No matter the type of line, a palomar requires lubrication. Use plenty of spit before cinching the knot and cinch via the tag end rather than the main line. CX is fluoro coated and will burn if you cinch the knot using the main line.

After spending a summer throwing deep cranks using a 6.3:1 and a 5:1, I see no need for the lower ratio.
