Not that hard to do down there.

That has been my lone fear about the auto-inflate PFD's.

An upgrade will happen when that thing dies. I tried to push one through before M$ made the switch to Vista. The Win98 machine in question is basically a unused workstation that runs a SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) program. It has been in service since 2/99 with just a few hiccups. We only run into problems when connecting new machines onto the network.

I go no smaller than 12 and no larger than 20. Usually 17 on everything except for my crankbait rigs that get 8 lb. PLine CXX.

I solved the problem earlier tonight. Just a matter of resetting the user account password on the XP Pro SP2 machine.

Like I said, it will be the last...for a while. IMO Rick is exactly like Terry Funk in that he just can't walk away. Terry Funk has retired about 15 times over the last 15 years.

Just talked to that sorry $&$*, he was on them pretty good today after not getting much yesterday. Said the wind has been very fun down there. Good thing he's not in a 17' aluminum. ;D Some people are having a ton of fun down there too. :-X

I never had any problems with the stuff. The 12 lb. was good line and always treated me well. Like all flouro it was very picky about knots. Had to cinch very slowly and lubricate very well.

I'm the computer guy at work. Pretty much got the position by default as I'm A one of only two guys under 35 and B the only one who knows anything about the $&*$*(# things (a sad statement). We've got a small network that has contributed a great deal to my chrome dome. I had been putting off installing XP SP2 on one computer because of possible database issues. We're running a database on Access 97. When we moved it to the current machine, it took 2 days to clear up problems due to different VB definitions. So this weekend I get tired of dealing with some compatibility issues, so I install SP2, then download and install a crapload of updates and IE7. Attempt to open the DB, nothing thanks to some improper file associations, VB definitions, etc. Do a sys. restore, get the DB working. Think I've got everything straightened out. Just SOL when it comes to a newer browser. The only bad thing is that one of the computers on the network is running Win 98 (yep, we're behind the times). The computer I updated Sat. night acts as the print server for the network. It seems that SP2 and Win 98 don't like each other as now I cannot print from the old computer. Hell, I can't even see the old POS on the network. I can see every other computer on the network from POS, I just can't access the print server. Heck, I can get to the shared content on every other network machine, just not the print server. I've spent the last two nights going through every little thing trying to figure out a solution. Nothing works. Thought about getting a new printer and just hooking it up to ye olde POS, only problem is that no one makes a serial printer these days and this thing doesn't have any USB ports. I'm ready to pull out Mr Glock and ventilate the thing.

Like I said, the tryin ain't over yet. I might throw some 17 lb. CXX on it and throw some small swimbaits if I can get out on the water in the next week.

As many of you know, muddy (that bum) sent me a Flooger Trion a couple of months ago in an attempt to poison me. I've had occasion to throw a few different baits with the reel over the last couple of weekends. Threw an xCalibur xr50 and a Lucky Craft Pointer 100. First impression was that the d**n brake collars are useless. After many many near losses, I finally got them set to my liking (2 out). I had to get a magnifying glass and a bright light to find a couple of them after they flew off into a world of shag carpet. I found the reel to have a really free spool at rest. The strange thing was that despite that freedom, the casting distance just wasn't there. Throwing an xr50 with two 6'6 M action rods, the Trion filled with 10 lb. YoZuri Hybrid US, a Shimano Citica 100DSV filled with 12 lb. Vicious copoly, the Shimano was always 10 yards better on distance. I even tried turning all braking off. The distance still wasn't there. Throwing the Pointer, the Trion just didn't have the distance either. I didn't throw one with any other setup, so I don't have a comparison there. I would have liked to have had just a bit more distance though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not like some people who are hung up on distance. However, there are times when you need an extra 10 yards and the Trion just wasn't capable of doing it. I do like the knobs and handle of the Trion. Retrieve is smooth enough for government work. I didn't care for the push-button palm plate access. I kept worrying that I was going to pop the sideplate off whenever I would palm and push the button in a bit. I'll be putting it through more over the next few months, but as of right now, IMO I'm not that much of a fan. Don't really care for the extra large spool either. Seems to be deeper and wider than a Citica 200DSV. Anyone want to send me a Steez to try out?

Once the knot is finished (be sure to leave a tag end of 15-20"), pass the tag end of the line back through the front of the eye of the hook. That should make the hook stand up.
