  1. Where do you guys find the bass during the late fall through the winter? I fish a small lake that is basically one large main lake, no coves. I've read all the winter and fall fishing articles on the "fishing articles" section but none of them really hone in too much on where to find the fish. Thanks! Brian
  2. My ads always show what I was last looking at on Basspro.com. Talk about tempting! Brian
  3. I hired a guide to fish LOZ this past spring. Massive cold front and 2,000 boat tournament led to us getting no fish. That said, he obviously had an unbelievable knowledge of the lake, some days the fish just won't bite! We went back 2 weeks ago and he gave us $50 off and we caught around 13 fish in a few hours! Brian
  4. I have the male U2 bluegill. Its incredibly realistic. No fish on it yet, however. Dont fish it much due to snags, though.
  5. I thread the bait on the hook. They have a pretty big profile anyways, and I think they would hang off too far hooked once through the body. Personally, they are tied for my favorite jig trailers. Rage tail is my other favorite (incredible action) but they slide down the hook sometimes.
  6. What kind of worm do you wacky rig with that? If it was a senko-type bait it seems like the rig would just lie flat. Isn't the point of a shakey head to hold it upright? that said, this rig looks like something the fish haven't seen and would probably work.
  7. I have heard excellent things about the Spro bbz1 floating and the MS Slammer or mini slammmer. As for swimbaits vs sammy I would suggest to look at your lake. I have a nice Huddleston, Mattlures bluegill and mattlures baby bass that I hardly use because they get stuck too much. The best way to fish swimbaits is very slow, so if your lake has too much cover you will get stuck. If its a rocky reservoir or something like that I would go for sinking, but if there's a lot of cover I would get a floating so you can actually use it without the fear of getting stuck. Hope this helps. Brian
  8. Same here. Mainly just because I already have a ski jacket and pants lying around, but they work great either way.
  9. Yep. One day a friend and I were using frogs at a pond with lots of lily pads. He was using black, I was using white. Both booyah pad crashers. He had 10 strikes and I had 0. I dont know anything about Spro's bronzeye series so I cant help you there.
  10. And here I thought I was the only one that still took photos like that. Nice fish!
  11. I dont have enough time to really follow the playoffs, but I hope its not the cardinals lol.
  12. I always target bass, so yeah, I do get disappointed. The other day I caught a 1.5 lb white bass. It fought harder than any one of my three 4+ lbers this season. I was sure I had a new pb, then I see its a white bass and got pretty disappointed. Fight was good, though. Brian
  13. Ok, that makes sense. As for the reel, i agree with everybody else. Get a good one and it will last you a long time. Brian
  14. Im not trying to be rude here, but how is it that you are asking for free jigs and soft plastics in the Tackle section but talk about buying a new reel here? If i was so tight on money I was asking for free jigs and plastics, you can bet I wouldn't be buying any new reels. Brian
  15. What line do you use, then?
  16. I have submerged my reel (Abu garcia silver max) multiple times, usually putting my rod underwater to try and free a snagged lure in shallow water. I personally haven't done anything after submerging it. If this isn't right, hopefully somebody will tell us what is, but the reel still operates just fine. That said I oil and lube it religiously and overall take great care of it. Edit: As far as taking it apart, if you are mechanically inclined you could probably do it yourself, but if I had a reel that nice I would send it off to Delaware Valley Tackle (Site sponsor) to have them do it right. I service mine myself and now am completey comfortable doing it, but when i first took it apart I messed up the threading on the bolt the handle goes on, and now my handle is always a little loose and crooked lol. Still works good though. If you do take it apart, watch bassresource videos on youtube for how to do it. Brian
  17. Texas Rig. Went from never having caught a fish one one to having one tied on 24/7 in one year.
  18. That's a good looking fish! Good Job!
  19. I am in the same boat with you, OP. I still have $20 on a BPS giftcard but really have no desire to go to bass pro. I don't need anything and am content with what i have (for now at least, I might hear a new baitcaster calling my name for christmas lol).
  20. I go fishing to get my mind off stuff. So normally I just relax and focus on what my lure is doing.
  21. Texas Rig. very versatile, and it catches fish!
  22. Quality for me. Catching a few average fish in a few hours is fun and all, but one or two big fish alone can make it a great day.
  23. I only have one in Missouri. Didn't even have to get it until late summer when I turned 16, so i guess its not all of 2013, but oh well.
