So I went cranking today and the bass were active, I saw them swimming all over the pond I was fishing. It was greenish/clear water seeing about 3 ft down, I could see the bass swimming away from the crank like they were scared, not just slowly swimming but jolting away. I reeled fast, I reeled slow, deep shallow in the middle and nothing lol any ideas?

Makes sense! It is a very versatile rod, I found mine on CL for a pretty good deal for a combo lol

Out of curioustity, what do you mean "too soft" for Texas rigs? I also am mainly a bank fisherman, i love it but would love to be able to go out on a boat if i had one or a friend that had one lol

I dont think you could ever go wrong casting some wacky rigs at the pads then just pullin it off and lettin it sink down from there! frogs of course

7' MF St Croix LTB great rod!

I broke down and bought a 7' MH powell diesel glass rod, got it for 58 bucks with 2 day air shipping so figured that was about the best price i was gonna find on a glass rod anywhere lol

it is the teaser model and yeah i was thinking it would do the job fine, most of my cranks only go about 6-10 and then alot of them only go to 0-4 depending on how they are fished

what about powell diesel crank rod? any good?

Listen I know that there are alot of posts about which rod to get for crankin, BUT my question is, is it necessary to have one in my setup? Ive got three combos. 7' MF LTB 7'3 MF *** 7"3 MH Duckett Ghost If im wanting to do just some shallow to maybe medium cranking do I need to invest in a crank rod, or will one of those rods handle it?

i didnt see any moderate action ones in the bps i already have a duckett ghost rod in MH but i believe fast action and someone said it might not be good' i kinda feel its personal preference

which action and power would be best if i were to get a bps crankin stick, im also in the market and these seem to be the winner lol MH F, MH XF, MF, MXF?

Ive mostly fished soft plastics with the occasional reaction bait. Im looking to get a couple all purpose, good to start with crankbaits to add to my tackle. Anyone got some recommendations. My heaviest rod is a 7'3 MH Duckett ghost so it needs to be atleats 1/4 but would prefer not to be throwing a brick either. Im not really sure whats all out there so let me know what you guys enjoy using. Also, since im just getting into them, I would like to hold off on spending 10 dollars per lure lol but i know there are good ones out there. Brands? Colors? Weights? So shoot some ideas my way! yeah i got the mg for 100 brand new in box spooled with red label label so i think i got a decent deal its a solid reel for sure

ive recently purchased three new combos over the past month, i wanted to upgrade my setup so i did, now i have a st croix LTB with a fflueger summit, a duckett ghost with a shimano caenan, and a *** black with a tournament mg, plus i just bought a bunch of cranks and other hard baits lol and a random bps johnny morris signature reel that i bought and now has no rod to go on since i bought the lews tournament mg haha

no the quantum energy for 180 still sounds like he got ripped lol

thanks guys i went with the Lews reel and might i say, right choice. I paired it with my 7'3 MF *** and not only does it look awesome (black on black) but the low profile feels amazing with the rod, I use it for lightweight softplastics, It came spooled with some red label floro so i was able to fish with floro for the first time and its pretty good. It did feel a little stiffer and therefore a little more sensitive IMO anyway lol overall it is probably my fave combo I have right now

Its an old model the e760 so its actually the 9.5oz model so i may go for the lews

Ive got an opporunity to possibly buy either one. The Lews is 100 The Quantum is 135 Which is the better deal as far as quality? Which one would be lighter, im looking for a light reel
