  1. I started doing this when I got tired of loosing senkos and it seems to be working. Basically all I'm doing is tightly wrapping a strip of electrical tape around the center and hooking it through that. It's hard to rip through the electrical tape so your senko can last for a while.
  2. I know that Quantum had a problem with their gears, but from what I understand they've gotten better. Now I know that a lot of people consider the Smoke to be one of the best reels for the price, but how are the Energy's? I felt one and it felt pretty smooth and solid. I liked the eva handles and I think I'm one of the few that thinks that the new paint job is an improvement, but orange is my favorite color. How do these hold up compared to other reels of a similar price?
  3. The 4lb xl is alright. I hate using anything under 8lb for bass though.
  4. Those bitsy bug jigs are pretty sweet. If you can find the bleeding bait versions those are even better. They sell them at BP.
  5. Those laser sharp circles are awesome. The Eagle Claw line absolutely sucks though.
  6. You could even try going down to the 3 inch senko until you figure out what the bass are doing. That may also be small enough to get the bluegill that have been biting at it.
  7. Yeah, they don't have to much action unless fished pretty quick. I don't really like them as a jig trailer, but they're ok during the summer on a T-Rig when you want to fish your lure a little faster than the rest of the year.
  8. I think it sounds awesome for those guys that like ripping lip less cranks through grass.
  9. You're always welcome at the Academy here in Hixson,TN.
  10. I actually found some at Wal-Mart and liked them but the lack of information on them scared me away. Actually Wal-Mart' s god awful rod storage scared me away.
  11. Found it. http://www.***.com/berkley-unveils-powerbait-power-claw-and-thief/
  12. I'm sorry to bring back an old thread but I just want to help. I've been using them like a horny toad. As a matter of fact I read that somewhere. I'll try to find it.
  13. Man I feel lonely. Am I the only one using a 2/0? In my defense I actually have great hookupability.
  14. I played for the first time yesterday and besides for fishing that's some of the most fun I've ever had. It was really fun because it was four hours of private play time with just 9 of my friends. I use to think it was kind of weird, but really it's just grown up nerf. But am I sore today. Just about a dozen golf ball sized welts. The funny thing is that you don't really feel it while you play because you don't think about it. I think I've found a new hobby.
  15. It's not actually my rod. Its my uncle's bait/smaller pelagic fish (mahi, king, wahoo) rod for his deep sea boat but he lets me borrow it while I'm down there. I get nervous throwing something as heavy as a bubble rig (which for those of you that don't know what it is, think about a 2 1/2 dia. bubble filled with water and sliding up and down your main line like a Carolina rig, and then fishing it as fast as possible on topwater) on my normal inshore rig.
  16. I've been using a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 on a 7' boat Star Rod (forget the model) for Kings of a pier, but I've started throwing the bubble rig on it for Spanish and Blues. I know that a 6500 is a little over powered, but getting spooled by a big jack sucks. I'm strongly thinking about getting either a 7' medium Aerial inshore or a 7' medium Falcon HD for my Shimano Symetre 4000 FH to use for specs and reds.
  17. I wish I had the money now, but I'll have to wait.
  18. All though it would be hard to pass up a $130 chronarch.
  19. Yeah, but sometimes the fishing gods grant us with tackle priced much less than its worth, and I think that, this would go right beside the Berkley Havoc baits on a list of these miracles.
  20. Would y'all go with this reel over the Revo S.
  21. Well, after I almost had a heart attack about the mettle going on clearance and thinking that they were discontinuing them, I've been relieved that it's been upgraded. From what I can tell, not much has changed besides the fact that it now only weighs 7.7oz as opposed to last generations 8.1oz, and I don't really think that very many of use can tell that slight change in weight. I also think that the price has gone up $10 (it now cost $59.99) but if it performs half as well as the last generation it would still be worth every penny. If anyone else has any word please let me know. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h20-xpress-mettle-mt2-baitcast-reel-right-handed/pid-903505?color=Silver&N=46883185+106
  22. I'm going to get a cranking set up after I get a little bit better worm/jig rig. I plan on getting a 4600 C3, because they do last forever.
  23. I used to spend a lot of money on video games, but I eventually just realized that nothing "new" is coming out. Once you've played one it seems like you've played them all except the next May have prettier pictures. The last game I bought was skyrim on it's first day. Plus at $60 a game, I could just buy a new reel for the same price as two games.
  24. Zebco Omni-Flex is only like $2-$3 bucks at Wal-Mart. I bought a spool of #12 for use just as backing.
