  1. I've found its much more than the brand.. its thoroughly understanding the colors etc, blade configs, and how to work it.. understanding this you can catch just as many if not more on a walmart spinnerbait configured and fished properly.
  2. I actually use my swimbait rod to chuck my 1oz+ spinners cause I've found even with my flippin stick I am wanting/need for more hooksetting power with the extra weight and big blades resistance.. plus it flings them much farther.
  3. conventional wisdom usually holds but there are usually other variables involved and sometimes one cannot see nor detect those
  4. X2 on that .. I like chatterbaits but they take backseat to SB
  5. Catching the smaller fish is easy.. and fun.. theres lots more of em and they fill the shorelines. Once in a while if you are a casual fisherman you may catch the big'uns.. once in a rare while if yer REAL lucky or if ever one of the biggest in the lake. The bigger you go imo the less mindless casting and mindless fishing will work. So short of any short answers, my answer is you need to take yer fishing to another level to consistently take bigger fish.. and depending on yer lake consistent may not be often either. Up here in the NE, the fun fish run up to 3 lbs.. the bigger fish I'm calling the 4-6 pounders.. the biggest fish 7+
  6. Learn from it boy.. meanwhile thanks for the pic tho I've not see before..
  7. uni-uni knot (line to leader) shaw grigsby/JimmyHouston Knot (FC) FG knot (line to leader) I lost lots of expensive lures before settling on these 3 which covers most of my needs
  8. 40 6in bass in a small pond.. sounds like alot of stunted starving fish.. but a whole lota fun
  9. Interesting but also could just be double the commotion that the bass needs to come and check out
  10. Im in yer neck of the woods and its that time of year and if a fish is couple of feet from shore and you spook it and it returns.. guess what.. its either guardin a bed or preparing his bed for a female Bed fishin isnt impossible.. I usually can take some using a senko but I'd leave them alone cause they guardin eggs or fry then yer askin the panfish to go ahead and eat his kids while you take him away just so you could snap a few pictures..
  11. Some of u guys need to give the benefit of the doubt.. even if its flub it entertainment.. Besides not everyone who catches somethin big behaves EXACTLY like you guys would..
  12. If thats the picture and its legit, unless hes a midget, by the relative size of his hands, that fish is at least 26"+ If 29" given its a fat fish, I dont put it past that it could be in the neighborhood of 18 So question is did he let this go without getting an official weighing? Score another big fish on a 5" worm..
  13. Wow ask him for measurements too .. length, girth if he has em.. Florida grows em big
  14. Use yer flippin stick.. I use mine for swimjigs
  15. What kind of information would you be putting into a journal app?
  16. X2 on this Wind ripples hide me from fish on the banks.. this time of the years its even more important with the vegetation not in full bloom to have the added camo of the wind ripples.. From the bank its very helpful in order to reduce spooking the fish as you approach Spinnerbait high just under the waves No need to cast too far as the fish generally are shallower Like Ceejay said.. a float n Fly is a good option during daylight hours on high wave ripple days if you can get the cast off. Not too worried about getting downwind if yer a bankbeater as its not a hard fast rule and esp this time of year as the plankton bloom isnt as high theres nothin for the wind to push
  17. Listen Flouro doesn sound like its that much more invisible than mono but it IS slightly less visible.. the refraction index is closer to water .. shows it.. I can see a difference in the gin clear water since I use fluoro leader on my flipping stick and mono on my swimbait rod. Is it worth it? For some of us using it as leader.. it is.. if it breaks off, tie another length.. I use Tatsu and even it breaks off.. but Ill take any advantage in fishing I can get and this is a no brainer.. if you dont want the fish to see the line under certain conditions, use the flouro.. if there were no fluror.. I'd tie on a mono leader..
  18. Whats there to a chatterbait? Slow/fast/ hopped .. if they are not hitting chatterbaits and yer friend was nailin them on spinnerbaits.. why did you not tie a spinnerbait on? Dont force feed the fish .. give em what they want
  19. Problem? I am waiting for some major Springtime storms.. no go for the northeast in NJ.. I'd love to fish in chocolate milk esp post frontal in spring.
  20. depends on the area you are fishin.. this time of year with shorter weeds, I usually am using only 12-18" fluoro on my carolina rigs..
  21. This year due to constraints with work, I've been only getting out from noon to 2 lunch hour. Not my favorite time of day neither and I've had to adjust to keep catchin the fish. Look for shade.. fish deeper.. more finesse.. the fish in general dont react well to reaction baits during high sun. I've not gone to the drop shot.. smaller lures drop/drift slowly in prime real estate.. shade/sun border near deeper waters.. bingo! Gotta have patience mid-day.
  22. You know how many of the records in the northeast are caught in "Ponds"? Most of the record LMB are!
  23. As long as you let the 24" guy go.. you can bet the little bass in there will be respectful of that guy and I'm sure there are a couple in there. It may be a while before you hook into that gal again using those tiny lures tho.. I'm sorry Ill get flak on the forum but thats just the sorry honest truth. Sure the big gals eat small lures on occaision but so do the faster smaller fish.
  24. A beat up senko piece on a grub jighead This is supposed to be revolutionary?
  25. Was thinkin the same thing.. bluegills love nippin at the flappy claws esp if its over the beds
