack line and plenty of room to swim. My brother and I, having only seen bass on youtube videos, thought the fish had to be somewhere between 6 and 8 lbs (in our defense, the fish was chunky). A week later we both landed our first bass (each around 1 lb) when we realized the fish that got off was no where near 6 lbs, and that it was really not an ounce over 2 lbs. Good memories. Brian
  12. Those jigs look incredible. Ive been thinking about ordering some for a while and might need to do that soon!
  13. If i remember correctly I have seen these threads before. Sometimes i go to the general bass fishing section and choose a random page (usually between 200 and 300) and start reading. However, I just searched for a few minutes and cant find the thread. Hopefully somebody else can post a link to it.
  14. Yep. The bite was hot so I decided to throw a jig, and i caught a 1.5 lber. Came back to the same lake the next day, chucked out a jig as far as i could (from shore) and immediately the fish in my avatar hit, which still is my pb!
  15. Welcome!
  16. I'd suggest the 6" huddleston. Great action and can be casted on regular gear.
  17. Abu Garcia Silver Max. Only has magnetic brakes, but I didn't have any trouble learning on mine. I would suggest he learn with braid, though. Makes backlashes much easier to get out. Brian
  18. I Would love a TM like that for my bass raider, my hand controlled one drives me crazy. That one looks pretty expensive though. I have plans to make a homemade "conversion kit" for my TM. If it works I'll post it here and the Bass Raider thread in the Bass boats section of the forum. Brian
  19. Watermelon Candy or Black/Blue
  20. How deep? By the dam it is 50 feet deep, and I would guess that is below the thermocline. The creek channel runs the length of the lake so I can fish it at any depth. I attached screenshots of the topo map if that helps. Brian
  21. It is a 150 acre lake with two small feeder creeks, but even my bass raider can't go very far up these creeks. I do have a topo map I can post when I get home this evening.Brian
