I won’t. I’m lucky, I’ve only forgotten it once. I drove an hour home and fished locally instead of trekking back another hour.

It’s been dink-city for me since April. I haven’t fished much fresh water this Summer.

From shore, there's shore access @ Hinckleys, Seymour, Sheep, Goose, Cliff Pond, Flax, just to name a few. Google maps will be your friend down there. All the waters I've mentioned have LMB & SMB. Check with each town's rules about needing a town sticker to park during the Summer. Seymour requires a town sticker. You can buy a daily parking pass for Sheep, but there's not much shore access there. Cliff and Flax are in Nickerson State Park. As far as salt water goes, I can't really help down there, perhaps stop at a local bait/tackle shop OTW down or one of BR's members that lives down there will chime in. If you have means to transport a kayak, there are places that rent them. Look up Kistler. Trey’s KLX line are mod-fast. I have spinning and casting models in different lengths and consider them very ‘universal’. They’ve got nice bends and good backbone. They’re made in Texas too. You get discounts and ‘private’ sales if you sign up for their emails. Best of luck finding your rod.

Fished for stripers behind my house Wednesday and Thursday. A 3-12 and 4-14 made it to the kayak Wednesday. A 4-2, 4-8, and 7-8 came on Thursday. All five fish slammed a bone Heddon Super Spook, making for a good time. Water temps were in the mid-high 60's. I took a friend's son to Monoponsett today to try to get him at least one fish before he heads to SIngapore for his Masters Degree. Evan caught one bass and two picks, all on a Jackall Chubble square bill. I grabbed three small LMB, two on a green/red flake Structure Bug and one on another Chubble. Water temps were in the low 80's. We beat-feet around 5:00 PM when jet skiers took over. Congrat's to Evan, since it was the only day this Summer he could fish. I can't confirm, but a local coming off the water thinks the town treated Monoponsett to kill off the weeds. What I saw supported him. There was little vegetation and what I saw was a distinct brown color, which is the opposite of Ponkapoag, where the vegetation is lush and dark green. Monoponsett's water is also the same coffee color I saw after Braintree killed off much of the vegetation at Sunset Lake a few years ago.

You answered your own question. Try different retrieves and the fish will tell you if it’s right or wrong.

What frequency is your downscan set at? I have Elite Ti2’s on my boat, wired to my cranking battery. Images are a little fuzzy @ 455kHz but are clear @ 800kHz. I’ll also comment that my screen resolution doesn’t seem as good as a friend’s Garmin unit.

Welcome to the forum. I’ve heard there are brown bass in Santuit pond, but I’ve never caught one there myself. You’re best chance is to head East and fish kettle ponds in Plymouth & Cape Cod.

Nothing else was working so I tried forcing a reaction. Beats a blank, I guess. Looking back at my log I don’t break 1.5 pounds during the Summer.

Boss lady and I are in Dennis Port for the week. I fished LPH twice and Wequaquet once this week and goose-egged both trips to LPH. Wequaquet was a dink fest, with a perch Vision 110+1 doing 99% of the damage. I’m 0 for my last 8 trips to LPH and am done with the place. The weather was perfect, though very windy. Water temps were in the low 70’s. Gonna be busy until after the 4th so Happy 4th to everyone and good luck if you’re getting out there.

I did the same. I have to pay much more attention to my thumb with it than my non-DC reels. It casts farther than my other reels, but not enough for me to buy more DC's.

I’ve had a NRS Chinook PFD for the last 5 or 6 years. It’s very comfortable, has a high back pad that rests above your backrest while sitting, and has enough pockets to keep stuff without becoming cumbersome. I don’t find it uncomfortable in hot weather.

I got out to Wampatuck State Park, Whitman's Pond, and Ponkie over the last few days. Not much going on. One crappie at Wampatuck, one 2 pound LMB at Whitman's, and one 1 pound LMB at Ponkie. The highlight was at Wampatuck where a doe swam just about to my kayak, noticed I wasn't something to climb on, turned and swam off in another direction. Water temps were in the high 70's at all three ponds.

I had a day off yesterday so I started in Plymouth hunting smallies. Ended up with one LMB just over 4 pounds, two LMB just under 4, and one more LMB weighing 2 1/2. I hooked one good SMB on a bone Whopper Plopper 110 that self-extricated at the kayak. It was about 2 pounds and I'm counting it because it bounced off the kayak's side. Two more SMB got into the kayak, also by the bone Whopper Plopper. I went home, did some chores and went to Massapoag for an afternoon trip. I ground it out for a while, throwing a similar mix to what I threw in Plymouth, and ended up with one LMB and one SMB late in the evening. Both were about a pound and both came on a bluegill Rapala Skitterwalk. The weather was perfect in Plymouth and the wind picked up a bit by the time I finished at Massapoag. Plymouth water temps were 68.x and 74.x in Sharon. Air pressure was 30. I've also fished behind my neighborhood for stripers a few times over the last week. Not much to report yet: one schoolie to the kayak and one good sized follower that turned off at the surface.

Another 'normal' trip to Ponkapoag late yesterday afternoon. A handful of LMB and a couple picks. I threw lipless, topwater, 4.3" Keitech, and a Ned in the beginning but found them late on a weightless watlermelon/red flake fluke. Most fish were 1 to 1 1/2 pounds, with a couple enthusiastic dinks to boot. The weather was perfect. Water temps were 76.x on the east side and 79.x in the shallow, western section. I drove by Canton Reservoir afterward to see if it was open. Nope, it's still under construction but looks almost finished.

I'm sure they're comparable. I got hooked on Kistler a few years ago when I bought my first one during one of their annual sales. I try to buy American made products when possible and wasn't disappointed. I just ordered a Helium Heavy-Medium-Heavy casting rod, currently on sale. Kistler calls it a 4.5 power, or something between Heavy and Med-Heavy. I have their Light-Medium-Heavy rods, which have a nice light tip and more backbone than a Medium power. Email them telling them what you're looking for. I'll bet they'll get back to you within a day or two - after the holiday, of course. If you sign up for their emails, you'll get 'private' sales throughout the year too.
