i like to go weightless when the bottom has a lot of weeds or if the fish are hitting stuff on the top of the water column

i dont get upset when i get skunked because im not out to go catching im out for fishing...fishing is a whole experience you can go catch some fish with bread and a hook...i like to try new spots and different areas, different types and styles of fishing, i like to learn why the fish are where they are at that time etc etc and when i do get skunked it makes me feel like the fish was smarter than me that day like the fish won the battle but there is still the war haha...then again i like to learn i have to know everything about everything

also use your imagination just because some people do the normal thing that everyone else does that doesnt mean you cant find something new that works

wonder if bending the tip in a little would sold this problem for these types of baits without the hook being useless or like a circle hook cause you know how a circle hooks tip is bent toward the shaft...what if you bent less of the tip just so it points down a little into the bait...might try this and see how it goes

i have found that erratic movement signals injured fish more than a little blood...also why not gold hooks? we use gold spoons for catching redfish and trout and snook and they look like shining scales

i would rather have the hook match the bait so it blends in...that and after so many feet red disappears in the spectrum anyway(turns grey or so)

i like owner hooks...they are strong sharp and cost half the price for the same quality...i rarely miss fish and i hardly set up on any of them and when i do set up its very small lol and surely have never had to sharpen one with that said i have never bent an owner hook either although 1 time i did break one in half lol

i think you have already found your answer to where the fish are...where did you catch them when you were moving to a new spot? go to those spots and check your electronics and see what is there...is it rocky? how deep is it? water temp? etc etc then you can see where the fish are going at that point in the day..was it hot? cold? overcast?

ive seen a few in my area and i mean a few 2-3 but thats it and im a little south of palm beach gardens

no stickers on my truck except the rod building logo but that doesnt make money...that and i dont really like putting stickers all over my truck i like a clean look not a laundry list of stuff that i use lol also hats, shirts, stickers etc all give brand recognition...the more people who always see your brand are more likely to check into it all that said i dont have a problem telling people what i like and use and telling them its a good quality product that is worth it to buy either

you should try out a spiral wrapped rod it reduces the torque nicely so thats what all my rods with conv. reels are getting now but honestly spinning a lot more comfortable for me too...you can throw anything on it from light to very heavy without a problem. for everyone else i like spinning unless im using heavily weighted baits(cut bait with 8oz+ of lead) then i like conventional reels only because when my hands get wet for a while and it loosens the skin casting heavy stuff on a spinning rod with braid cuts my fingers up lol

you can also use a float to call in fish you can put beeds above or below it and give it a jerk every so often or what i like to do when i live bait fish is use one of those floats that have a cupped top and jerk it once in a while(not hard enough to rip your bait off) but it makes a sound like a popper and mimics feeding fish...then when the fish come to check it out there is your bait waiting for them

slug-o is one of my favorite snook baits too

i use toothpaste first then since i dont like to go around with tooth paste smelling hands i use a lemon...also gets rid of the nasty ballyhoo smell and squid smells too lol

better to not smoke anyway...the smell gets all over your hands and everything else and to non smokers we can smell it even from a mile away lol...and ive never seen a fish smoking before so

this is absolutely true...we flip 15+lb snook onto a dock thats 8ft above the water line and have never had a rod snap we point the rod straight down and swing it so the rod is never bent very close to 90 degrees and never passed 90 degrees also ugly sticks are fiberglass and ive found fiberglass while its not as sensitive and heavier is a lot stronger than graphite...which is probably why you can bend an ugly stick into a circle without it breaking lol

you can but you are better to actually learn how to cast with your thumb just do it the way you are doing now and then when you feel comfortable loosen it a little and cast more till you feel comfortable again then loosen more....youll get there eventually and youll have the comfort there also

try this find some shady spots and put on a floating crank bait...i like the kvd cranks in 1.5 (not sure the color but has a green back) but really any shad or bluegill color will work...now cast to or passed the shade and let it sit a sec then jerk it and let it float back to the top of the water and let it sit for maybe a 2 count then repeat all the way in this should work in most places...you can do this with any floating crank bait style bait but ive found the kvd cranks to work the best(they give a lot of action for not a lot of jerk)

there is a small lake maybe 40ft long by 20ft wide where i used to work and they stocked it with some grass carps...about 5 of them and the carp lived fine and couldnt eat all the vegetation in that small of a lake also to note im in south florida where its hot always so the veg grows fast and we also had a 2hp pump pumping water from the canal 24/7 to keep the lake full lol...but there are a decent collection of bass in it without stocking it and the carp have plenty to eat...just the hawks come crashing in and steal some of the bass lol edit: sorry the carp were in the 10-20lb range

lol i have a friend who did this...he would eat cans of tuna all day everydayyyyy he would go to the store and buy a months supply....lol the people at the store would look at him weird buying cart fulls of tuna cans and water..he would also get super ticked if anyone at any of it lol but he got ripped doing this for about 6-8 months straight not sure how healthy it is to just eat cans of tuna and not much else all day everyday though
