  1. hah true that man the handle on the duckett for me atleast is nice, its 15 and 3/4 inches probably feels longer cus im used to the LTB being quite short compared to it
  2. the duckett rod def is long enough for that!
  3. thats awesome, I bought the duckett rod to be my froggin jig rod, but i know the LTB is versatile enough that I can use it for almost anything haha its a great rod!
  4. my first outfit was an abu garcia 6'6 medium cardinal or ambassadeur, (cant recall at the moment haha), spinning rod with a pflueger trion spinning reel got my first 3 bass on that thing one was a 2 lber, I actually used it for everything from worms, top poppers, and even a small spinner bait that i caught my first bass on, it was quite the experience! after that i was hooked haha
  5. sweet thanks for the info! I havent caught any fish with my new rods i just got them over the weekend and didnt have to to really fish the duckett only got bites on my St Croix lol
  6. sounds like good info ive got a st croix legend tournament 7' medium/fast that has a shorter handle im not sure of the length exactly its not the newest model but no the oldest either lol and i also have a duckett ghost 7'3 medium heavy with a 15" handle i figured the 7'3 would be my pitchin flipping rod? do i have the right idea?
  7. Simply, does handle length matter for flippin and pitching? Too long vs too short? Or is it all in what you become comfortable with in your own fishing skills?
  8. So I recently was out looking to upgrade my baitcast combo and a local guy had a 7' MF St Croix Legend Teaser Tournament w/ a Pflueger Summit reel. I got it for 200. I feel like i got a pretty great deal here and a heck of a rod/reel Im stoked to test it out, im under the weather so I havent even really tried it out yet haha
  9. I purchased the rod and reel and it looks good its a used rod but in great shape jus some small scuffs closer to the main backbone section the reel is the same just some scuffs on the bottom. I got the set for 200 bucks, im thinking it was a decent deal! Any comments on it?
  10. thanks im going to pick it up today! most of what i fish is soft plastics with the occasional action bait spinner frog or top water popper i think this will do very nicely! ive got a shimano caenan reel that i can put on this rod also if the pflueger doesnt seem to fit the needs hah
  11. thanks for the input thats kind of been the same review over the net i just wanted some personal experience info ya know sounds like i may be getting this one for sure!
  12. Im looking at this rig to possibly purchase. Can anyone give me some input on this setup or the reel/rod individually? its a 7' medium action
  13. idk if he can or not but if its that old would it be worth purchasing? lol and since theres been mention of FLW he also said he had a FLW pearl platinum rod? any info on that one?
  14. Anyone heard of these? Did he once endorse berkley for their rods? Most research turns up dobyns rods? The reason im asking is a local guy says hes got one for sale, and before i drive to look at it I was wanting to know if anyone has any info on them? Thanks in advanced!
  15. Im looking to upgrade to a new rod for my baitcaster, currently I have a Shimano Caenan (awesome reel) on an academy special Think Red/See Blue Rod someone suggested it for a nice starting out rod and its been great! So I'm just looking to upgrade now something in the 100 dollar range. Ive looked at the veritas and mojo bass but are there any others out there im over looking? 90% of the time im fishing soft plastics every now and then Ill crank or use a frog so id like a rod that can do both without having to switch setups haha Any info would be great thanks!

This honestly is no "fish tale" lol, so I had to get new line for my baitcaster, 50lbs Suffix performance braid, by the time i got home to spool it up it was already getting dark but i still wanted to atelast feel how it cast ya know. I walk outside cast a couple times, one cast ended up in a tree and as the bait came out of the tree (luckily it didnt snag) in all honesty this huge owl comes swoopin down and tries to grab my bait right out of the air!! It was awesome too see!! I could literally see its feet extend out and open to grab it haha Anyone else had anything like this happen before?
  18. thanks i apprciate it, i actuaully went out and bought a 7" medium CCA rod for my soft plastics, from academy, just one of their exclusive ones, ive heard decent stuff about it being cheaper and all, but its okay for me cus im jus now getting to be a novice baitcaster hahaha i also wound up having to put different line on the caenan, i went with 50lbs braid cus i had really good luck with braid on my spinning rod lol

my newest endeavor, i put the shimano caenan on a 7' medium CCA rod, one of the ones you can get at academy, i heard decent things for a cheaper rod, and the pinnacle platinum plus is now on the berkley lightning rod, one for soft plastics and one for reaction baits!
  20. My shimano caenan 100 baitcaster has 50lbs braid on it, would that be too much for a Medium action rod, say if its only rated for 8-14 pound line? Ive heard of people saying it could "overpower" the rod, resulting in easier breakage of the rod, if thats true then i can just get new line if it comes down too it. haha any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  21. Sorry I meant to say the reason im posting this is because im not sure why its doin that, is my line to heavy, rod too long, bait too light? haha
  22. Ok so ive got a 7' MH Lightning Shock rod, with a Shimano Caenan 100, spooled with 15lbs Seagaur senshi line, I used a baby brush hog with 2 soft lead clamp weights, a trick worm weightless, and a zoom horny toad, when ever I cast and it sinks and I twitch it or jig it, the line seems to be so slack between my rod and my bait that between the biggest eye and the reel actually slacks down and touched the rod, basically it seems like I can never have enough tension to properly twitch a bait on the bottom. Hopefully you can see the picture of whats happening, its when the bait hits the bottom and the line goes totally slack its like SUPER SLACK, it seems to sag a lot

Im kinda new to the forum, my names mikell and ive been hooked haha I recently got into bass fishing and i love it! I probably use softplastics alot more than action type lures, but ive gotten equal results with both! My new set up is a Shimano Caenan100 on a 7' MH Berkley Lightning Rod, I also use a Pflueger Trion Spinning reel on an Abu Garcia Tournament 6"6 Cardinal Rod! Recently ventured into the land of baitcasting and thats my Shimano i picked up, awesome deal, brand new in package for only 50 bucks, and I put some 15lb seaguar senshi line on it so we will see how that works out! And my smallest set up is a Pinnacle Platinum Plus on a 6" M Abu Garcia Cardinal Tournament rod, currently running 20lb trilene XL I believe, the line was on it when i bought it haha But thats just a little about me! Im open to any advice on good fishing line mono flouro and braid that can be used in the baitcaster!
  24. I'm looking to get into baitcasting, right now im just using my pfleuger trion on a 6'6 abu cardinal it gets the job done. But im wanting to get something a lil more robust for cranking and spinnerbaits, im looking for a rod in the 6'6 7' range MH and probably would prefer something closer to 6'6, ive already got a couple reels im looking into, so i just needed some advice on a rod. I would like to stay under 50 dollars seeing how if i dont master or have the patients for baitcaster i dont want to just be throwin money away ya know lol If you have some ideas thanks i really appreciate it!
  25. Yes i know some think that shakespeare doesnt come close to okuma but these are actually really simliar and have pretty good reviews, what im looking for is some advice from first hand experiences that some of you may have had? Thanks -Mike
