Why Are People So Inconsiderate
This happens to me a lot, too. When my brother and I fish from our dock, boats would come up and pitch on the dock we were fishing, and cast all around us. Then when they got stuck on the dock they would ask us to get them off! Now whenever a boat gets close, whichever of us has on a heavier lure makes a long cast in their direction. Never too close to their boat, but close enough to mark our territory. It normally works. That said, there are a ton of nice boaters. Most go around the dock or go around our boat when we're anchored. One asked if I needed any help when I had to go swimming to free a swim bait. I try to do my part when I boat, too. I once unsnagged a cat fisherman by taking his line and pulling from behind (I saw he was stuck and asked if he wanted help). I've never seen an old man so happy before!

Effective Way To Fish With Manual Trolling Motor
This is what I do, too. Only issue is first gear is too fast to fish anything but cranks or spinnerbaits.

Transducer On Bass Raider
I looked into mounting it on the hull and decided it wasn't for me. It would likely get torn off putting it atop the suburban lol. I just bought the TM mounting bracket for the transducer I have and it works perfect. It is no hassle with taking the TM on and off, the TM has a little rudder that sticks lower than the trandsucer does anyways. I just zip tied the wire to the TM shaft and plug it into the head unit whenever I get to the lake and put the TM on the boat. It only takes another ~10 seconds to set it up with the fishfinder there than without. I did't want to mount to the hull because It would either have to be above the water line or mounted inside the hull, both of which don't allow me to see the water temp. If it was below the water line I would have to seal it, and be very careful when loading and unloading. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, and I just confused you even more I could post a pic tomorrow.

I wrote a paper on banning pesticide use a month or two ago. A little dull but it was easy to argue and I found a lot of info on it.

What Makes Rage Tail Soft Plastics Different?
Okay guys, I have a question. I've been a member on BR for a year and buy from the site sponsors whenever possible, so I picked up a pack of rage tails ~5 months ago. I put them on a jig as a trailer and the action looked great, but every second or third cast they would slide down the hook. The netbait paca craws I use never do this. Is there a fix to them sliding down the hook on my jig?

Caught My First Fish On A Spinnerbait But....
It really is addictive, second only to topwater in my book. It is fun to fish because it is so fast, and in my experience the fish hammer it.

What Music Do You Listen To While Fishing?
I'm not gonna lie, some of you guys act like fishing is your job. For me it is just about being out on the lake, relaxing and having a good time. I have had some very enjoyable days where no fish were caught, it was just nice to be on the lake, enjoy my brother's company, and explore a few creeks. As for this relating to music, I do whatever I feel like. If somebody else is on the boat we just talk without music, but if I am by myself I will play music. Whenever I do play music I will put a hip-hop/rap pandora station. Nothing too loud so it doesn't bother anybody else, though.

Top Secret Lures
Berkley Havoc 5" bottom hopper in black. It has caught me more fish on a dropshot than any roboworm or hand-poured plastic I have tried.

College Budget Kayak/boats/float Tubes? Do They Exist?
Hmmm, that's a tough one. I suppose you could go with a smaller kayak, but I'll let somebody else chime in on that matter. I have a bass raider 10e. To set one up new it is about $800-900, but they sell used for pretty cheap. I don't know whether or not this would fit in the bed of your truck, but it is a nice fishing platform. It is even light enough for two people to lift on top of a suburban (trailers are overrated lol). I looked into a float tube when I was looking for a cheap watercraft and decided they weren't for me. If you live in a warmer climate they might work, but you still have to include the cost of waders and fins. I also wasn't crazy about being so low to the water, it looks hard to fish from. As someone who owns a "budget bass boat" along the lines of what you are looking for, here is my suggestion: Don't buy anything for the time being. There are so many unforeseen problems that are inherit in small watercraft. They are very prone to the wind and must be anchored unless a foot controlled trolling motor can be had. They can feel very cramped after 4-5 hours on the water. Oftentimes they can be more work to load and unload than a trailered boat, because of loading/unloading gear etc. You can't bring friends to fish with you (unless you go with a used Bass Raider, I can have one friend). Atop of that, you are in college. I imagine long-term storage of this boat could become an issue. Wait till you graduate to buy a nicer boat that you can enjoy for years to come. So what do you do until then, watch fishing videos on youtube? Not exactly. I would suggest trying to find a few good ponds in your area you could fish frequently. This is cheaper, easier, and the fishing can be just as good, or even better, once you find the right pond. I'm not trying to be a debbie downer and discourage you from getting a new boat, I'm just pointing a few key points of small boat ownership. Just my 2 cents. Brian Edit: after re-reading my post, I realized that a lot of this depends on where you want to fish. I fish a larger, windy lake that isn't ideal for my slow, wind-prone boat that spins like a top. If you are looking to fish smaller lakes/ponds that may not even have ramps, I would go for a kayak like you linked above.

What Are Some Cheaper Plastics That Are Effective For You?
Berkley Havoc and Netbait are my two main plastic brands. I love them both and they're dirt cheap. I also use stik-o's but don't use any other BPS plastics.

The Mistake We All Make.
Back to the original topic, I think people fish the past because they don't know what else to do. Take me for example. I have been fishing 1.5 years with only the BR to help me. This past friday, a friend catches a bass from shore on a spinnerbait. I go out saturday and sunday throwing a spinnerbait and get skunked. Why? I didn't know what else to throw. I think people rely on specific past results because they don't have the knowledge to adapt to the present, like me this weekend. Now to find those pre-spawn bass and see what they want to eat! So I aree with both sides of the argument. Fishing the moment is crucial to success, but without any past knowledge I have as much chance to catch a fish as when i first picked up a rod.

Any Problems With Booyah Spinnerbaits?
Booyah are the only spinnerbaits I throw. I had one that I caught 10+ fish on, on all sorts of days. Finally snagged it and had to break off, but it has been replaced by a few others exactly like it.

Done With Bass Pro Shop
I was there yesterday. The employees at the local BPS are quite knowledgeable, actually. The timeshare people will ask but don't persist after you say "no." They didn't even bother to ask yesterday because it was just my brother and I there, and we're both 16. On a side note, this thread kinda makes me want to work there. It sounds like some stores have crappy employees, and I know enough to help a lot of customers. Maybe I'll look into it as a summer job.

Hookups With Floating Frog?
Follow the other guys advice, but also realize that frogs are hard to hook up with. In open water I probably land 80% of all strikes but in super heavy stuff its probably closer to 50%.

How many kids are in your guy's bass clubs? My high school has 2000 kids so I'd be interested to see how many would want to join.
