  1. Hope someone can post a pic of a octopus or mosquito hook hooked weedless for a drop shot rig.
  2. Can someone tell me the correct way to hook the Kut Tail worm? Flat part of tail vertical or flat? Bend at the tail, up or down? I think they should have more action than I am getting. I fished with a guy that was using them and they really thumped, so I think it is something I am doing wrong. cwb60

VAfishin4me Can you post a pic of the split shot hook or give some more detail. I don't think I have seen one. 95% in the upper lip sounds great to me. I hate to cut a hook off in a fish, or even worse , for it to turn belly up when I turn it loose. cwb60
  4. I never engage it before the spool stops turning, but you may be on to something about the drag. I do run it tight. I think I will order new dragwasher and a pinion and try it again. Thanks
  5. I have a Daiwa S103HL reel, and really like it a lot. The problem is after I had used the reel for about a year, it started actiing like the gears were coming unmeshed when it had a load on it.(cost me a good fish). Took it apart and the teeth on the pinion gear were worn sharp. Replaced the pinion and it was fine for about another year, now it is doing the same thing again. What could I be doing wrong that would cause it to wear out that soon? It is a great reel other than the pinion problem. cwb60
  6. try a pack of hitchikers. What are hitchikers? Where do you get them?
  7. I have had good luck this year using them on a drop shot rig. June bug color has worked well this way. Same hook and weight I use for a finesse worm.
  8. What kind of hook set are you using with these hooks? Hard, light, or a sweeping set? I need to do something different. If I add the bites I miss and the ones that get off before I get them in, it is probably half the bites I get.
  9. Check the flea market section of this site. I have bought a couple bc and been well pleased with them. cwb60
  10. Thanks Banor I had a similiar experience fishing with my son in law. I was not using braid, but a green mono. He was using fluoro. He got about 12 bites while I got nothing. We were using identical baits and drop shots also. If it wasn't the line, I don't know what the difference could be.
  11. Thanks for all the good replies. No one has addressed using braid at night. I am thinking there is no reason at all for using a leader at night. Just adding the risk of the leader breaking or the knot failing. What do you guys think?
  12. Some people think they don't get as many bites on braided line in clear water. What do you guys think? What about using braid at night?
  13. What kind and size hook are you using? Have you considered that it may just be real small fish hitting your bait that are too small to hook?
  14. VERY intresting! I have a couple questions. Since the hook is laying paralell with the worm, it seems it would be more weedless. Does it hurt your hookup ratio any? What kind of hook set do you use with this set up? A long sweeping set, or do you cross their eyes? Thanks cwb60
  15. Hope there was some watermelon candy in the ton you bought. That is my favorite color. I also agree with what the other guys have said!
  16. Any of you guys know what channel that would be on on Dish Network? I have heard of Versus before, but never could find it. cwb60
  17. Spray something like WD40 in the light switch and turn it on and off several times. If that don't help, take the switch out so you can get to it and jump across the switch with a jumper wire. There is probably a fuse block under the console. Get down in the floor and look up and you will probably see it. Not only do you need to check for a blown on, but also be sure they are making contact on both ends(assuming they are the old long type). You can also keep shaking and following the wire from the light switch until you see which fuse is the one for the lights. Someone else already mentioned that it may be an in-line fuse. Be sure and check that. It may have somethings on in-line fuses and others on a fuse block.
  18. Any of you guys fish a Spro Swamp Frog? I bought one recently and tried it today. You can thro that thing a mile, but it fills up with water on every cast. It has a hole at the back, that looks like it is factory made, that lets water get in. I know you should expect to have to squeeze the water out, but every cast seems a little much. I am wondering if I just got a bad one and it should have had some kind of plug in the hole. What do you guys think? cwb60
  19. Calcutta All my rods are MH. Never really thought about a softer tip casting farther, but can see what you mean. I do have a MH with a soft tip. I may try a reel off one of the stiffer tiped rods on it and see what the difference is. What about the long term with wiping the grease out and using oil only? How about gear noise? Thanks cwb60
  20. Anybody ever check the avg. distance that they cast their bait casting reel? I just finished servicing mine and took them outside and tried them with a 1/4 oz. pratice plug, 12 lb test mono, and a 6'6" rod. Most of my reels went 30 to 35 yards. A couple had braid line and went a little farther. Is this about avg, or should I try to get them a little better. Also, How much difference is there between a super tuned reel, with ceramic bearings and a stock reel. Thanks cwb60
  21. Thanks Cart7 It was so simple I just could't see it. When pushing the button, I was trying to pull the side off instead of giviing it a little twist. Got it, works good now. Thanks cwb60
  22. Anyone know how to disassemble a BPS EEX10HLA reel? I can't get the side plates off it to service it. Bought it used, so I don't have any paperwork with it. Any help appreciated. cwb60
  23. Thanks Muddy and Rooster! That is what I needed. It looked like that would have to be the way it came apart, but without knowing I was afraid to put enough pressure on it. Afraid I would strip a gear or something. charles
  24. Reel mechanic or anyone, can you tell me how to get the crank handle off a pflueger president. It"s not made like any reel I have seen. Also, where to get a schematic for it? Thanks cwb60
