  1. My mom lives in Palm Coast and I'm heading down there for a week at Christmas and I was hoping to do some bass fishing while I'm down there. My mom has a fresh water canal right out back that they catch some nice ones out of, but I'm willing to take a ride if better fishing is to be had. So if you guys wouldn't mind helping me out a little it would be highly appreciated. I'm only trying to take a couple rods and one tackle bag, probably my swimbait setup, my cranking setup and my topwater/jerkbait setup. So with your experience whats would be the best baits to have along and is there anywhere in the relative area that I should give a try. Normally I would just go to the local tackle shop and buy some shrimp and head to the intercoastal and catch a ton of different stuff, pretty much because this is what my moms husband does. It's enjoyable but I'd love to try and catch one of them slobs you guys have swimming around down there. Thanks in advance for any help or opinions...
  2. To be honest I throw a buzzbait with my spinnerbait rod which is braid but I wouldn't want white for spinnerbaits. As far as my top water rod I use that for poppers walk the dog type baits and it doubles as a jerkbait rod, but I use CXX on that one. I wouldn't want braid because it's too limp and the lure will run over the line while your working it which will be a royal PITA when it gets wrapped around a couple sets of trebels. All though I do agree it would be a lot less visible then the dark color.
  3. Caught my PB walleye on a 1/2oz chartreuse spinnerbait bass fishing in the weeds
  4. Yes BPS has trailers, I have a 1542 that came on a load rite trailer that came from there. If your fishing two guys out of it I'd really consider a 15 footer, you'll find a 12 will be really tight with two guys.
  5. I just picked up one of the new ones, I actually went to BPS with my mind set on the avidx 6'8 MXF casting and I ended up leaving with the Mojo of the same specs. Besides to obvious with the guides and reel seat, I could t feel a difference at all. It feel nice light and well balanced with a 100 size reel. I can't wait to use it tomorrow morning...
  6. The only thing I would've done different is went with a med/lite rod for the extra sensitivity. But all in all a great setup
  7. I just picked up a Daiwa Lexa 300 for my swim bait rod and it has the power handle on it. My question is can I just remove the knob and weight on the handle, and put regular knobs on the handle. Or do I need to buy a whole new handle with knobs? Thanks in advance for the help.
  8. I hunt with a parker, they're nice bows. I havent shot the one in question though, I will also say that their customer service is great. One question for you, have you ever figured what eye is your dominant eye? The reason I ask this is because if your right eye dominant you should think about shooting righty instead of lefty. My brother and my son are both left handed but are right eye dominant and they both shoot extremely better shooting right handed. When my son joined the Marines he was shooting expert in boot camp shooting righty, his instructor couldn't believe how well he shot out of the gate.

  10. Shirt, belt, pants leg, anchor rope, sock. There's a ton of stuff in a boat that could make an improvised tourniquet.
  11. I carry a roll of paper towels and a roll of electrical tape, or in other words a carpenters band aid
  12. What it really needs is Harris bipod....
  13. From what I gather a lot of fish that are caught on trout baits are caught in areas were there isn't even any trout in the first place. Since a bass is an ambush predator I dont believe they even care what type of fish it is, if its an easy meal they'll try and eat it. To be honest half of the stuff I see bass caught on dont even look like anything they've seen before, or that lives in the body of water from where they were caught from. Oh awesome fish by the way!!!!!
  14. IMHO they ruined that bike in a big way, they took a bike that will out handle most jap bikes and threw that big ole tire on there. Ill agree it looks cool but If im buying that type of bike its not going to be for the cool factor. Thats why I own a Harley!!!!! If I'm getting a bike like this I want it to be nimble and super fast it will still be fast but it will turn and handle like crap. Not something I want one of the baddest bikes out there, again just my .02...
  15. The stripers we have here are not related to white perch, they are a strain right out of the chesapeake. The ones we catch here in the reservoirs go in excess of 40 lbs. With more then a few guys believing there are some in there 50 to 60 lbs. also they're not all that common, we have two reservoirs that have a breeding population of stripers one is piney run and the other is Liberty reservoir although they stock them in Rocky Gorge and Tridelphia reservoirs I believe. Here is a pic of the ones we catch, by the way this is not me nor is this my fish I just wanted to show the size of what we catch.

  17. St Croix Avid all the way. if you need a reason check out bluebassers post about their customer service...
  18. It wasn't long ago that the alconite insert fell out of the tip top of my Avid cranking rod, I called St Croix and told them what happened. The told me to send the rod back and they'll fix It no problem, I then asked if they could just send the tiptop to me and I would replace it. I wanted to do it like this so I wouldn't be without my rod for a few weeks, well not only did they send me a new tiptop. They sent me four tiptops enough glue for probably 10 tiptops and they shipped it two day so I could have it fixed by the weekend. I'm definitely a St Croix fan for sure, so much so I just went and picked up a new ultralight rod this past weekend and it was a StCroix Premier.
  19. Its happening right now where I fish, yesterday was my worst outing all year.
  20. I still use an old 16ga single shot shotgun to hunt with a few times every year. It was giving to me by a lifelong friends grandfather, so every year I hunt with it just so pop Hagner can still hunt. Even though hes not with us in the physical form anymore. I also have a friend that to this day uses an old shotgun with a smooth bore and a bead sight, hell he only wears jeans and a plaid jacket and he kills monster deer every year. Its great to see him roll up the daily lunch spot with a hammer buck in his truck while looking like a hillbilly while all the other guys have every thing known to man to hunt with but are at the lunch spot with not even a deer sighting.
  21. I fish them anywhere, at least the ones that dont dive so deep as I can get them if they get snagged. The Gantrel for example only dives 3' so if it does get snagged it pretty easy to get back with a telescoping lure retriever.
