  1. Well, I wasn't going to say he back-ended me. I'm too grateful for the trip.
  2. Met up with Jimmy today on the Chowan River for little respite from the surf and sand. He handed me my hat today. Then again, it is his home water and I think he knows every single bit of cover in that place. Beautiful place to fish, I just couldn't adjust to the Quantum reels and AllStar rods. Check out the back on that fish. It had a huge cut that was healed over. Didn't seem to affect the fight in the fish though. Raiding Jimmy's tackle compartment. I could spend a year in this place... First fish of the day for me. The fish wasn't getting off. The hook was through the upper lip, on the outer side of the gills, then hooked back through the gill plate. The Rage Craw came through twice today. Just glad I didn't get skunked. This is when Jimmy really started the lesson. At least I got to land it for him. And land the next one too... He got both of those within 75 yards of each other. He even got into the trash fish. I saw that flying away from us and asked him if it was an eagle. He thought it was an osprey until we got a little closer. We spent about 6 hours on the water before my wife started getting a little red despite the SPF 55 sunscreen. As we were leaving, that sorry cracker gave me an All Star cranking rod. We had a great time, got to see some new country and see a few nice fish. Jimmy, thanks again for a great day on the water! And you'd better watch out, there's gonna be payback for that gift.
  3. Wait a minute Russ, I just realized that you left out the best photo I took. Where's CJ's version of Cold Steel?
  4. Kistler Helium II LTX He2HC70 7' Heavy Fast. Like a board it is.
  5. IMO, the Citica is good for throwing bladed swim jigs or spinnerbaits. The Curado excels for worms, jigs, etc.
  6. Get the ACOE to hold that water until the 2009 North Central West Virginia Debutante Ball and Fishing Expo.
  7. The MD is already on the market.

  9. She fishes with ODBA, so probably less than 25.
  10. At least I'm good for something. :-/
  11. I don't know, do you know me? I didn't enjoy the year-round work all that much, but I would love to grow an acre or two again just for nostalgia. One thing is for sure, it was great exercise.
  12. Fishing the lakes you're fishing, fish it like a jig. Toss it out, let the bait fall to the bottom. When it gets there, give it a few seconds, then pop it off the bottom. Reel up the slack and then an addition 2-3 cranks. Then let the bait fall back to the bottom on slack line. I've caught fish like that in every east TN lake but Watauga.
  13. If you aren't anal about cleaning, I would go with an aluminum.
  14. The buyout was somewhat welcome, but I really miss growing the stuff. I enjoyed the time spent with my dad and grandfather. Just hated the constant work.
  15. What, no photographer credits?
  16. No, smartass... The heat/cool and auto/hand switches worked. The digital readout didn't work and I had no way to adjust the thermostat. I pulled the whole thermostat, then reinstalled. Everything started working. I guess I rebooted it.
  17. That isn't burley, it is flue-cured. I'm way out of the burley belt. :-? Those aren't trenches, the crop is planted on ridges. My dad and I always toyed with the idea of doing it when we raised tobacco, but never did it. The ridges would make cultivation so much easier.
  18. Yep, the reaction bait is king on Guntersville this time of year. The previous Elite tournaments on the lake have shown that.
  19. That is reason enough to never buy another GM product.
  20. These things cause more harm than good. Took 14 flushes... :-[ How is 22 gallons better than 5 gallons? >
  21. Richmond is anything but central VA. Richmond is eastern VA. Central VA is Roanoke/Lynchburg. But, if the state ends at Roanoke, I guess Richmond is central VA.
  22. Setting the bar pretty low. At that price, Eagle FishMark 320 or Humminbird 535. If you could spend $200, then the Humminbird 565 hands down. Resolution is king and the 565 offers the best resolution on the market for $200 or less.
  23. Well, GM is the sickest of the auto manufacturers. IOW, I wouldn't buy a new GM now if they were selling them for $10.
  24. I refuse to watch such films on broadcast TV.
