  1. After reading this thread I feel a little better about my lost lures. I rarely lose T-rigs, but the plastics get torn up and stuff. I rarely, if ever, lose crank baits and top waters. Somehow, though, no matter how many jigs I buy my jig box never gets full. I swear i lose at least one of those a trip, if not two or three.
  2. 13 is a dang good rod, but the ergonomics are a bit off. The trigger grip is a little uncomfortable and the butt section is a little too short. It is still a great rod, but those things may bother some more than others. I Palm my reel which makes them both unnoitcable.
  3. Unlike the rest of you guys, I didn't really expect to catch my pb the day I did. I had only been fishing for about 6 months and I was just going to fish for a few hours at a new lake a friend showed me. About a half hour in something thumped my jig and I reeled in a 5lber.
  4. I had two cherrywoods (not sure if they were hd but they cost $25) that both broke reeling in fish. Hope you have better luck than I did.
  5. What's your gameplan? Where are you launching from? I can't fish it this year but I am quite interested in the whole idea.
  6. Straight fluoro for me. It is much more sensitive in the wind and I don't have to worry about retying my leader knot every trip.
  7. Are you getting excited for the big bass bash?
  8. I seem to lose lures faster than I can buy them. I wish I had more tackle, I know that if i get on a good pattern there is a chance I will run out of the plastics or not have a similar lure if i lose the one that is working. I'm thinking about buying used off the flea market just to stock up a box of jigs and a box of crank baits.
  9. You're comparing apples to oranges, bud. What happened to you is straight theft. What OP did isn't. He found a bag, waited to try and return it to its owner, and nobody showed up to claim it. If he didn't take it somebody else would have, and they may not even consider posting a note like the guys here are suggesting to.
  10. If there were anything I were doing that was obviously unsafe, then I would not mind someone pointing it out. I have only seen a few unsafe boaters, none of which i could have said anything to. First was a wakeboard boat. We're on a 750 acre lake and this lime green wakeboard boat was driving within 30 feet of me (casting to shore in my boat), halfway between idling and planing so they were making a huge wake. First two times I figured it was an accident, second two times I waved for them to get away, fifth time was gonna be a big fat middle finger but they did't come by again. Other time was a bass boat going way too fast trimmed way too high and turning way too hard when he hit the wake of another boat. I thought he was gonna crash for sure but somehow he didn't.
  11. I have always believed rattles in murky, silent in clear. I fish murky so i normally use rattles.
  12. Know what is worse than any amount of shyness, social anxiety or any of that? Regret. Do you wanna look back in 1 year and regret not talking to her? Of course not. Just go talk to her. It will take a lot of courage, but just be confident and do it. What is the worst that can happen? She doesn't seem like she wants to talk and you go back to calking to your buddy about fishing? Just start with "Hi, I'm Wyatt" Good luck, let us know how it goes.
  13. I get overwhelmed by having too many types of lures I don't know how to use, and I don't have too much money to drop on lures. Crankbaits/lipless crankbaits: 8-10 total Jigs-10 total Jerkbaits: 5 suspending, 4 rapala countdown Topwater: 12-14 Terminal: one 3600 3/4 full Soft plastics: I have a big bin full. Probably between 40 and 60 bags of all sorts I'm definitely still building my tackle collection, but I feel like right now I am limited more by my knowledge than my lack of lures, so I feel pretty good where I am now. I buy lures 2 or 3 at a time, based on what I think will be working on my next trip.
  14. James A Reed isn't exactly great fishing, but it is easily accessible from shore. Pretty highly pressured, though. Like fishes in Trees said, there are some main lake points on Smithville that could be easily accessed from shore.
  15. Same here. Elaztech+screw lock= bad time
  16. Just a coincidence. No lure can be truly guaranteed to catch fish every time, but the senko is probably the most consistent lure for simply catching fish.
  17. I have a Citica and I love it. I heard of some issues regarding the Revo S's reliability, and I wanted to give Shimano a try. Assuming the Citica proves to be durable, I will be picking up another one next year. Great reel. Fits perfect in my palm, if that matters to you.
  18. Personally, I would take a guy who is fun to talk to, can back a trailer, and can hop on the trolling motor while I am retying over a guy who pays any day! Now, if we're talking a 2 hour drive to the lake and then some long runs on the lake, chipping in $20 might be appreciated. For just a normal trip to a local lake what I said above holds true.
  19. LOZ on Labor Day Weekend?!? You've got some brave buddies! Also, can anybody tell me how much it would be for a non-resident Kansas fishing license for a year? I want to come fish some of the tournaments you guys are having but need a KS license first. I looked on the website and I couldn't find it anywhere, short of purchasing one which I'm not ready to do yet.
  20. Make sure it has column trim AND a hot foot. One is worthless without the other IMO.
  21. I love my triton! it is an '07 Tr186 with a 150 merc. If you have any specific questions that I could answer i would be happy to. The Nitro z8 is a very good looking boat as well. Skeeter and ranger make very good boats but I'm not familiar with them.
