  1. I have great success flipping both baits. Deciding factor tends to be profile. If the fish are more aggressive and will hit a bigger profile with more action ill give them the biffle. If they're being finicky or the cover is real thick Ill go with the rage. Since everyone is talking about swingjigs....Pretty hard to beat the hard head + a rage tail space monkey IMO.
  2. i try to do the same but I usually end up leaving it on because i can never resist sending pictures of the fish I'm catching to my friends who are stuck at work ....I'm a nice guy like that.
  3. i have the 764 for flipping, its a great rod. i got mine off of thefishranger for about $140
  4. Rage Craw and Space monkey work great with this presentation. If im using a rage lobster and need added casting distance ill use the same Owner Beast swimbait hooks i use for keitech swing impacts. other than that i use the more compact VMC drop dead hooks. I would link the specific hooks but I cant for some reason. they are easy enough to find on TW
  5. The carbonlites have always been a great rod at that price point, the new ones are extremely lightweight and have the new line ID system built in which is useful if you have numerous rods to keep track of. Personally I'd rather spend the extra $40 and get a signature series with a way better guide train. A little heavier but overall better build quality.
  6. This^^ You can find $200 rods for $100-120 all the time if you want to put in the effort to find them and have patience. I got my Gen 1 cumara for $100 when the new models came out, Got a Powell Endurance series for around $140 when they're normally closer to $200. Just got a new Okuma swim bait rod on amazon a couple days ago for $95 when they're normally $140. I saw a brand new GLoomis GL2 sell for $107 on ebay when they are normally 200+ (was kinda ticked when i missed that one) I have never paid full price for a rod and I don't buy used ones either. you just have to keep an eye on Ebay & Amazon, also the sale sections of sites like Tackle Warehouse, Tackle Direct...etc. you can find some killer deals.
  7. Depending on the size of your bait the line can vary, some guys only use 20 or 25lb mono or Copolymer for bigger 5+oz baits. For the 2.5oz to 5oz range like smaller hudds 15-20 lb test will work fine, 17lb is pretty good all around. You could create a whole thread and ask everyone there favorite swimbait line and 20 guys will give you 20 different answers. I suggest checking out maxima mono or p-line cxx.
  8. Glad I decided to read this thread today, I was about to buy the 7'11"XH Guide select off of TW for full price to match up with a Cardiff 400A. Thanks to you guys i just got it for $95 instead of $135 Edit: and it wasn't a used model, the 7'11" started at $105 new, and for some reason amazon took another $10 off at checkout for some kind of okuma special.
  9. Just sent 3 reels to mike yesterday, I was driving the lady at the post office nuts. If you had seen the operation I had going you would of thought I was packaging a Faberge egg
  10. I got my gen1 cumara for $100 when they got discontinued for the new red models. If i had known how good of a rod it was at the time I would have bought 6 of them.
  11. Seaguar Abrazx and Bass Pro XPS (the xps in the yellow/purple box, not the old crap in white boxes)
  12. I've got a Powell endurance 764 and I was really leaning towards the Type R. I think I'll have to pull the trigger on that one!
  13. lol, I had this image of him having wings skimming the waters surface snatching up fish like an eagle.
  14. x2 to the whole post but highlighted items especially. I catch a ton of fish on Rage tail products no matter what body of water i'm on...river, pond, lake, or swamp..clear water or dirty, they just flat out catch fish. I'd say 80% of the time i catch fish on a rage craw It's being fished in a presentation that doesn't even mimic a crayfish. I fish them quite often on a keel weighted VMC drop dead hook, or the rage lobster and space monkeys on a 4/0 1/4oz owner beast swim-bait hook. I've never seen craws swim through the middle of the water column or bubble across the surface but the fish still hammer them. I'll use the lobster on a trokar tk130 with a 1/2oz tungsten weight and punch through light vegetation, It really is a versatile bait.
  15. lol that price does not include a stella.
  16. ^^ what he said, I wonder if the dicks near me is running a similar deal.
  17. same here, i ended up with a 6'8" MHXfast because it was all that was left, I'd like to expand but just cant swing the $200 right now. i probably shouldn't be rod shopping when i have rods still in the mail that haven't even gotten to me yet
  18. meh, still charging $200+ for the last gen. maybe i'm just spoiled since i got mine for $99 on TW right before the new gen came out.
  19. as of right now i believe if it is a lead jig you can use it as long as it is 1 inch or greater along its axis, lead sinkers have to be 1 oz or heavier. as for how long these rules will last, couldn't tell you, the loon nuts are hot on our tails http://www.eregulations.com/newhampshire/fishing/freshwater/get-the-lead-out/
  20. Got out for a few hours today before i had to go get my silly windshield replaced. nothing over 4lbs, had what looked like a decent 5lber dart out from under a little mat and go for my jig as i was reeling it in, happened so fast and close to the boat actually made me jump a little lol. In other news i just ordered a Powell Endurance 764 after reading so much positive feedback about them, excited to give it a try.
  21. Just doing some organizing on a couple of soft plastics
  22. Call your local basspro and ask to be transferred to the reel counter and tell the guys what is going on. If you have a receipt showing they are less than a year old they will swap them for new reels on the spot since they are bass pro brand. If you lost your receipt they can pull it up in the system if you have a rewards card or used a credit card to make the purchase (if the store you are going to is the physical location you purchased them, stores cant access receipts from other locations) You should have no problem getting them taken care off, and like DVT said, don't let it turn you away from the PQ's, I own some and you can't beat it for the price.
  23. Don't laugh at my horrible skills when it comes to fish selfies. but got into this nice 'lil 5lb 6oz'er after waiting out the thunderstorm in my truck yesterday. Glad i decided to wait after getting chased off of the water by a wall of a downpour in my little canoe.
