Punchin Weight Choice
I want to punch some hydrilla thats pretty thick and its also mixed with our favorite pond slime in place jus mats of it all over. What weight do you think would be minimum for that kind of heavy cover? Ive got a 3/4 and 1oz weight but if I want to use skirts on them would i need like 1.25 or 1.5?

Show off your Stuff
Just wanted to show my newest gear, this is gear that I have upgraded too! Finally was able to buy some really good gear that ill be able to use for a long time, with proper technique and care of course! From top to bottom: Dobyns Champion 734c w/ Pinnacle Optimus XiHS 7.3:1 Suffix 832 40#- I use this for just about anything from square bills, worming, and some frogging, buzzbait chatter bait, big worms on lighter trigs or even weightless big worms 7'1 Duckett White Ice Heavy Byron Velvick Model w/ Lews Tournament Pro 6.4:1 PP 50#- I actually use this for Flippin n Pitchin and some Punchin, I fish in Florida from the bank so a shorter rod helps me actually to flip and pitch my heavy stuff. Also for heavier worming trigs and crigs. 7'1 MF St. Croix LTB Pflueger Patriarch 7.9:1 Invisx 12# Floro- This is a super versatile rod I can do light reaction baits, spinnerbaits squarebills and my main purpose is finesse and lightweight worming! I love these rods and reels and as you can see im not picky or loyal to a brand whatever I can get thats quality is alright with me!

Lew's Tournament Pro Guys
Thanks guys i apppreciate it! I can wait to rig it up! Ive been doin alot more froggin lately so it maybe become my frog reel unless i jus think i need a faster ratio after fishin it. We will definetly find out!

Lew's Tournament Pro Guys
I just bought one in 6.4:1 ratio. I know in the end its use preference, but I wanna ask what are YOU guys usin it for? is it versatile enough for all techniques? better for one than the other? flippin/pitchin heavy weights? bombing cranks and jerkbaits? or even versatile enough for finesse fishing? Light to even weightless worms? Froggin? The possiblities are endless, so Im looking forward to hearing some personal experience from you guys!

Froggin Advice
Went froggin today, grass and slime mats for miles. They were eatin it up, at one point they hit 2 outah 3 casts BUT I could hook a single one!!! Literally I had like 15 fish hit this thing and not a single hook up. Yes I waited that extra second before setting. I had the retrieve down pat they were lovin it but for some reason I could not hook up. Any advice? I had to remind myself to wait that extra second sometimes but even when I did do that they still wouldnt hook up. I even switched to a pad crasher jr, thinkging the larger pad crasher might have been too big for maybe a small bass that was hitting it. When i did that the bites died haha Maybe I wasnt settting the hook hard enough? Usually im just flippin and pitching lil craw type baits around light cover and finesse worming, I imagine the hook setting should be different for these two techniques. Should I use any type of motion while setting the hook? Straight up? Up yet to the side a little, or maybe a swing to the side? Though I didnt catch any it was pretty awesome to see those fish go after it like that one came outah the water and rolled on it like a whale! haha And I also got a brand new Lew's Tourney Pro for 130 AND my replacement rod for my broken St Croix LTB will be shipping out tomorrow, I found out. So all in all not a bad day!

Lets Talk Tackle

Lets Talk Tackle
any reccomendations on colors?
-
Lets Talk Tackle
yes i have used top water, what i was reffering to was the fact that i could see fish hit stuff on the top of the water AROUND my lure, so i knew that using top water would be a good choice but still no bites, even though they were clearly feeding on top water bugs and what not already also on the crankbait it might have been color because i dont think i could have gone any smaller, if i did i would have to use a spinning rod to be able to cast it as the crank i was using was already smaller than a kvd 1.5

Senko Strikes Again

Lets Talk Tackle

Lets Talk Tackle
I caught my first bass on a crank bait the other day. It wasnt as "spectacular" as I imagined using this reaction bait would be. Ive had harder hits on my soft plastics lol Dont get me wrong it was cool to FINALLY catch something on a crankbait, I have a question though. As I fish from the bank, I cast out and like to crank it up the points and the up the structure thats under the water. Maybe catch the stuff hangin close to cover and/or the structures. I only caught one on the crankbait BUT i noticed that a few times some nice size bass were chasin it all the way up the bank til like they were only in a foot of water or less but never actually went for it. Now this was cool to watch but id rather be catching them. My question is how come they would follow it so aggressively just to not go for it? I tried all kinds of retrieves, slow, fast, near the top, all the way to the bottom in the middle, stop and go, jerk retrieve also and only got the one lol Also just so i dont have to start a new thread, I REALLY want to catch something on top water but Ive not had any luck EVER lol Frogs on top of lily pads that I can visibly see fish striking top water under the pads but nothing, hula popper on a cloudy slightly breezey day which ive heard is great for top water baits lol and its summer another time people use frogs and top water, but nothing lol So, lets talk tackle haha
