My cabelas has terrible rod/reel and lure selection...just terrible. Hopefully this changes things

Im gonna try ygk sinking braid soon for my spinning outfit. Otherwise smackdown is my favorite but so expensive. Jbraid is nearly as good. Im considering using the new bx2 from sunline (sx1 chartreuse bleeds insanely btw) for baitcasters as the added diameter from coating should allow me to use less of the line.

Ive had far better results with flouro leader than straight braid. One day started with leader and caught fish. Broke leader and went straight braid no results. Tied new leader and caught more fish. Not saying its visibility but flouro leader gives you advantages not possible with braid

As papa alluded to...color can play a factor. Saying all they see is the underside is a fallacy. If i throw a popper or frog into 2 feet of clear water and a bass is 7 feet away near surface he probably can't even see the underside. But he can see the bluegill pattern and fethered treble that is below surface.

Some 8 carrier braids are going with coatings now which significantly increase diameter whicj complicates matters. They say the coatings cause the braid to sink better...

Im sticking with braid to flouro so i can have better casting, and sensitivity/hooksets when i dropshot/wacky rig

I use flouro leader. The bow in the line causes swimbait to rise especially on long casts

In regards to 8 strand braids, are some companies really that much thinner compared to breaking strength or are some companies understating poundage like they do for mono/floruo? Smackdown for instance for their 15 pound is roughly .16 mm while other 8 strands are more along the lines of .19 or larger. Recent fishing with 1/8th ounce 3 inch swimbaits made me realize how much my 20 pound line was causing my lure to ride higher in water and was thinking of a thinner diameter line to improve fall rates for my finesse lures.

Just slow drag and occasionally stop and hold it. Not much to it

Ott was using new strike king rage swimbait Doesnt come close to an ounce. The main advantage is the lure slides out of way and smallie gets a mouthful of treble.

Iuse my 7'mh apc as cranking rod...or i use to. Now i use it as a reaction bait rod and does it very well. Its one of my favorite rods and i own steez, phenix, 13 ***.

Any info on a small highland reservoir during drawdown for smallies? Focus on points and bluffs and creeks with shad?

Has anyone used the new chatterbaitit freedom? Ive a lot of bites on this lure and it really goes anywhere! My issue is that hookups are modest at best. Due to circumstances ive used a heavy extra fast action rod with braid. When getting bit I have to stop reeling and wait before setting hook almost liked a frog/toad. Ive yet to have an opportunity to throw it on my reaction bait rod. With the trailer being texas rigged do you think a steady reel and sweep of a more forgiving rod would help?

Surely you have to angle it a certain way for proper action which seems like the crux of the issue.

Was watching bass live today and it appeared to me that Ott Defoe was throwing the new strike king rage swimbait but it was a line through with treble hook. I cant find any guides online on how to do this.

I was in 40 fow in kayak at night and had a huge musky bump the underside...also have had them surface beside me at night. Have heard a lot of.coyotes...love that noise

I think it hits on the concept of saturating a target to aggrevate bass into biting. It was a good plan based on sound experience from pros and weekend fisherman
