  1. That"s awesome thanks. I knew that they would all be around the same weight. I'm glad that we all agree on something.
  2. I don't mean to be rude, but I have a hard time believing that a 6" senko is only 1/16. I haven't thrown the magnum ol' monster but I do have some 12" power worms, and I'm almost afraid that I'm overloading my rod with those. Same about the 5" chigger craws.
  3. I know that they're all a different weight, but I think that they're all around the same weight. I mainly use the NetBait C-Mac worms, but ol' monsters and power worms are in the mix as well. Any way, I usually fish them with a 3/16 ounce bullet weight and I noticed that they load my rod really well. I was just wondering how much do these worms actually weigh?
  4. I use swivels so that I don't have to hear the knot passing through the guides.
  5. How much? For $60 I love the H2O Ethos rods and the Abu vengeance rods but for a little more I like the All Star Team rods. I've only felt the Bass Pro extreme rod, but it feels like a very nice rod. For a $100 I've heard great things about the *** *** rods, but I've also been surprised by the All Star Nano and Micro rods that I've used. I think that All Star has really become an overlooked brand. I would stay away from Carrot Stix because of how brittle the blank is (and how crappy the warranty is). The Veritas is a great rod but I've had a lot of friends break them as well.
  6. As long as reels aren't on their last leg, I would get a nicer rod. All the reel does is hold line, but you're rod is working the bait and letting you feel what the fish is doing.
  7. I'm sorry to bring this back but I have two more question. Do these have better quality bearings than the mettles? Are they heavy enough to balance out with an ***?
  8. I love my Ethos rods, but I've been wondering how the micro guide versions are. Mainly are they any different besides for the guide type and handle material? Is the blank any more sensitive?
  9. I wanted to make it smell better, not awful.
  10. I fished for 12 days straight from 6AM - 9PM (minus 2 hours for lunch and a nap) in 85° heat tn vacation this year since the condo has a pier built on to it. The rod I used 90% of the time had cork handles. I don't know if it was the sweat, slime,or fish guts that did it but that rod smells AWFUL now. Anyone know how to get rid of this?
  11. Now I have a question. If bass in a highly pressured lake will stop hitting a certain lure that they've grown accustomed to why don't they just stop eating the prey that the lure mimics?
  12. P-Line Fluoroclear. I don't really like fluorocarbon but if line visibility is an issue fluoroclear is my go to. For a 100% I like red label though, because it sucks the least for a cheap fluoro.
  13. Shoot, my 36 year old DAD turns a spinning reel upside down. Tell me how you get your kid away from push button reels and I'll try to use it on him.
  14. LMB ANGLER Are you that Largemouth Angler guy who got all pissy after everybody bashed his STUPID arguments? The one who led on about how the next world record bass will come from Florida? The one that made up words to call Rockchalk?
  15. How accurate do you feel that these really are? I was at Academy today looking for my first quality contact bait rod when I stumbled across the All Star Micro Jig/Worm rod. In my hand it felt really good and I wanted to get it for jigs and worms, but when I looked at the rod specs it's rated for 1/2-1 ounce lures. I'm a guy that likes fishing 1/4 jigs in 10ft of water, and I need a rod that's able to pitch these where I need it but also throw a 7in worm with a 3/16oz bullet weight across the lake. I know that rod ratings aren't exactly accurate, but I don't know if this rod would be able to load up. I have a 6'6 medium that I throw anything with an eighth ounce weight on, but will this rod handle anything around a quarter?
  16. I like Columbia, for 3 reasons. 1-cheap for the quality that it is 2-fits well and a lot of the stuff looks nice (nobody wants to look tacky) 3-the T-shirts have cool pictures on the back (doesn't effect you're performance on the water, but still important)
  17. Be sure to tell us how it is once it gets more time on the water.
  18. Looks like a yellow perch with freckles.
  19. I know if you dunk a reel in saltwater (wade fishing) you want to soak it in freshwater and clean it as soon as possible, salt and acid are both corrosive, so I would try that.
  20. Just about every time someone breaks a rod is because of user error, and we actually all damage tackle even though we try not to. A lot of times you're just going to damage your tackle, no matter how hard you try not to. In the fishing world "durability" just goes for how much user damage something can hold up to, some rods like ugly stiks can hold up to anything while others (not naming names like carrot stix...whoops) can't be looked at too hard. I use to hate Shimano but Abu is slowly steering me away. I still can't stand Daiwa reels though.
  21. I fish a 6'6'' spinning rod from the shore with out a problem with trees. If you can go up $10 more I would go with a Shimano Sedona and a Falcon Bucoo, if not the Shimano Sonora is pretty good but I would opt for the Sedona.
  22. Good luck. Be sure to tell us how it performs, I was interested in getting on but I ended up getting (another) mettle. War Eagle's right about the pros being paid to use them, and I'll prove it. Look at Ike' s Facebook page, and if you look closely at some of his "fun" fishing pics, the reels in the background are Steez' s. Also, do you really think Skeet likes Wright and McGill more than Abu. No, he likes the paycheck from Wright and McGill more than the one from Abu. I think that a company has to be to have a product that is quality, because they're relying on it to win tournaments, but again it mainly depends on a paycheck. If pros were able to be sponsored by anyone that they wanted, we would be seeing a lot more Abu and Shimano jerseys. You are right though with the advancement of technology it has allowed many reel brands to step up their game.
  23. I only tried the electrical tape because I was out of o rings. I was actually just offering this as an alternative or a backup method. I'll have to try this.
