  1. I'm in the market for a new rod that will be well rounded for baits with treble hooks. I know most people have several different rods for various cranking and top water but I'm looking for a jack of all trades as I normally only take 2-4 rods when I go out. What I'm looking for is something that I can throw poppers, lipless cranks, squarebills and sammys on, baits ranging from 3/8-5/8. The rods I've been looking at are the St croix avid 6'6 mhm, abu veritas winch 7' m, and dobyns 685cb. I am open to any suggestions, and any input is greatly appreciated. I would like to keep the rod under 200$ and preferably a rod shorter than 7'
  2. I agree. I've used the triumphs and premiers a lot and for 100$ I think there are better rods, but stepping up to the avid was eye opening.

  4. I have one and I like it. If you have fished other abu reels and like them then you will like this reel as well. I will say that the finish scratches very easily. Also if you do decide to buy one, shop around they can be had well under the retail price.
  5. The lion king is my favorite. They also made a lion king 1.5 which is from timon and pumbas point of view.
  6. Lucky craft pointers and sammys 100 were going for 10.97 at the dicks near my house

I usually get that when I tell people I don't like bacon

    I'm allergic to peanuts
  9. I like the frogs because they are weedless and I can throw them anywhere. As far as hook up ratio mine is pretty high, although they don't always take the bait. For every bass that actually eats the frog, another just smacks it out of the water or just completely misses the bait
  10. Really it's up to you. I would use a 6'3" for topwaters and plastic worms. I have rods from 6'6" to 7' and prefer the shorter ones for most of the fishing I do.
  11. Anyone use big inline spinners for bass. I was at bps today and saw the mepps musky killer and picked it up. I figured if they can eat a 10" power worm they can eat one of these bad larry's.

  14. Don't know how you did it, I spent one month on ship and thought I was going to lose my mind. I spent 5 years in the Marine Corps, got out and currently looking for work. If anyone knows someone hiring in MA let me know
  15. Just giving my thoughts on the lines I've used relative to the post. I don't think that objectively one line is better than the other and everyone is gonna have different opinions about different products. The only way the op is going to know which of them is the best is by using all four lines himself.
  16. I voted for power pro super slick, but i actually prefer the regular pp. I tried 832 but I didn't like it, never used fx2 or samurai although I want to try out fx2
  17. It's doing the exact opposite for me. I'm on my computer and it switches to the mobile version, and I guess it's been logging in people as me (at least 2 so far)
  18. maybe i was logged in as someone else earlier because I saw a few threads marked with a star that I didnt post in
  19. that might explain why it keeps making me log in
  20. I think zman makes a floating elaztech frog
  21. I use fishing spots a lot, its helped me find a lot of new places. I use knot wars too.
  22. I was just at a local tackle shop and they had a BNIB daiwa zillion for 250 so i scooped it up, 100% impulse buy. The reel feels great and I can't wait to use it. I was kind of hesitant to buy it because there's a lot of new reels coming out with with all sorts of cool features. Any zillion users out there how do you like the reel? On a side note they also had a previous version antares, morrum sx mag, and abu eon, thank god they were all righty or I probably would've spent a lot more money... stupid bait monkey.
