I fish them on a weightles EWG hook just like a super fluke. Work great.

Weird. Kill the piscivores bc of mercury, then put more piscivores back in? :-? Yep, but they claim TROUT DON'T EAT FISH!

Even better than Zoom's Trick worm is Creme's original Scoundrel in the 6" size. Wild flicking action.

But as the others have said, with a nail weight you can fish them deeper, with casting gear and heavier line.

I like zoom's trick worm in white, bubblegum, and more natural colors too, rigged with a 3/0 EWG gammy, thrown on 8 pound test with spinning gear.

I like them in shallow weedy conditions when bass are shallow and need a very slowly falling lure.

I primarly use floaters because they back up and away from cover when they hit it. I use a stop and go retrieve, and you will get FAR more strikes when you are banging off the bottom, off rocks, or other cover. I like Mann's 15 Plus, #7 Fat raps, Bomber Fat As, Luhr Jensen Hot Lips, #7 shad raps, and the deeper running Fat Free Shads.

Topwater is one of my best presentations and often a go to for me. Here is what I have found about topwaters. 1. Use them near dawn, dusk, and during cloudy weather when the water is warmer than 60 degrees. That doesn't mean they don't work at other times, but 85% of my topwater bass come during these conditions. But use them during these conditions and you will catch fish most of the time, often better than on any other presentation. Usually once the sun is up and shining on the water, look to other presentations. 2. Rapala skitterpops and cavitron buzzbaits are my two top producers. Weedless frogs are also great in weed choked areas, the thicker the better. 3. Fishing near weedbeds and other cover in the shallows are the best areas.

Here in Western Colorado DOW biologists use the excuse of fish escaping into the river to compete with native fish, whether or not they actually can escape, as Juniata has no connections to the river. There are some updates today. The City Of Grand Junction did not want the lake to be listed on a list of contaminated lakes, so they are closing it down and want to kill all the fish. Killing all the fish won't work, as the populations will come back, and the mercury will still accumulate in future fish. Nothing the State or city is doing makes any factual sense. They even have said they want to stock it with just trout. since they believe "trout don't eat other fish", which is totally bogus, as we all know trout eat other fish and I catch and clean trout with fish in their stomachs all the time from this lake, not to mention catch them on crankbaits or other fish imitating lures when fishing for bass and walleye in the lake. Our state is so corrupt and so dishonest they will do and say just about anything to justify themselves.

I may be moving to Minnesota (Leech Lake area) in a few years. Are there any really good largemouth fisheries in Minnesota besides Minnetonka? I know a 6 pound bass is a giant up there though, they grow a lot slower than even in Colorado, let alone Texas or Cali.

Hmmm maybe I'm just fishing them wrong. Do you have to snap the rod down harder to get the same darting action or does the larger bill naturally mute the action a tad?

That's the avenue we are taking. They also need to realize that mechanical removal of fish is virtually fruitless in even putting a large dent in a population and is VERY expensive.

Hollow frogs on top of the weeds, and topwaters such as buzzbaits, walkers and poppers on the edges. I would also peg a thumper tail worm, big tube, or brush hawg with a heavy weight to punch through the weeds.

Do you guys find the X - Rap deep to have somewhat less darting action compared to the original X - Rap? Are the LC deep pointers the same way, seeming to have muted action compaired to the shallow version?

Juniata Reservoir, the drinking water supply for the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, is now closed to fishing because of "high mercury levels" in smallmouth bass. Instead of making it catch and release for smallmouth and placing advisory signs, they are totally shutting it down. City council didn't make the decision, but the unelected appointees in the water department. Not only this but now the City and our wonderful Division of Wildlife will be out on the lake removing and killing smallmouth bass, wasting tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of tax dollars. I am so angry I could spit nails. Our local angling club will be fighting this tooth and nail.

Thanks guys. I usually use frogs for really sloppy areas with tons of hard weeds, and will be using the rage tail for more open areas or more sparse vegitation that's still too weedy for a buzzbait.
