  1. i would go 7'1 MH are you getting the *** ($100) rod or the *** ($250) rod? there two different rods...
  2. DX745 is one beast of a rod. the power thats in that rod is prettty amazing. rods is more than sensitive enough for me, i cal tell when im dragging a football head from rock bottom to a snand bar and back to rock again, and can feel when something is on my bait, like a piece of grass. any bass under 4lbs dosent even have a chance at fighting, i got 17lb fluoro and my drag locked down and just set the hook and never look back, drag them all the way in
  3. Also, is the max 703cb rod a good overall rod for squarebills and some mid divers?
  4. Bringing back an old thread, does anyone have a endurance 712 or 6101 spinning rod? Thinking about one for shakey head, wacky rig, little single tail grubs, its between the 6101 or 712, does anyone know if the 6101 have a decent amount of backbone or not? Thanks.
  5. Thats what im saying!! I have same setup as you do right now but i defently want to pick up that new yellow!
  6. Im going to try the new sunlone sx1 finesse stuff thats yellow and was just introduced at ICAST. Its 10lb and 16lb and made specificaly for finesse on spinning outfits. Bright yellow for easy line movement detection but still invisible to fish. I think its gonna be some good stuff. TW is now carrying it
  7. if you try the *** for cranks, let me know ho it goes, i wanna get one for cranks, but not sure it tip will be soft enough..
  8. *** 7'1 Medium. ive done pretty much everything you want to do with this rod.
  9. feel fine to me, try holding it in the other hand?
  10. ya if you do that, let me know! and mostly squarebills, and mid divers, say down to like 14 feet
  11. does anyone have a M action *** casting rod? im wondering how they are with crankbaits. if anyone has some info on this, i would appreciate it, thanks!
  12. if you can save a little bit more money, go on ebay and pick up a lews speed spool. you can find them for around $65-75. that is a MUCH better reel that a silver max or black max
  13. Ya you will want a high gear ratio reel, and a longer rod will help. My carolina rig rod is a 7'4 H dobyns champion extreme. Model 745.and i have it paired with a 7.3:1 pinnacle optimus with 17lb fluoro. Ive experienced with many different setups for c-rig and this is the best setup by far. Light, sensitive, and TONS of power in that 745 for monster hooksets in deep water.
  14. Im Not sure about everyone else, but i dont know many people who have there hand near the trigger when casting, i have one hand on the upper split grip, and the other on the bottom split grip. If that makes sense.. try that and see how it feels?
  15. ya you can do pretty much anything with it, i like it for smallmouth in rocks, drop it next to some big boulders and wait for a smallie to slam it
  16. anyone know the price on it?
  17. Dobyns Champion 702 spinning rod. no questions asked
  18. its an really good rod for the price. i would recommend!
  19. when the say let it fall on a slack line, its so that your bait falls straight down. say you cast right next to a stump, with slack line you bait will fall straight down because there is no tension on the line, but if you have you bail closed and there is tension on your line, the deeper the bait falls, the closer to you it will get because there is not enough slack in the line for it to fall straight down. its good to have the slack line that way the bait stays right where you casted, in "the strike zone"
  20. i like to use the power team lures 3.5'' craw dourve on a shakey head, works wonders on smallmouth here in wa state, i just skin hook it, wait for the bite and lay into them. i really like to fish it around rocks, because it stands up soo much better than a t-rig.
  21. depends how much money you want to spend, of course a Gloomis NRX is the finest of the finest, but i really like the dobyns Champion 702sf. medium priced but an awesome awesome rod. the tip on it pretty much allows you to do whatever you want with the bait while still keeping the weight on the bottom without moving
  22. http://www.thefishranger.com/Powell_Diesel_Spinning_Rods_p/powell-diesel-spinning-rods.htm
  23. its on sale at "the fish ranger. com" or TW go to there Facebook page for the lin to get 15% off. and you can fit that rod in your car no prob. i fit a 7'6" powell diesel casting rod in my car, just be careful when taking it in and out. i set the butt on the passenger side floor and let the tip point towards the back, works perfect.
