If you can find a lews tournament lite that’s an awesome reel. It’s made to throw light baits. I have it paired up with an e6x and it throws weightless senkos effortlessly

See if you can find the fenwick silver hawk on sale at cabelas, usually around $60. Really nice rod for the sale price

I like power pro and suffix equally, generally I just choose based on which I can find a better deal on

I definitely would recommend them. The original Bucoo line was my first nice rod I purchased and I still use it today

I think you’ve got a pretty good line up to get you started. I can say from experience that that model of the tournament zx rod is extremely versatile and you’ll be able to cover a lot using it.

I say go with the heavy, they are thick rods but after just holding them in the store I can tell the heavy is going to have enough extra backbone that I wouldn't pick the MH over it for frogs

I picked up an E6X last spring and it's a great rod. Very sensitive and has plenty of backbone. If you're trying to stay under $200 this rod is definitely the way to go

I had used the Bass X and the Ghosy and they are both great rods. Your best bet is to go hold both in store and decide which you prefer based on feel because they bother are great performing rods.

Can't go wrong with the Lite, it's a great reel, very capable of throwing light weight baits

I have a couple Revo SX and I love them, they are definitely my work horses. If you don't mind me asking, where are you seeing those prices?

I'm looking to replace my spinning rod and I have my eyes set on a rod in the E6X lineup. I know this rod is a dropshot specific rod, but how does it work for other applications? I want to be able to throw wacky rigs and light Texas rigs. I realize they make the 842S SJR which is probably designed for more of an all around spinning rod, but I'd prefer the 6'10" since I am planning on purchasing a fishing kayak soon and from what I understand the couple inches shorter may make the rod easier to use on the kayak. What are your thoughts?

IMO it is going to come down entirely to how each reel feels in your hands. Both are high quality reels, but until you get a chance to get both in your hands, it will be hard to choose.

If you don't have a spinning set up I'd go with that. If you do have that I'd go with a heavier setup for things like frogs and smaller swimbaits, along with pitching/flipping

So I was looking on TW this morning and I came across the Impulse Energy line of rods under new arrivals. Does anyone have any experience or have thy heard anything about these rods? I'm really tempted to try one out but I wanted to hear from others before I made a decision

Most people will probably recommend something from Shimano and Lews. But I really like the Revo SX. I have a few of them and they perform great. I would seriously take a look at them

I don't know much about the other two rods. As far as the reel seat goes on the Tatula, once you put a reel on, you won't even notice it. The reel seat actually gives you a nice platform to have your finger in contact with the blank

I agree. I use the same model as my jog rod and I couldn't be happier with it. I think you could get away with using the heavy rod around docks, I use mine around both docks and grass and it performs great.

I would look into the Kistler Argon spinnerbait special. I'm use a carbon steel (as step down from the argon) and it has been nothing but great for me. If you wanted something a little bit longer, they have longer rods in the argon series as well

The Daiwa Tatula is one of the most sensitive rods you can get in its price range. They still have some on Walmarts site and I think Amazon has some as well for around $100

I think either real you listed are your best bet. I have experience with both and neither will let you down

There really is a big difference between the rods IMO: much lighter and more sensitive. You'll definitely like it

The line is mostly based on preference, but I'll tell you what I like to use. For cranking, I typically throw 12lb fluorocarbon, potentially up to 15 depending on the situation. For plastics and lighter baits, I use about the same depending on what I'm throwing (as far as the weight of the lure goes) I definitely would use 15lb fluorocarbon on the spinnerbaits/chatterbait rod. For the Heavy frogging and flipping rod, I would use 50lb braid, you'll definitely need stronger line like this if you are fishing thick cover. Lastly, if you are using the short rod for top water baits, I would get some good monofilament, probably 14-15lb test. You'll want mono so your line stays on top of the water
